What do you think of Dortmund's chances this year? With Sahin gone they've got a big void to fill.

Always had a liking for Borussia Dortmund. Not really sure why tbh, but I just do. The Westfalenstadion is quality as well imo.

Plus Perisic, the midfield for Dortmund will be fine. They kept all their great players minus one (technically 2 since Dede retired)

Not to forget Mario Götze, he's gettin' better and better day by day, 15 assists last season are more than promising. But Sahins' loss is not easy to handle as he was the "control center", the heart of dortmunds game. As you can see in the first matches the responsibility is handed out to more heads on the pitch right now. They won't lose neither their defensive discipline nor their high speed one-touch-attacking.

After the transfers the squad got more "wideness", let someone be injured or in bad shape, there is always a quite good back-up on the bench.

So i'm lookin forward to upcoming Bundesliga and Champions League Season.

i dont like the home kit, i HATED it when it was released, by now its not that ugly but i dont like it. Kappa tried to be innovative but all these points make me feel dizzy:facepalm:

hope the upcoming champions league kit will be way better!

I remember watching Dortmund in the early 90s when Stephane Chapuisat and Flemming Povlsen were the strikers and then as now they produced excellent footballers. I remember being quite disappointed seeing Dino and Roberto Baggio take them apart in the UEFA Cup Final.

Anyone recognise some of the players? A certain Australian should stand right out. He played for QPR briefly.

Teddy de Beer!

Greatest name. Ever.

Matthias Sammer was a bit of a legend. Even for a ginge. I remember the Dortmund team that won the Champions league so it was Chapuisat and Riedle up top.

This is going to bug me but what's the name of the player in this photo, in the background with the big ears and blonde hair.

Sebastien Kehl, mate.

Kehl and Ricken broke into the side around the same time.

EDIT: Actually, its not. Need to do some digging.

EDIT EDIT: Its Jorg Heinrich!

He was a right back wasn't he? Not a particularly amazing one. Looking at the Dortmund team that won the 97 CL, incredible to see 8 German's in the starting line up ... oh ... and Paul Lambert!

EDIT: Ah. Left wing back.

The Key to the Success during the 90s were the "Homecoming Transfers"

Kohler, Möller and Reuter from Juventus
Riedle from Lazio
Sammer from Inter

Main Part of the German Team that won the EURO 1996

plus the gifted coach Ottmar Hitzfeld, international experienced players like Julio Cesar, Paulo Sousa and Paul Lambert.

So how is Peresic going to fit into things? Well he break into the starting 11? Also it doenset seem like BVB are going to add any depth when it comes to strikers. Just Barrios (which is all you need really ) Lewandowski and La Tellec. I'd like to see them get someone anyone really.

edit what the hell are those puppe things? I'm guessing some show that was only shown in the UK.. I'm gonna have nightmare now.

Due to the 4-2-3-1-System there is only 1 Center Forward starting, so they decided to keep it low with Lucas and Lewy. Another ambitionied, expensive Striker sitting on the bench would maybe destroy the team spirit.

Ivan Perisic by the way is another good alternative for the Central Forward Position cause he is that tall and got great skills @ headers and finishing. He is for sure better placed on the left wing, rivalising with Kevin Grosskreutz who seems to be still the first pick for starting 11 at the moment. I think Perisic has to get used to the higher game speed and physical Bundesliga gameplay. During the pre-season he said that "this was the hardest, toughest bootcamp i ever took part of". But he's got great quality/talent and will get his playtime. Especially when you take a look at the midfield, there are so much good alternatives sitting on the bench, the coach will be able to rotate players during the season without lacking quality.

Edit
These puppets look really scary... XD
