2015 'Predictions'

2015 could be a phenomenal year for gaming, but I'm sure people say that every year. 2014 had the likes of Titanfall & Destiny which people hyped up but I never personally saw the appeal. So part of the reasoning for this thread is in 12 months time how many of us can say "i told you so" about things.

Now I've finally made the jump and gotten a PS4 I can look forward to things a bit more. Below's a list of a lot of games scheduled for release in 2015 (feel free to add any I miss) and I thought it could be interesting to make some predictions, whether it's metacritic scores, what you think the GOTY contenders will be, the disappointments etc. Whatever you want, even if it's just a few notes about a couple of games.

Code:
The Legend of Zelda (Wii U)
Halo 5: Guardian
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Here's some from me;
Disappointments
Evolve - Will probably sell well, but I think it'll go the way of Titanfall (and Destiny to an extent) and die a quick death with little longevity.
The Order 1886 - Not a major disappointment, just one to anybody who gives think it'll be GOTY calibre. I'm thinking it'll be around Infamous levels of "good".
The Division - It's a safe bet with most Ubisoft games now that they won't be what they're hyped up to be.
No Man's Sky - It's been hyped too much, there's no way it can deliver.. whatever it is it's supposed to deliver.
Dying Light - Though I don't know if anybody is exactly expecting brilliance.

Games that'll be delayed to 2016
Star Fox Wii U - I know it's supposed to come before Zelda Wii U but I dunno. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the two gets pushed and since there's actually footage of Zelda I chose this one.
Rise of the Tomb Raider - I think it'll get pushed back to Feb or March 2016. If their current plan is around November this year then it's suicide.
Mirror's Edge 2/Kingdom Hearts 3 - I say delayed, I don't know if either are even expected this year.

Games that'll be announced (apart from the obvious)
Hitman 6
Titanfall 2
Gran Turismo 7
Suicide Squad
The Walking Dead Season 3
God of War IV (with subtitle)
Need For Speed
Mass Effect 4 (with subtitle)
Unreal Tournament IV
Game from Rockstar that's neither Red Dead or Bully
Game from Quantic Dream
New X-COM
007: S.P.E.C.T.R.E
Fallout 4
Dishonored 2
Mario platformer
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance 2
Lego: Jurassic Park
Lego: Marvel vs. DC
..I may be sticking my neck out with some of them

and finally some random ass predictions
- Agent will be officially canned
- Kingdom Hearts 3 will announce Marvel & Pixar characters
- Valve will tease Half-Life 3
- The Last Guardian will make an appearance, looking completely different.

I'll respond to your disappointments:

Evolve - Agreed. Can't see it having any longevity whatsoever.
The Order 1886 - Also agreed. I think most people are expecting it to be a good but not great game. I still think there's a lot of stuff they're holding back from showing us though, so I'm hoping to be surprised.
The Division - Yep, couldn't agree more.
No Man's Sky - Yeah, definitely hyped too much. I mean, it's only an indie title FFS.
Dying Light - I don't think this will disappoint per se. Nobody is expecting GOTY standard, but it looks like a solid, fun game. Don't think anybody is expecting much more.

My likely GOTY 2015 Candidates

These will likely be my personal GOTY if they are released

The Legend of Zelda - Because i'm a Zelda fag (as you all know). Nothing imo comes close to the feeling of buying a new mainline Zelda game and sitting down with it at launch and just playing the shit out of it. I have been buying them at launch since OOT in 1998 and playing the games since 1990, this is the catalyst behind my faganomics.

Xenoblade Chronicles X - Xenoblade is perhaps one of the best games I have ever played. I'm slightly concerned by the character designs but the world and creatures look amazing and if it manages to capture the essence of Xenoblades then this will likely be better than 99% of games released this year.

The Witcher 3 - This is a game I want to be great, I need it to be great otherwise the worst could happen and I could trade in my PS4 depending on my mood (if I buy it on home console). I already know the universe and lore is incredible, I just worry the open world scope coould detract from the overall game, but I have faith CDPR can pull it off.

Announcements

1. Namco Bandai to be become a Nintendo second party

2. Nintendo F2P Pokemon Amiibo game. Shit sells.

3. Facebook buy someone BIG

What Jonno wil do

1) Go through phases of buying games, then not playing, then trading them in, then buying games, not playing then trading them in.

2) Use his PS4 as a blu-ray player and netflix device more than gaming

3) Will pre-order The Order, Bloodborne, FF Type 0 HD, Tearaway, Ratcher and CLank and a few others and likely cancel 90% of them before launch

4) Will buy at least on of a NEW 3DS XL and a Vita, and perhaps trade them both in before the year is out

5) Will play Uncharted 4 for ten minutes before declaring it is shit

2015 will be a GOAT year for games. I'm looking forward to The Division/MGSV/Tomb Raider/Batman/ Star Wars: Battlefront/ Assassin's Creed: Victory/ Quantum Break. Can only hope Ubisoft don't fuck up their launches anymore, I held out on AC:U until it ran pretty well but it's still a sloggy mess sometimes.

I expect some big titles to be announced for either this year or next year but Haribo already mentioned them.

I predict that I'll have most fun playing indie games of which I don't have much knowledge that are made available for cheap or on Playstation Plus. That was the case last year with the likes of The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Puppeteer and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons as well as Guacamelee and Remember Me towards the end of 2013.

I got the wrong action/adventure :mjcry:

I know none of us read too much into metacritic scores (rightly so), but some predictions:

The Witcher 3 - 93
Metal Gear Solid 5 - 93
Batman: Arkham Knight - 92
Zelda Wii U - 92
Bloodborne - 91
Halo 5 - 89
Rise of the Tomb Raider - 88
Assassin's Creed Victory - 84
The Division - 83
Splatoon - 82
Until Dawn - 77
Dead Island 2 - 74
Rollercoaster Tycoon World - 68

Think some of those scores are a bit generous. I mean... 74 for Dead Island 2? :shocking:

^ Is it that outlandish? It'd keep in line with the first Dead Island. And I heavily doubt it'll be received as badly as Riptide.

Picked the wrong one
