Hi guys,
I was ready a post on this forum about the AI scripting some games, and losing to the AI in the final seconds of the game. Anyway i wanted to know if this affects two player mode too [when playing with a mate], and if so is there away of stopping this?
Thanks guys.

Im not to sure bout this years but last year 80% of the time I would score in the last minutes against all opponents not just one mate. This year when I score against the computer they will just run right through me and equalize. Footballs a funny old game lol

There has always been 'scripting' in PES games that affects 1 player (oh so blatant) and also the 2 player game also.

The game that the scripting affected the most in 2 player for my money was PES6 followed closely by PES5. For me, the AI still cheats like fuck in the 1 player game aided and abetted by the fact that the CPU converts something like 8/10 set-pieces (including undefendable corners)...In the two player game though, I feel that it does not dabble too much in affairs as I can confidently play with my formtation and know that I am unlikely to lose any goals most of the time, providing I stay 100% focused on the game. In PES6 no tight arsed formation and no amount of concentration could beat the AI if it were scripting against you.....you could even put 9 CB's in the box, if the AI was scripting against your team rest assured the AI would find some wacky deflection own-goal to frustrate your very best efforts at hanging onto a narrow lead in stoppage time.

So for me....yes, the scripting still affects the flow of play in the two player game.....but nearly as much as it did in the Uber Shite ProEv6.

Christ all mighty! Mat, you must be bitterly shit at PES games. I hope your stats are hyperbolic (or hyper-bollocks), because the CPU hardly scores from set-pieces against me, including corners. In PES6, if I did concede a goal against the CPU, it would've been more likely because of poor defending or from a corner, but even that didn't happen much. Most of the time it's because I try to pass the ball out of my box, but end up giving it away, which the CPU capitalises from.

In PES2008 however, to start with, the CPU used to beat me to headers from crosses and corners 90% of the time (in the first week of playing), but now, 90% of the time, I clear the ball away, and about 60% I score from corners. So, if you practice, you'll be fine, but of course there will be some instances when the CPU will try really hard to score when it's a goal down, or play harder when it's a goal up.

Practice makes perfect (sometimes).

Ok....

If you have worked out a way of preventing the CPU from scoring the vast majority of its free-kicks then please do let me know. (I realise that there is some control to move your keeper but considering you cant see where u are moving him to I would suggest its not all that well implemented).

The CPU rarely scores from free-kicks against me also, and I'm yet to concede a goal from a corner yet. I play on top player. Maybe you are playing with a team of midgets Mat? Goals I concede are generally always my own fault, may it be a defensive fuck up or just me being too casual and trying to do marseille-roulettes with defenders or keepers.

i must admit that i think some kind of scripting or bias takes place the other day it was in stoppage time and my defender chose to inexplicably hoof the ball out for a corner (he was facing the other way and 20 yards from goal) which they concequently scored from to make it 1 - 1 its far from the first time it has happened as well.

I wish I had the PES 2008 that some of you seem to be playing. Nearly every single time the CPU get's a set-piece against me, they score. It's not usually from corners (unless they want to of course), but it's always from direct free-kicks. I have made a job of signing a couple of players, simply for their sheet height and fatness since it's the best chance of regaining the ball. Therefore I win a lot of aerial battles, but the CPU counters this by scoring 90% of free-kicks they receive around the area. You may say "Well don't foul them then", this can't be helped if the CPU wants a foul. They may dribble and sidestep just outside the box for quite a while until someone go near the CPU, to which point they'll be "nudged" and win a free-kick, which they'll obviously score from.

Nakamura has scored 2 free-kicks for Celtic against me alone this season, 1 in the away fixture, and 1 recently in the home fixture. I can also vividly remember the CPU scoring 2 free-kicks in the space of 5 minutes with wonderful Beckham-esque curlers. I had no alternative but to switch the console off, yes, I lost 3-0 anyway due to the reset feature, but rather that than throw my Xbox 360 out of the window before stabbing my eyes with an artistic HB pencil.

If the CPU never score free-kicks against you, then you're the fricking luckiest person on earth, minus the Lottery winner who worked at Royal Mail a few weeks ago.

I can defend most corners, except against Deco, every time Barcelona gets a corner the f***er jumps above my 1,90-meter CBs and scores a goal. If another player gets his head to it, it might go in or not, but Deco has scored every single time he headed it in the last 5 games I played against his team. That amounts to something like 7 goals.

As for free kicks, yeah, they usually go in, come on people. Nothing you can do about it either, I tried modifying the barrier, get the tallest defender by the post, but I'm unable to prevent getting nailed in 75% of the short and mid range freekicks the opposition gets, when they choose to shoot.

Fouling is tremendously biased and its intensity comes and goes. There are spaces of 15-20 minutes in which every single push by either my team or the opposition (yet not both at the same time) is called as a foul, while at other times the referee seems to be more absent-minded (in the same game, that is). It must be some random/home-away thing to make it "more realistic"

Like I said, I had the same problems with defending corners, but that was because in PES6 I used to move my defenders about quite early. When I try to do that in PES2008, I usually move them out of position, leaving the attacker free to head it in. Now, I wait for the ball to come in and move the defender at the last moment. Obviously, having tall defenders helps. Barcelona have shit defenders for defending corners.

Where free-kicks are concerned, I don't give much away. I tend to guide attackers out wide when I can, by pressing with two players. But, when free-kicks are given away on the edge of the box, I choose how many men I think I need on the wall, then I make them all jump. I did let in a few (maybe 3 or 4) during the first week, but like I said, I tend to prevent giving away free-kicks.

This post is past-present but even more relative in pes 2009 me thinks.....

goals from corners lmao MTC imho is right the ai cheats like feck BUT if you can turn the tables and really try to hurt the AI it can (as ive had it happen many times) give you soft goals against the AI but roll on pes 2010 i hear theve done away with scripting full stop...

AMEN
