[ANSWERED] Remove the Spam Area

Sweey

I agree Original?, as you know from yesterday.

Can't for the life of me see it happening due to the reasons I gave though.

I could do without it, but some members spend their time on 'Gaming solely in Spam.

Which is the problem. It then spreads to other areas. I've not got any problems with the users who are in that section, I'm there myself a decent amount but its when that level of posting goes into other areas and if we start booking people for it we get the good old "abuse of power" phrase thrown in our faces.

I can live without it too, but threads in other sections will probably get spammed to compensate for some of our spamming needs.

I say put it to a vote.

Put it to a vote I say. With it gone, I may have to venture out to other areas of the forum, which isn't necessarily a good thing. :/

What would happen to the Any Images and What Are You Currently Listening To threads? Would they be moved to other forums? There are a few good threads in the spam area.

If that area goes though then you will have people spamming in the more interesting threads, I dont care either way but that is just my opinion....

Whether the spam area exists or not, you will still get people multi-posting in threads outside of the Spam Forum. Keeping it limits the spamming of other areas so it won't be being removed.

True you will always get Spam in other areas but as you said people know they can spam in that area and if they know they are spamming and they are good members they will move it to there...n00bs can be excused from time to time.

Not to be harsh, butif that's the case they add little or nothing to the site.

I would suggest the transformation of the 'Testing Area' (which incidentally also wasn't needed) into what is now 'Spammer's Paradise' would quite reasonably coincide with what a number of people have suggested is the decline in quality of posting.

Those suggesting the decline in posting are the guys who have been around for 3 to 4 years... who are now mostly older and generally wiser. I dare say you could look back at the first few hundred posts of many members who moan about the decline and see they too posted a load of crap for a good while.

Why does everybody who uses this site have to contribute? Surely people use this forum as a means of reading up on PES. Surely Joe Spam is as entitled as you to post on this forum and if we have a Spam arena then surely that is better as then you needn't cross them. If you don't like the Spam area why not avoid it?

Nostalgia? Plays a big part I'm sure, however I don't feel the entire problem can be solely acredited to the effect. I don't think you can deny the quality of posting has reduced significantly and unfortunately there's hardly an influx of new members ready to start posting.

Missed the point. They don't contribute then they're not as important as those who do, there'd be no website if it weren't for those who contribute. Unfortunately the Spam Area does not contain all the spam, it also encourages it which causes people who perhaps normally wouldn't start posting crap. With their bad posting habits carefully tucked in their tool belts these people then start posting in other areas and the quality of posting gets even lower.

I see your point, but to be honest i see more people registering just for the OF's than people actually spamming. These to me are contributing less as they rarely post and offer nothing back to the site.

Spammers Paradise is harmless amusement.

I don't see the point of closing spamming threads, maybe you can start better threads to invite people for better posting.

The site could do with a little advertising. Only a little, not much otherwise a bunch of noobs will be registering. We wouldn't want carbon copies of my alter ego, I am certain of that.

Perhaps, just talking about the site to some good memebers of other sites might persuade them to join?

Is it a big problem then?
Suppose you/we could start a online competition(it's not easy tho) to get people more involved.
I guess there are more then enough members interested in playing each other online.
