Just want to ask what you guys feel about this years games. I'm sensing something drastic is on the horizon this year and although I am now cautiously pessimistic about ANY PES release after years of bullshit, I really do get the feeling that this could be a watershed year for KONAMI and indeed EA.

The early signs are that PES is going to be something to behold this year, let's not get carried away, but the early signs are that the AI is stunning. Added to this we have the 'alive' stadium, the polished graphics and better responsiveness and player selection, and I would say we have the basis for what the game should have been last year. Don't get me wrong, I've loved and hated PES2011, from the brilliant out of the ordinary things you can do after you finally master the controls after 100 hours of playing to the abhorrent player switching and over-powered through balls from cheating scripted AI. But I just get this feeling, that this is PES's year.

Look over on the FIFA 12 forum page , Xaor, who I have the utmost respect for in continuing to compare and contrast both FIFA and PES offerings has written his early impressions on FIFA12. I must admit, when FIFA12 was rolled out in preview a while back, even after the shit personality plus and pro passing, it looked like the Impact Engine and such would bury PES. But, it appears though nothing much has essentially changed, the core gameplay is still useless, and they've added things which will surely get the FIFA sim hopefuls reaching for their whisky and shotgun like Flair passing.

What if FIFA is like 11 which was like 10 which was like 09? Could this see the huge FIFA faithful finally saying enough is enough just like there is pressure on KONAMI to do exactly the same. There's only so much Rutter bullshit that surely even they can put up with. THIS IS THE YEAR where both sides HAVE to deliver something of substance, and I'm am really, really excited about what I'm picking up from the PES tit-bits and really concerned about FIFA.

This, and whisper this, could be the year of PES!

I'm expecting an improvement, but nothing monumental.

To be honest this is pretty much what I think. The player movement a.i looks improved which it needed. But every current gen PES has had some annoying flaws that hurt the games longevity.

We'll see once we get a demo but last years demo played differently to the final game, so ill be relying on early impressions also. Saying that ill probably buy it unless its genuinely bad :D

We need improvements on off the ball movement, and they have sorted that by the looks of things. Also I loved PES6 with the long shots, besides Adriano lol, but it's needed again to enjoy the game to the fullest for me, I love scoring long shots and the passing and moving looks pretty good so far. Time will tell lads.

I think I could write a list of all the improvements I want Konami to make, but I'd probably still be writing it by this time next week!

For me PES 2011 was a big disappointment. The game had really a great potential but the final product has so many flaws that the gameplay and the enjoyment in playing are compromised. I just cannot believe that Konami tested the game before the release. And what makes me more sad is to read that the majority of the bugs we have seen on the final PES 2011 were not present in beta versions (according to people who tested the game). What happened between the tests and the release?

Konami has also a history of removing features, which actually work, without any reason. That's make me wait for the worse in PES 2012. I really hope I am wrong and we get a groundbreaking game, but I must say I am very pessimistic this year.

I mean, pumpkin heads, Konami, is that really what we wanted???
