Become a Legend - Special Abilities Requirements Revealed

A special thanks goes out to Whivel. Without his help, unbeknownst to him, I would not have been able to compile this accurate list.

I uploaded a beta version of my Pes 2009 Legend Editor for PC.
http://whivel.altervista.org/project.php?ref=peseditor

I took Whivel's Legend Editor to see if setting a BAL player's stats to the proper attributes would give him the special abilities or if it was necessary to acheive them through gameplay. I discovered that all you need is the right stats.

It was a pretty tedious task, but thankfully I managed.

Some extra things I forgot...

The scoring special ability doesn't seem to be stat based, but you never know. It COULD be a combination of stats PLUS scoring in 5 consecutive games, as I've heard elsewhere.

And what is up with the Long Throw special ability? I mean, shot power influences your long throw? Wtf? Sadly, it is true. If the shot power wasn't up to par then Long Throw was not checked. :shocking:

hmm.. that's weird. i have the right stats for playmaker, side, and center but don't have those ticked off. any reason why?

Yes, you have to be a certain position to get them.

I had to rely on other people to list which ones are position dependent.

Side, for example, can only be gotten by WB, SMF and WF. Which position did you start your player as joekim1?

Stats wise the data I compiled is spot on, we just need to confirm which ones are position dependent.

Tactical dribble
The player, when COM controlled, favors dribbling in order to keep possession.

Playmaking
When in possession of the ball, all other teammates become more adept at receiving passes.

Passing

Easier to score goals when 1-on-1 with the goalkeeper.

Post Player
When in possession of the ball up front, he is more able to hold the ball up for his teammates.

DF Positioning

Shooting from distance
Becomes easier to take shots a fair distance away.

1-Touch pass
Improves the accuracy of his one touch passing.

Sliding tackle
Able to slide tackle well with less chance of committing a foul.

Covering
Becomes more skilled at covering for teammates defensively, especially when an opponents gets through.

DF Control

Penalty stopper
Ability to stop penalty kicks is improved.

1-on-1 stopper
As a goal keeper, will respond better to close range shots and will be harder to beat on 1-on-1 situations.

Long throw
Player will be capable of taking very long throw ins.

These are all from the in-game descriptions and as you can see leave some room for interpretation.

I started as SS but picked up CF, WF, AMF, and CMF on the way. Maybe you need extra stats for picked-up positions?

Ah, since you're SS you can't get any of those.

I didn't mark Center as so, but I believe it depends on what position you originally chose.

I really don't think getting ticks in other positions will allow you to get the other special abilities. It just wouldn't be right to have a player with ALL the special abilities.

Great. Noce work. Also the scoring special ability is given to you if you score many goals. It's not stat based.

I started a new BAL player, this time SS as opposed to AMF. I managed to score in 5 consecutive games and got the scoring special ability ticked so it's definitely NOT "score many goals."

I've only scored 10 goals and am finalizing my first season.

I was thinking about this. I think the only way your player could be computer controlled in BAL is when you hold the auto-move button. Maybe then the COM controlled special abilities activate.

i think its not about COM controlling. i think it makes your player better at these parameters, and develops him faster. like if you have SIDE special ebilities, your teammates will sarch for you ar the wings and open themfor you.

i got it on my third season. i never play five consecutive games (because of stamina and fitness). i got it around my 60 goal, i think you get it if you score more than fifty on your third season, but i heard someone say he got it on first so...

Did you score at least 1 goal in 5 consecutive games? Also, this is for FORWARDS only. That means CF, SS and I think WF too. When I played with my AMF BAL player I had scored lots more goals and was in my third season. I had CF and SS ticked and scored in more than 5 consecutive goals and didn't get the Scoring special ability. See how it works?

Well like I said. I'm in my first season, barely have 15 goals now and already have the scoring ability. This contradicts what you are saying.

my first BAL player was a WF and I had it in my second season... I only scored 17 in my first year and then 20-ish in my second... I dont know but I played (and won) the world cup scoring heaps of goals.. maybe you have to score across different competitions...

Im now an AMF and have scored heaps of goals (2 hattricks) and still dont have it... maybe it is harder to get when you are a MF?

I got it near the end of 2nd season

No it doesn't. I scored more goals consecutively than 5 and the ability wasn't given to me.
BTW I played as a SS with Genoa in my 1st season.
