Have tried and tried and then tried again, but I simply can't play PES '14 in it's current guise. And neither can I simply sit and wait until November when they patch it. So for the first time in fifteen years I'm going to do something which for many years was unthinkable: I'm going to buy a FIFA game.

Never thought I'd see the day tbh but I've been left with no choice. I've remained steadfastly loyal to Konami over the years and scoffed at friends who told me to come join them on FIFA, "why would I do that," I said, "I'm already playing the best football game on the market."

But no more, I never had reason to even consider playing a FIFA game until now. Releasing an unfinished game is bad enough, but not patching it for more than six weeks after it's release is simply unforgivable. Why should any of us stay faithful with Konami when they treat us so shoddily? They happily took our money in exchange for a faulty product and then told us it'll be fixed in about two months time, in no other industry would you get away with such behaviour.

I'll keep my copy of PES '14 and return to it once the patch is released, but by then I may have forged a new relationship with FIFA; a game I've been driven to by Konami.

So in few words:You didn't like PES2014 and will buy FIFA !
Pointless topic !
BTW, you'll not like FIFA.

It's not just a matter of disliking PES 14 though, it's the shoddy way Konami have dealt with the situation that's forced me to look elsewhere. If a diehard PES fan like me is buying FIFA games then it doesn't bode well for the series.

until they fix the issues the game is total bullshit to play

Just about sums it up.

Genuinely can't believe how many people are disillusioned with the game. Granted, it's a bit shoddy in parts but overall, the game itself is a joy to play, the build up, the movement, the passing. I reconverted to PES this year having played FIFA since 09 and I find it so much more absorbing than any FIFA title, can't quite believe I stayed away so long.

Each to their own of course but going over to FIFA, all you're getting is more leagues, licenses and modes - bit of a pull I agree but a football game is essentially about playing football, right? In my opinion PES is far superior to FIFA, even in its current state.

After playing the demo of PES 2014 and reading Konami's respond after some licence/ no rain and Spanish stadium issues: "It will be in next years game", I decided to skip a year of PES. This is the first PES game I didn't buy, and I have them all. Yes even from Goal Storm and ISS Superstar and ISS PE and PES etc till PES2013.

I bought FIFA 14, my first EA game since FIFA 2001, and I have to say I really love the gameplay.

The variety of the styles of play for every club is just amazing. Played against Liverpool with Man Utd and for the first time the opponents fired some shots from distance, mostly Gerrard. I won the match with fast counter play with Man Utd as the CPU Liverpool had a lot more possesion during the match and created many chances.

Started a Career Mode with Man Utd but I really have to learn how to play Fifa. Changed controller settings to 'PES' and have set few things on "semi' like shooting and lob pass. The gamespeed is really realistic

I sometimes miss PES on certain moments like when I score a goal; replays and goal celebrations are terrible. Also if I try some shooting from distance or around the box, it's often blocked or opponents just easily take the ball while aiming.

But as diehard PES gamer I have to be honest that overall FIFA 14 is really great game and I never thought I would enjoy it also because I still suck probably but getting better. Every match is different depending your style and the team you play against. Gameplay is really deep and the modes, tutorials etc will have a great lifespan.

Before people will claim I talk like a FIFA fanboy and all, just 'd like to share as a PES gamer I can really enjoy a FIFA game. PES didn't feel right to me this year and I was disappointed next to the gameplay the lack of licensing of Stadiums and more things that are not included. I still can play PES 2013 after a great new option file 2013/2014 but it's way to easy after playing it a year long.

So for me FIFA is something new, different, challenging, after all these years of PES. It doesn't have to mean better than PES but more suitable for me at the moment.

I'll have to see for myself if I still love it so much after a few months like I normally do with PES. Because that's mostly the power of PES games; it keeps you coming back for more even after a while.

Similarly to Jansen I have learned that it is possible to be a PES fan and still enjoy FIFA, although I'm not quite as enthusiastic about it!

I got FIFA '13 - mainly because I couldn't afford this year's game having already shelled out for PES - and on the whole I like it. The big difference is obviously the presentation and how professional everything feels, but even when you get on the pitch there's enough there to entertain.

In some ways it reminds me of the older PES games - I'm thinking PS2/XBOX era - which can only be a good thing. Little things like goalmouth scrambles and the general unpredictability in and around the box make the game a lot of fun.

But although I'm enjoying it there's just one problem: it's not PES. I can play FIFA and see it's merits but it'll never be PES. So although I may have temporarily jumped ship I'm willing to hop back on board if and when Konami get their act together.

Contrary to what many posters try to tell you in here there is NOTHING wrong with enjoying a game of FIFA! It hasn't sold millions of copies worldwide because "all of those people are noobs or kids" or whatever bullshit people like to spout on these pages. It's a decent game.

EA invest in their football title whereas Konami seem happy to just churn out the same old half hearted shit every year. The sad part is that the exact opposite of that statement used to be true.

Exactly. Though they don't make many changes between games, there's obviously a lot of effort/money put in to get the licenses/soundtrack etc. They constantly provide squad updates which are downloaded in seconds (have Konami even patched the summer transfers yet??). They release the game in a finished state, doesn't rely on the community to make it remotely playable.
Online is considerably better too. Yes there's plenty of idiots, just like there is in PES. One thing that's great about the standard matchmaking online is that it's easy to avoid Bara/Madrid etc COMPLETELY, as they pit you against an opponent with a similar level team.

It's not perfect by a long shot, but it's not hard to see why plenty have jumped ship from PES to Fifa (including myself for the first time this year, after not buying/playing PES since 2012).

I have made this point over and over ..but was just laughed at and called a fifa fan boy.

EA is adamant that they will not lose fans because of the lack of innovation. They have made small but decent upgrades to the title over the years. I have seen where Seabass had admitted that Fifa is superior to PES because of its newer technology.

The Impact Engine took a huge hit on release a couple years ago ...but they kinda fixed it. The First time touch added a bit of realism to the game where players would spill the ball on the path to scoring. Good for some bad for some....but balanced.

Solid points that are evident in Fifa are highlighted.

I agree that the game is not 100% ....but Fifa gets at least the basics right. EA makes the effort every year to keep those standards solid.

PES can only be liked for its offline play, however, many gamers do not like playing against the AI. It can be frustrating and equally boring for many.

Therefore, online is where gaming makes a huge impact in the lives of most who prefer to compete against live opponents. Fifa's online is vastly superior to PES. No competition there.

As you have stated, there is no need to choose Barca or Madrid in fear of losing to a stronger team. I mostly use 3 star teams to compete and the matching system makes it easy to do so.

On top of that, with thousands of users online daily...match making only takes a minute in any of the online modes you choose.

I play UT every year all year round ....I love football and can never get bored once i can compete online with a decent game..........Fifa is that game for millions of users today. Don't be fooled, their hype and leadership is far more than just an advertising stunt........

peace

Its funny reading posts saying Konami shouldn't release games in the state they are in and take an age to do that.

EA are far worse, they really don't give a c.rap. I remember when I brought Fifa 11 before pes... I traded it after 2 months because I was sick of the fact Ea were ignoring all the bugs present in the offline mode and just concentrating on just extras for online

Even now Ea don't care no matter which area it is in... Sim City was a game which promised to be so much but eventhough it came out 7 months ago its still pretty much unplayable as Ea have failed to rectify any of the real issues in it.

Fifa sells basically because of the name. The game can be dire but noobs and the younger generation will still buy it. Just like the fact Glastonbury will always sell out before any bands are announced as its now just about the brand and not really about what matters anymore.

Not true.
This year I bought PES 2014 on release day, and couldn't believe how Konami has played us fans with that unfinished piece of shit.
Got FIFA 14 few days later, and didn't like it either, but, EA patched all that was wrong with it on my view, clearly listening to fans feedback just a few days later ! . Now that's what I call good customer service.
Konami on the other hand, make people wait more than a month, for a patch to fix, what should have been included in the game from the first day?

Its funny reading posts saying Konami shouldn't release games in the state they are in and take an age to do that..

Why is that funny exactly? Do you think that Konami are perfectly correct to do this just because, in your view, EA do the same?

Fifa sells basically because of the name. The game can be dire but noobs and the younger generation will still buy it. Just like the fact Glastonbury will always sell out before any bands are announced as its now just about the brand and not really about what matters anymore.

This is utter nonsense, as I said previously. Are you seriously trying to pass off millions of sales year after year as people who are "noobs" or "the younger generation"? You are burying your head in the sand my friend.

People go to Glastonbury because they know it will be filled with top bands and a wide variety of music. The tickets sell out quickly because there is huge demand for them and people who wait will have no chance of getting one. It's a calculated risk because people know the festival is so diverse that they are bound to find something they like there.

A similar thing does happen with FIFA but it's because people have been pleased by EA's output over the last few years and have therefore returned to the franchise again and again because they are confident in the brand and know that they will get a decent game of football both on and offline. Those millions simply would not buy the game year after year if the quality was not up to the usual standard, just like people would not go to Glastonbury year after year if they couldn't attract a wide variety of top bands to play there.

PES sales have slumped and it has gone from being the top dog of football games to being the dog shit of football games and it's because Konami stopped caring and/or investing in the product. The blind loyalty displayed on these pages to the brand is nothing short of staggering considering how many times Konami have ripped you all off and pissed all over your loyalty.

If you prefer PES over FIFA that's fine, I've got no problem with that whatsover, but this habit people have of dismissing millions, yes MILLIONS, of FIFA fans worldwide as "noobs" or "kids" is utterly ridiculous.

Take a look in the mirror and ask yourself why you really buy PES every year. Is it because you simply prefer the game to FIFA? Or is it because of blind loyalty to the brand and a misguided hatred of FIFA?

I didn't say both should do it. No game developer should release a game riddled with flaws and just expect to patch it up. But unfortunately it happens. Its amusing because people on here act like its just Konami whereas practically most games are released with more issues then ever and patched up over the passing months of release.

Not passing off millions no. But there is some truth in the stereotype of gamers who play Fifa and who will buy it without fail every year regardless of the state of the game.

Not really. People used to go to Glastonbury for the music. Only the hardcore fans do go for the music now. Most people just go for the name and the fact its Glastonbury. Ive lost count of the amount of people I know who have been or just want to go for that reason. They aren't a.rsed about the music. Same as Ive lost count of the amount of people I know who have gone and not actually watched a single band there. Just went because its Glastonbury and basically an extra long p.issup.

I know that's off topic but in some ways its relevant to why people will buy Fifa... because its Fifa. Because of the name, because its all liscensed. Same as a lot of these people who will buy Fifa for that reason will slam Pes eventhough they have never even played a single match on one of the games.

Ive have got neither game atm. I have played the demos a lot when I have had chance and like usual will make a decision. I had always been a pes gamer up until '10. Got fed up and tried Fifa10. I liked that and got Fifa 11 first. Big mistake as the cm was broken and awful. with 12 I demo played both games and disliked Fifa so went for pes. I think Pes 13 was the first game in a while I hadn't tried the demo... more as I got it as a present.

This year however I think im going to go for pes. Played both demos and I disliked the fifa one. Just felt lifeless. Pes however is slowly turning to the fifa style. I can see a lot of similarities in the games so far and yeah there are some issues with pes but it looks as though there is still some of the classic pes feel left.

Do you know what my questions is......

Where the hell do these millions of kids get the money to buy Fifa ....every year?

I find it hard to shell out $70.00 every year for a video game....and I am a grown arse hard working man.

Do you think these kids are mainly kids of musicians, actors....etc #millionaires#:shocking:

Did you see where the dude mentioned that Fifa 14 was released with overpowered through balls, easy to scores corners, lob balls etc.....

..and THEY FIXED IT IN LITERALLY DAYS? :shocking:

DAYS DUDE....DAYS! Isn't that ridiculous to hear compared to PES? Transfers aren't even in yet..

But then again ...what are you on about .....you don't even have any of the games.

Are you taking a piss here man:erm:

Where do these kids get the money? Easy their parents. We live in a society and culture now where kids practically just need to bat their eyelids and they get what they want.

I didn't check which country your from but it could be different. Here in the uk kids nowadays are spoilt. I see 8-9 year old kids walking round with £400 phones talking about how they are after the next new big thing etc. Working in a supermarket pharmacy has its perks in terms of people watching. I mean I saw a 7 year old kid asking for GTA V and using the fact his friends have it NOW as the reason he wanted it now and didn't want to wait until xmas. So no these kids aren't wealthy, they definitely cant always afford it but hell why does that matter when you can just stick it on your/your parents credit card, use a pay day loan etc. Going off topic again sorry.

Yes Ea will fix the minor issues like that without any worries. But the longterm issues with offline game modes will go unfixed. I have seen it first hand with Fifa 10, saw it with Fifa 11 when the CM was broken, Had friends b.itching about it with Fifa 12. Last years Fifa was one where I cannot actually recall many issues with some of the offline modes and tbh I would have gotten it but I didn't like the gameplay myself.

I don't have the either game yet no. Im waiting to decide which to get. Like I said I have played both demos like crazy which from reading on here and also talking to friends with Fifa already are pretty much the finished article. I know which game I prefer in terms of gameplay. Im more waiting atm to work out which has the better offline mode.
