It's been an eventful (nearly) 5 years in my time away from here, how best to summarize?

3 relationships
2 miscarriages
1 (failed) marriage
1 abortion (not my choice)
2 job changes

8 visits to the United States (married in Los Angeles on the cheap)
1 visit to Australia (nearly destroyed my mind)
1 visit to Serbia
1 visit to Norway
1 visit to Egypt (campylobacter as a free gift)
1 visit to Greece

1 bill from Australia for $700AUD for an ambulance
1 bill from US for $1500 for hospital admission
1 car trip across three states in America
1 dodgy cab journey in Bergen with a Norwegian and a Pole
1 New Years spent in Belgrade with a Frenchman, Syrian, Serb and American
1 New Years spent in San Diego
1 pending immigration case into the States (as yet uncancelled)
1 divorce still to process
1 child now on the way

Yep. That covers it.

Gladly. Took a 14 hour flight to Singapore, 2200 GMT+1 and barely drank anything the entire journey. Spent 6 hours there waiting for a connecting flight without being able to sleep. Flew to Sydney from Singapore and arrived 8 hours later after the worst turbulence I've ever experienced. A fear of flying was destroyed on one flight as I sat barely awake but unable to sleep whilst disgusted at how terrible the Avengers Ultron film was whilst being shaken from side to side by the turbulence in a fashion akin to Leslie Nielsen in Airplane.

Arrive in Sydney on the Wednesday 1200 their time, having been mostly awake for around 40 hours at this point. I had booked myself into a hostel to save money. I tried to stay awake the until night time but passed out at 6pm. Woke up at in the middle night stomach making some horrendous noises and promptly spent half an hour in the hostel toilets delivering a mass so foul smelling I considered sleeping on the streets in sheer shame.

I hated sleeping in the hostel so I booked myself into various hotels for the rest of the trip. By which point I had a urine infection so had to travel around Sydney sorting out my free health insurance and then onto Bondi Junction for medication where they insisted I give a urine AND stool sample before giving me antibiotics.

At this point I'm still not adjusted to the time difference. Which isn't a major issue as my whole point for visiting was for ABGT150, a rave essentially out at the Olympic village. I go to the rave, drink water all night because my anti biotics have ruined my stomach stumble into bed at 5am and get woken at 8am by a procession of cars outside the hotel all sounding their car horns for some event.

So after 4 days of being unwell in Sydney I decide to cut my holiday short and return on the Monday, because frankly being on my own in Australia and feeling like shit was dreadful. The night before I'm due to fly home I have heart palpitations the equivalent to tachycardia and I'm told I have to go to hospital. I'm still completely exhausted at this point and break down in the ambulance in front of an attractive paramedic ... who laughs ... I don't blame her. I spend 4 hours in hospital where nothing is discovered to be wrong with me. I go back to my hotel, get 3 hours sleep and then fly back to Singapore.

My connecting flight is delayed in Singapore and I'm almost delirious at this point and ask my ex to arrange a taxi home for me from Heathrow. I'm quoted £100 which I think is ludicrous so book my own. My flight is late and the taxi driver I use charges me £125 to get me home. When I arrive home I've had mangled sleep for the best part of a week and traveled 20,000 miles. Spent £700 on additional hotels. Blagged a flight home early for £150 on medical grounds.

I came back a zombie. I'd love to see Australia again ... but in reality ... never ... ever ... doing that again

I like you already.

tbh I was expecting something involving snakes or other poisonous animal, it's Australia after all.

You seem to have some cool stories to tell. I'll be here to read them in case you feel like writing some more.

Thank you buddy, I was a serial spammer here from 2010-12 and a bit of a plank, but it's amazing what a series of life decisions leading to good learning, and coupled with experiences that challenge you can do for you.

As for my stories, I don't know about cool, verbose certainly but I'd be happy to regale you with more tales of the last 4 years. Pick a topic!

My marriage certainly is a tale in itself. What a bizarre life experience that was.

Maybe in the future... that seems like a long enough story to keep you occupied for a while.

What about the Norway and Serbia visits?

My marriage? That only last 11 months. Never experienced stress like it before and hope never to again.

My trips to Norway and Serbia were to see some friends, both produce music and both I became friends with through social media. I appreciate it sounds like they 'groomed' me but I can assure you its nothing sordid
