Basic doubt regarding defending

Guys, Sorry if i am repeating. Need tour help.

Whenever i am one on one with the opponent goal keeper, the opponent defenders comes charging from behind me and catch me easily..no mater who my striker is...even if its aguero. But when my opponent goes one on one with my goal keeper, my defenders just dont run backwards to catch their strikers..this is so frustrating. I tried many settings like defensive line, etc but nothing is working. May be i am not trying some basics...By the way, i play using Dpad(i dont think this should be an issue though).

Please help

Welcome to the wonderful world of the modern day football "simulation"!

The short answer is the AI cheats. It doesn't even try to hide it.

It will pull your players out of position and/or turn them into mindless zombies unwilling or unable to obey even simple commands. It consistently ignores the players stats and creates situations you are powerless to prevent because Konami believe this makes the game more exciting.

Someone may well post some tactics or slider adjustments to help you out a wee bit but you still have to face up to the fact the AI cheats and cheats often.
