I had the same problem. I opened up my ps2 and cleaned the laser inside with a cotton bud and a drop of vodka!! Really! Next i rotated the cog inside 4 clicks to left (or right i can't remember). This adjests the level of the laser when reading disks. Fianlly i cleaned around the fan etc...

Rooney's best position is SS. instead of dropping him back I'm playing him level with just the different role selected, it seems to be working better. I used to play with 3 strikers in PES4 but I think its better with just two. Cheers for your comment

I have experimented with the SS in WE9 and PES5 and so far I have had better success with CF's. Playing a modifed 4-4-2 in my master league I bought Rooney as an ideal partner for my front man. I dropped him back slightly and put his role as SS but I seemed to have less space and got closed...

I agree, if you slow down as you approach the defender, then R2 to burst forward, you should create enough space to whip the ball into the box. Who said, "Terry is crap"????? Have some manners!
