I'd go for Italy though as they have a more balanced midfield. With Pirlo, Gattuso, De Rossi and Totti. I was thinking about who'll replace Totti, your thoughts on this please?

Isn't Heitinga used as a CB most of the time?

I also like the midfielders of Ghana. They impressed (me) at the World Cup and to be fair, they should have won the game against Brazil. They were the better side. Brazil got two offside goals(it was only the third goal scored by Ze Roberto[:erm:I think so] which wasn't offside) If my mind serves me correctly, in the end they should have got a penalty, one of their players shouldn't have got booked, he didn't dive. The first two goals were enough to spoil/lower their morale.

Aquilani, Rosina, Montolivo (though he's ideally a left winger), Miccoli or Pirlo pushed into an advanced role as it appears he will be on ocassion by Milan. If Pirlo is pushed forward, Aquilani could replace him in the deep role he currently occupies and we also have the likes of Nocerino and Marchisio who I fully expect to be part of the Italy midfield in the next few years.

I've only heard of Aquilani and the rest! :tongue: I'll need to start watching more Italian football rather than the random one match per week. I'll need to find a way to convince my dad to pay for more sport/football channels.

He was but then Ten Cate put him in midfield to shock PSV (or Feyenoord, can't really remember) and then we beat them like 5-1. Heitinga impressed everyone, and now he spends most of his time as a DMF. T'is the role I see him play in the Dutch team for years to come, with Schaars and Sneijder in front of him, then Van der Vaart in front of them. Loads of options for us in midfield, the only way to accomodate the lot is in a 4-4-2.... :huh:

On paper, it's Spain, even their second string looks fantastic, but I feel Argentina possess the best midfield in the world (Mascherano, Cambiasso, Riquelme and Veron/Aimar/Maxi Rodriguez) They gel together perfectly.
