11 vs 11 on next-gen.

11-VS.-11 ONLINE PLAY LOOMS FOR PES

Shingo "Seabass" Takatsuka has a dream, but will it be realised on next-gen? And would 11-vs.-11 online really work?

11:45 11 players versus 11 players. It's apparently the online scenario that's the ultimate goal for Pro Evolution Soccer producer Shingo "Seabass" Takatsuka who spoke about his multiplayer 'dream' for the football series in a recent interview with Famitsu.

However, it's questionable whether this is something we can expect to see in PES' first foray onto next-generation consoles (which is due late 2006 - on Xbox 360 at least). Seabass, you see, is currently unsure if 11-vs.-11 can be achieved yet.

But would 11-vs.-11 really be the ultimate PES online experience? On paper it sounds fantastic but the logistics are a whole different ball game (ahem). We're not entirely convinced (team co-ordination at the very least would prove... interesting, for example, particularly if your team consists of random players) but we're sure Seabass has some genius plans whizzing round his brain.

This would be the best thing ever!!! Can you imagine national PES teams competing for the world cup?!?!? This would be even better than watching the WC on the TV!!! I anyway loved always to play with my friends against the machine... GREAT NEWS, dude!!!

not sure, it be nice for a few games but i presume it would be the fixed player mode, which is ok but id prefuer 2 on 2 (possable 4 on 4) as you work with some one and can all get round the same machine to rubb it in.

In Serbia, they make all the time tournaments 2 on 2, it`s crazy! Bunch of 25-30 year old guys are playing, and I can say that they rock! They have their formations (yeah yeah, we all do), and they know at every moment what they will do... This is a really good idea, for a start...

Yep, thats what I think, as with 11 vs 11 it may be good but it might have lag, as theres lag with just 1 vs 1 and people will start to keep the ball and try to go alone, without passing. However, if it could allow you to make a clan with 11 players, that would be good as the people would pass it around to try and win, also to get higher in the rankings.

Surely the point of football video games are that they allow to control a whole pro team by yourself. If i want a game of 11 v 11 i'll join a Sunday League team, at least i'll get fit that way.

It's a great idea and a good goal to aim for. Can u imagine someone being in goal tho? BORING!

Perhaps have a setup where you pick your 2 preferred positions and then log on to a game where they need that type of player.

it'd suck balls, every player would go ball hunting, causing mass rucks ont he pitch, and destroying the flow of the game

problem with 11 v 11 too many peoplle would drop out half way through games wihich would just ruin the match

unless they could add some1 else without haveing to go to a menu screen aagain

i think the idea sounds great in theory but in practice would probably kinda suck. it'd be interesting to try though

But surely clans are the only ppl who would be using this feature. Like someone said some people will drop out if there losing and it would lack any kind of formation if it wasnt clans using the feature. Having said that id join a clan for a 10 v 10 preferably centre mid but id play anywhere!

It would work as a team game. But it wouldn't work with random folks. I assume some form of career mode would be built into it as well, improve your own players stats and use him in your clans team.

Use your heads, naysayers... there are all sorts of interesting things you could do to make this work online.

In terms of ball chasing and formations, you could have a button press to bring up a little grid of where your player is supposed to be positioned and what his ideal movement options are, or something similar.

Team captains could decide subs and formations, and would have the power to kick guys off their own squad (perhaps with a vote?). Any actual football player who had his human controller kicked out of the game would revert to being CPU controlled.

etc etc... I think this is a very interesting idea in principle and there are many ways of helping make it work.
