Advanced shooting.

Ok. I think ive spent enough time to have a good overall feel for the game.

I think this year's main glaring problem is the advanced shooting; it is far too twitchy. The window for moving the targeting reticle is far too small..and this really throws off my timing of the thumb stick direction.

E.g. When aiming for then bottom corners, 4/10 times I will mistime pulling the time stick back and end up having the controlled player turn away from goal at a bad time.

The upside of this smaller window for targeting is that advanced shooting is now more responsive. Some people complained that 2016's advanced shooting had delayed response.

I don't mind the small window to target. But the reticle aiming has to be more smooth and less twitchy.

Hi guys,

do you score any long distant shots? I think I scored one out of the box, while holding R2, but all my other shots getting saved by the keeper (played like 50 Games already!!)

Now I changed from Auto-aiming to the medium setting for the shots. So far shots hit the bar suddenly or go over the goal, I see some progress...

Any other tips how I can score some nice shots from far away?

You need to use the controlled shot at the right time and at the right place. There is NOTHING Wrong with R2 shooting, or any shooting, or passing, or dribbling. people just need to stop sitting on their ass ,expecting everything will come to them. None of these people probably didnt even go through any tutorial, or tried training to get used to it. it's a hard game to play, it can get confusing If u dunno what you wanna do, and without a gameplan, you will mostly just wander in the dark.

Wow. I feel I need to rewrite what I said earlier, but my overall experience with advanced shooting has improved drastically for PES2017.

I'm not sure whether Konami did any gameplay changes with datapack 2 and 3 but shooting feels organic and pretty good. I almost don't think about it now.. it's just top left or right corner or bottom left or right, I pick a spot and shoot. With a high shooting accuracy player 9/10 times it goes in. If I'm shooting off balanced it goes out. Which seems realistic. With lesser players the success rate is lower but it seems realistic.

I'm still not picking my spots perfectly like in pes2016 where I can hit perfect top corner or bottom corner shots, all day everyday and with any player from Cristiano to Lucas Leiva.

Pes 2017 is now just like in real life the player doesn't always hit those perfect shots. There is an element of luck especially when off balance. But now when I miss I it's because I'm using a lesser player, maybe off form or maybe the body angle was wrong and maybe off balanced etc. When I miss I'm like 'ah I know what I did wrong'

Maybe I just got used to it.
