I finally scored a few spins on the demo. I had the marine first time around and got my ass handed to me, multiple times. I then turned alien for the secound bout and had a second wind; where I proceeded to crush some skulls! It was an enjoyable experience, albeit feeling unbalanced in character class. Although, in both skirmishes which I was lucky enough to join, the leading player on each occassion was the marine. That gives the impression that the alien is easy to pick up and play, with some instant success, where as the marine can be a powerhouse with a little patience and a shade of practise.

Depending on the length and the diversity of the single player campaigns, it could be a game I look into once the price plummets. It's no where near an instant purchase, especially not with Heavy Rain, and God of War III imminent!

Have you thought of Dante's Inferno? I got it and it's pretty decent. As far as I have read its very simlar to God of War.

Delboy and I were playing the online demo yesterday - it's finally working!

AVP is one of those games where you really enjoy it for the first time and the next few times, then when you know everything and there are no more suprises, the excitement soon wears off.

You can choose to be a Marine, Alien or Predator. All are really fun at first to be honest, the Alien probably being my favourite.

Being the Marine is scary when you play it the first few times, just seeing some Aliens crawling all over the walls running at you, or a predator appearing right in front of your face really gets you going! They capture the feeling of all three species really well I feel.

Other then that, it's definitely not a game I would recommend to buy.

PS. I forgot to mention, we we're playing it on the PS3 and the graphics are shit.

I played a couple of games tonight. A bit flakey the online game. The Alien travelling along the walls is cool. From the reports I have heard the marines single player is good. A good atmosphere is created. Probably a game worth renting out for a weekend.

I just got this, i had a quick go with each species but have so far only done the first level with the alien.

I think theres something about playing the alien, it's the only species which you dont feel hunted while playing. Saying that, i havent come up against a predator yet.

The marine feels like playing doom, with the pistol and flashlight i jumped at every shadow, and theres no shortage of shadows. The predator, my actual favorite character, his overall strength makes it seem a bit easier but you still have to fend off a swarm of the aliens.

These are just my first impressions and i may be judging it by the standards of the amazing pc version but it does look like a decent game.

i got further into this last night, in between ML matches.

i really must say i love it! i was in the vents hunting two marines which were shooting into the ducts with flamethrowers trying to flush me out. i came out, clinging to the ceiling and crept above them. using x i grabbed them one at a time for a quite graphic kill.

i cant wait to come up against a predator, the marines are a bit easy once you get into the shadows.

i play it on mightmare difficulty which is a pain as if you die you have to start the level again from scratch.

i got to the second level but keep gatting wasted in the big open room with stairs around the edge.
