5th FIFA Patch F***s it up even more?!

I'm glad I traded my game earlier this month, I've been reading on the official FIFA forum, and a fair few number of people are complaining about how 'arcade' the game is now after the last few patches were issued.

The third patch was the final straw for me- the game was brilliant at the beginning, it was a pretty good simulation of football, the best FIFA ever. EA Sports have decided to 'follow the money' and screw up the game for offline players, an absolute disgrace.

What annoys me the most about the Sony PS4 is the fact that we can't 'opt out' of updates if we connect our consoles to the Internet (for Netflix etc.)- the updates download and install in the background! It's like we don't fully own our games, and software companies can destroy 'our' games at any time!

I suspect that it will only get worse... / -:

I was under the impression that the recent patches were messing with online players more than offline players.

i don't believe any of the patches influenced what I believe to be offline problems playing the CPU. Most have affected how online players press, and supposedly to minimize dribble pigs (tm) but not sure the latter has really happened. Online players complaining that long range shooting is overpowered, but I haven't felt this offline - although i am playing a league 2 career and free kicks are so week from these lower rated players.

There are people saying that the referees barely call fouls any more- sounds familiar?

That's funny, I've read so much on there about 'dribble pigs'.

Anyway, here's one particular thread about the latest patch and playing offline:

http://fifaforums.easports.com/en/discussion/123121/patch-1-05-ruined-gameplay

I think this is a watershed year for football gaming- offline players have been given the middle finger- there's always something that spoils the game, that could easily be fixed! It's a shame that Konami have chosen to follow in the dubious footsteps of EA Sports.

I feel PES 2016 is the 'best of a bad bunch', so to speak- and since I use Netflix etc., I couldn't even go back to the original FIFA 16 version, as we're no longer permitted to 'opt out' of those (potentially) game-breaking cumulative patches!

EA's/Konami's FUT/MyClub obsession has ruined offline gaming.

seems the entire gaming industry is moving away from the offline gamer, disappointingly. Best example is the loss of the split screen racer. No longer can two people sit in the same room and race each other. With the advent of bigger LCD tvs being the norm, now would be the perfect time for these.

Yeah, it's hard not to arrive at the conclusion that this is a conspiracy between software publishers. If there was real competition, some company would come in and fill the single player void in the market. I stopped playing online in 2013 (Xbox 360)- I've never played online with my PS4 (From the launch in 2013).

I first played FIFA 2001 online back in November 2000- I've witnessed, first hand, the degradation in online gaming. Hardly anyone plays the game properly (FIFA/PES), and I got so frustrated once with people disconnecting towards the end of matches, I snapped my DVD (FIFA 13)- at that point it was time to quit online gaming!

I used to love racing games- then I bought 'Need for Speed MW' (at launch), and thought it was absolutely crap!!

I even got sick of GTA V- I enjoyed the original; GTA III; and San Andreas more.

EA Sports and Konami are a duopoly in the football gaming sector, neither gives a damn about offline gamers- jeez, isn't $60 for a game enough for them?? Well... maybe next year, eh?

..and the next year... and the next year...

It becomes an obsession, f***ing around with the game configuration etc., trying to fix the un-fixable.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

FIFA and PES cause insanity! ; -)
