Having your network traffic passing through a router should not affect the speed of connection. (not to any degree that it would be noticeable). Having your PC on and downloading through the router at the same time as playing PES5 online would affect the connection however.

posted a reply to your post in the "online connection problems" thread. You can easily get a longer cable and online play is free.

If its too short you could get a new cable of any length you like from a computer store. (CAT5 / ethernet cable). I think its a metre or two long but im not sure.

My first game seemed quite a bit slower, played about 10 games now and it runs fine. Had one game of penalties which seemed to take ages but another ran just as fast as offline. Easy to get started and get stuck into games.. def worth the price of my network adapter.

My previous post in this thread (the long one on page 4, post #80) had the solution to this problem for me. My PS2 in now in a DMZ within the modem setup and plays online perfectly.
