It could be the distance , wireless is very hard to get right but not impossible . If you have the correct settings you can improve your online gaming much more .

Try write it into whatever Internet browser you have . As for the Upnp I cannot be sure but I think that it enables your ps3 for better online feature . Some people have said that it improved the ps3 for less lagging online but how true these statements are can be questionable .
