BAL - Training to increase player speed

Hi,

Just started BAL and my player's Speed and Accelration statas are 75 and 74 respectively. I'm trying to improve these, but even with my focus points added to speed, my player does not develop in this area. I've tried adding points to all areas, because i know in previous versions you had to do combinations to improve certain attributes, but for some reason speed and acceleration just wont improve.
I have dribble speed 88 though and that keeps improving!

Cheers

Im not reaLLy sure about this. Maybe try adding some points to dribbLing ? my sprint speed is 93 and my points were balanced out between dribbLing and Speed
+ Try buying some skiLL cards that might improve your speed .. Eq. I started off with Speed Merchant...

I know why, its because Konami factored in that you never really gain pace after you break through in the game, it is possible to increase speed (by putting points in speed obv) but its much slower than other technical stats, think about pace your born with it where as the rest you can train in to get better.

So you can't improve it a lot after you start the game - or it takes a lot longer.

Thats why i started a wing forward with 6 pace 6 dribbling and 2 in shooting (check the vids in the Hows your BAL going thread).

Hope that answers your question. PS theres no skillcards for speed either.

Yeah that was my mistake . I meant maybe when you are creating your player pick "Shooting Star" ?

Well what you pick there just changes your stats in a way, it really depends on your playstyle shooting star is a pacey striker, good finishing and pace. Have a play about you can always see your stats then go back and try something dif before you start the game.

Many people ive seen pick All rounders because they hate having really low stats in certain areas, Personally im not fussed as long as i can dribble at high speed, it allows me to take on a player or two then finish past the keeper, I don't really need assisting like a CF because i can do the rest myself.

Cheers chaps.
Funnily enough i was playing last night and was sure i could see the speed and acceleration bars getting longer...and indeed they were. Now on 76/75 now! It just doesn't show the red improvement bar (or its very small).
I started as an all-rounder AMF and playing for Birmingham. In my first season still. 30 odd games 6 goals and 6 assists i think. Called up for England once already too.
Player control feels a lot better this year. Previous years my player has been very sluggish in all departments for the first few seasons.

it can be found in some help screen there as that one dude said, Speed is ability you're more born with and can't be trained

Think of them as friendly matches, rather than training matches
