I only get transfer offers from the fake asian and south american teams. Anyone else have this too

As you see here...

that's not the case with me.

I wonder if the fact that many of my players are developing, and started off with low OVR has an impact on the clubs that bid for them? And also the fact that I'm a team that started off as low ranking.

Might start a ML when I get in later. Reading this thread's last 2 pages has kinda tempted me into it haha.

Please share your tactics

The White Knights

Current squad and formation:

rebelinho

I see that you have pretty successful ML campaigns with your 4-2-1-3 formation. However, I am really interested to know what tactics you set up (passing style, counter or possession play, wide or center attack) & (when defending if you used all out defence or frontline pressure, defensive line set at which number? etc) whether you used fluid formation or not, the whole set up.

Appreciate it a lot if you don't mind sharing your tactics here as I would like to try them out as well =) cheers!

I use that same formation 4213.

I play with fluid formation on. Starting formation 4213.

Attacking formation I go into essentially a 433 for possession football but how I set up the midfield triangle depends on the opposition and who I am playing. I always have the DM sitting at the centre circle as the passing fulcrum and insurance. How you organise the other two midfielders will depend on the opponent and on the kind of players you got. I play quite offensive so my second CM/DM in the "2" of the 4213 gets pushed up quite advanced almost next to the AM so it essentially becomes a 433. This guy is important because he runs the most. Pogba is the best because he is a complete midfielder. But at a minimum you need someone with very high stamina around 90. Also you need this CM to push up otherwise your AM might get crowded out particularly if the opponent plays with two DMs.

On defence, the wingers pull back to RM/LM positions and the Pogba type box to box player drops into DM. The AM remains at AM. So the formation becomes 4231.

The weakness with this set up is that because it's essentially a 433 during attack, my team is vulnerable to counter attacks. So to negate this, your DM must have very high defensive ability. High defensive prowess means your player reacts to danger very quickly so they'll be in the right place to snuff out counters. Ideally you need a guy with around 80+ defensive prowess. Ball winning not so important. The Pogba type player will be running up and down a ton, to support attack and to close down and win the ball back. So he will be running up and down to help the AM and DM.

The key is finding a balance with your attacking CM and your AM. The DM always sits back. How far you push your CM up depends on his style and stamina. If he is a Toni Kroos type, you keep him nearer the DM so he doesn't have to run too much, but he will be involved in attack using the long range passing. In the case you must set the tactics to maybe long ball.

As for AM, you need someone with good dribbling and short passing. Good dribbling is important because his operating area is going to be very crowded and you need to hold the ball to find the final pass. If there is no final pass, the ball goes back to the DM to be recycled.

As for tactics, it's short passing. Front line pressing. And attacking from the middle. If your players aren't good enough then I suggest switching to attacking from wide position as they will have more time on the ball.

Pass support distance you just adjust until you find something comfortable.

Thanks for you input! While playing the game, I practiced offline with various clubs from the different leagues. I mostly set up the exact formation as OP and the most appealing results point to tactics that adopt possession style of play, short passing and with medium number of players in attack. Defence wise, all out defence and conservative proved to be vital as well because when the ball is played into each zone, players in it will react to the situation.

However, I also had the odd success with counter-attacking style of play and short passing too and also during defence, frontline pressure while set to conservative. Lowering the defence line all the way to the bottom helps to cut out razor sharp through balls as well.

I'm still coming to terms with the various tactics you can deploy, and how certain players even if played out of position (Phil Jones as a ball winning midfielder) play better than naturals (Morgan Schneiderlin). All in all, formation has to be tweaked regardless of the opposition because you don't want to be outrun/outnumbered in midfield as most of the time the battle is won in the middle of the park.

Sorry for the delay, but I had three exams in the last few days soI didn't touch PES.

I use a 4-2-1-3 formation with two wide wingers, a DMF and a CMF. Fluid formations off.

When in possession: Possession Game, Long Pass build up (I find it works best because forwards ted to remain higher on the pitch and helps me get the ball quicker to attacking areas), attacking through the centre while maintaining formation (this way I know they are where they should). Support range is 4 (best for quick one-touch passes build-ups once in the opposition half), and numbers in attack is "many".

Without the ball: All out defense with wide containment area (even like this the full backs come too much to the centre for my taste), conservative pressuring (don't rush things) with low defensive line (3), compactness is 4 (higher than this and the full backs will become CBs. The strange part is that I never had this issues before.) and numbers in defence in "many".

PES 2016 is bugged lol! I just played a Brazil v Argentina master league friendly.

The AI was pressing me like mad and I was struggling to find a free man to pass the ball around. Decided to pause the game to find out where the hell F.Melo was stationed because he was not involved at all.

Guess what? True enough. Melo was not even in the game it was 10 v 11. Somehow he disappeared. What the hell??

He might've got injured? The game doesn't do a great job of notifying you, just a little message in the top left which is similar to when they leave the field to get treatment.

This happened to me as well, but with Ronaldo and in Master League. He just isn't there. But if you sub him out, the cutscene will show him and you'll have 11 players again.

If I brought Ronaldo as a sub he would also disappear. Never got to penalty shootouts, that would've been fun.

My post back then, with the video.

I checked the game plan. If they are injured there should be a little white X net to their name I think?

F.Melo was healthy.

I'm a bit exasperated with Melo in my master league. First he decides to clone himself (there are two F.Melos in my game; one plays for man city the other Arsenal). Then he decides to become Houdini and disappear in the middle of a match.

Interestingly enough, City's Melo is declining faster than Arsenal's.

Wow, this is something new that I have never heard of before. This occurs only during international friendly games in ML?

Which Melo do you own? Felipe or Frank? Frank is the better of the Melo twins.

By the way, I have never experienced this new "team spirit" thing, since only now I tryed out ML. When I play exhibition games, its all ok. I play on SuperStar and have challenging games. Normally, I started ML with the same settings - SuperStar lvl. At the beginning my team spirit was about 57, I think. I played two first games and it felt like I was playing on professional level or even lower one. I could go straight through my opponents and could`ve scored 3-4 goals in the first half only. So I assume, my opponents team spirit was even lower. In any case, I expected some "lower division underdog even battle" which I usually get playing on SuperStar, but what I`ve experienced in ML was total nonsense. It was one sided, super easy, no defence, score as many as you want thing. The game just felt so easy and I suppose team spirit is behind all of this. :erm: I bet I would get those competitive games as in exhibition mode again, if I played against teams who have team spirit at about 90 and are back to "normal mode" rather than just moving slowly and apathetically. But anyway, this is a huge surprise for me so far...

P.S. Advancing further on, I kind of got used to it and rather started playing slowly and holding sprint button less, not to exploit this too much... But anyhow, I think in future this should be reduced. Team spirit is a good idea, but I think it shouldnt affect game difficulty that much.

Last time I played PES I think it was 2010. After the blunder they have done with PES 2011, I briefly switched to FIFA and quit playing soccer games altogether.

Bought PES 2016 last week, and I'm having a blast with ML. If it gets me punch the pillows for missing an obvious goal, I conclude this is a good game :) That being said though, most of the goals I concede is not because CPU outplays me but somehow my guys have a momentary brain diarrhea and forget how to football, e.g. passing to keeper, keeper derps and out it goes to corner, then a header.. I think most of people here are familiar with pattern.

Anyway, onto my game so far. Picked Liverpool (Merseyside Red) with default ML team, 10 minute games with +1 speed with on superstar initially. AND, I play with the keyboard, so essentially I can't use RS functions. First match, scored before 5th minute mark and I vividly remember talking to myself "this is gonna be easy".

Boy I was wrong.

That goal was all I have scored for the next 5 or 6 games, I can't really recall at the moment. I got absolutely demolished. To prevent my incoming tantrum I reduced the difficulty to professional and played a few matches there. It went smooth and wasn't too easy. After a while it did feel too easy and I increased difficulty to Top Player. From then on I played on this difficulty. Superstar feels too difficult to play without a joystick, I already miss tons of chances because of it, and lowering the difficulty a bit seems to be compensating for that.

After the initial debacle, I finish the first season ranking 6th, thus was eligible for playoffs. I lost to Burnley 2-3 on a 88th minute bulls**t goal. Needless to say I was fuming there but played on. The lad called Coutinho was the top scorer that season.

I won the championship on the second season with scoring >130 goals on 46 matches. Even though I scored a ton, I find the game somewhat challenging so it wasn't too boring. I also lost quite a bit of matches.

Anyway, onto the next season, I'm playing on the mighty premier league. Started with a 5 match win streak, and I was already thinking I could win the title.

Boy I was wrong. Very. Wrong.

The first matches were against the easy teams in the premier league. I drew against Manchester United 2-2, and after one match I got to play with all the big boys consecutively. I lost to all of them with scores like 2-5, 1-4 etc... Then I went down as far as to 12th place. Which isn't good.

I just passed the mid-season transfer window as of now and easy matches are about to end. I hope I don't get mauled again, because if I do, I will most probably miss out the chance to join the Europa Cup.

Tactics-wise, I am playing quite orthodox. To be honest, didn't really bothered fiddling with settings too much because I just wanted to play the damn game. It was so long, and I really missed it. Anyway, initially tried 3-5-2, after going through the aforementioned destruction phase, I switched to 4-1-2-2-1, with fielding Castledine and Arcas simultaneously. After one of these guys got injured, I switched to 4-1-2-1-2. Both of them are playing possession games. Lately I was experimenting with 4-1-2-3 counter-attack scheme against stronger teams. I will see how this turns out.

With players, I wasn't aware of free-agent players so I didn't sign big names off the bat. Castledine and Arcas is doing most of the job. Coutinho was playing really good when I was playing in championship, but after I got promoted he was falling prey to the strong CB's too easily.

I signed Luca Toni (40 years old) on the suggestion of my scout in the beginning of my time in premier league, but that lad wasn't really better than Coutinho. I signed him because some of his stats were good (>90 body balance, attacking prowess, finishing etc) but he wasn't even able to stand on his feet for longer than a second after the moment he touches the ball. After I signed Hulk off of scout, I sold Luca Toni on the first offer I had.

I bought Paulo Dybala as the second striker and so far it seems he is performing quite well. I still play with Castledine and Arcas as AMF, rotating them as necessary. Wing players do most of the running so I have several of them, mainly a regen Brienza (17 years old and he is already quite pacey), C. Hughes and regen Maxi Rodriguez(just promoted him, doesn't really do too much without being in a good condition though).

I promoted regen Castellini for LB position, and after a while he improved dramatically. I feel OK with him. Bought Sanz for RB, he is quite often joining to the guys in front and he seems fo be able the ball good enough. I bought Hambro for CB and promoted a regen Hughes. They have OK OR (78 an 76 respectively) but quite often I find my defence teared apart with seemingly random passes. Sigh.

I bought Fabri as GK and promoted a regen Julio Caesar. Fabri is declining at the moment, and I will probably use Julio Caesar as my main GK in a few seasons.

That's it. I will update you guys as I go on. Cheers!

Lol. I started out with using the Man City Melo in my Brazil national team then he got injured for a long long time. So for the next national selection I picked Arsenal's Melo.

By the time Man City's Melo got healthy for next selection, his overall rating dropped.

A quick question. I think I asked this before, but didnt get any answer. Has anyone been sacked? I think in PES 15 it was impossible to get sacked. You could get down straight to Liga Adelante with Real and it wouldnt change a thing. How about this year?

rebelinho thanks for sharing your set up! It is interesting to see possession game paired with long ball though but seeing that you have had success with your tactic, it sure is sound.

On another note, your front three are set to SS, CF, SS. Do you set it to these roles based on player cards? For example, I'm embarking on an experimental Manchester United career on my Master League, I noticed that Depay and Martial has the Prolific Winger cards and they generally play much better when set as LWF and RWF respectively. I was just wondering for your case, do your players in SS have any cards to complement that position?

Adding to your input on tactic when in possession, I too have adopted a similar approach with regards to formation as well as tactics. There are triangles formed between the 3 midfielders in the middle, LWF/SS, CF and AM, CF, RWF/SS and AM etc hence the greater enjoyment when stringing short passes together up til the opposition's net =) then again, I'm unsure too if this is because Team Spirit is sky high at the moment and that even with low TS at the start of the campaign, my team was still able to play beautiful football.

What's your take, eh?
