All comes down to personal views.

No amount of negative feedback will put me off of what I deem to be a great game.

Simple as that.

At last, a sensible voice. As ever, it feels strange at first, a little different and difficult to control but now, as per every version, 5 games in and it looks and feels like the best football game ever ..again.

After queueing for about 25 minutes and buying PES for £33 in Asda (rip off) I had high hopes because the demo seemed pretty decent compared to previous Pro Evo's.

Anyway, after about an hour of playing it I've decided the game is utter crap & it'll be getting returned in the morning.

Reasons:
- if you tap x to pass, the ball flies towards your player at 100mph (fake)
- lack of advantage rule
- considering the apparent '360 movement' it still feels like you can only go straight/diagonal
- players' first touches are absolutely terrible

I could probably list more but it's annoyed me so much at the moment it's unreal!

The only positives I can take out of it are that the shooting is pretty good as is the crossing from freekicks.

Apart from that FIFA wins again, hands down!

Although I rarely reply to any of forums as i just get on with playing the damn game, I must agree that 2010 was a stress at first but after enough game time it blew me away.
I imagine that 2011 needs the same level of game time to realise what the differences are.

1 hour of game time! and you are wanting to defect away from the greatest football game ever made - yes there will always be things we dont agree with and its a pity Seabass cant fix them all but if you are so quick to give the game back then you either have no faith or have been mindwashed supporting Rangers all your life.

Gun runner amigo - come on - you have been round long enough to know where your heart lies.

1 hour in my opinion was enough to convince me that FIFA is still better, that's what it basically boils down to. I think it's jumping the gun to say PES11 is the best football game of all time, quite frankly there are still far too many flaws in it I think - very simple ones at that, which wouldn't be so hard to fix.

PES 2011 is definitely a step in the right direction for Konami though, I just hope they can take this years game as the foundation for new games & build upon it. Aside from gameplay they have a lot of things on the money! Graphically it's superior to FIFA and the edit mode is far more comprehensive (which I suppose it has to be to make up for lack of licenses...)

Fifa is bettter? I had fifa for a week before pes came out and yeah for a while I started to like it but I had to play on professional simply because any higher difficulty resulted in even the smallest player on cpu team who was reall weak knocking the ball off my player lukaku in fifa there is no difference between players they are all practically the same but I did manage a season in manager/player mode before my player magically dissapeared so I had to continue as jus a manager but the game jus lacked any excitement then the 8th of october 2010 9.15 I inserted pes and realised that I had missed my long term partner who stuck with me through all these years and provided player difference and excitement pes isn't the most perfect game but one thing it really is, is enjoyable and fun and only a moron would return the game in a time that's so short u couldn't even make a roast dinner u shud be ashamed dip ur head in lard and go talk to a tree! Coz that's as pointless as playing it for one hour and making a decision so quick!

Im enjoying both the games to be honest and as I have said before, neither are perfect but they are both good in there own ways. They both give me alot of fun, and thats all I ask.

That's also what I'm hoping PES11 is, a stepping stone towards something new and different, I'm tired of hearing the phrase, "great foundation for the future", only to find out that PES15 still revolves around a D-PAD RESTRICTION.

In fact, what is the difference between the foundation that PES5 was built upon, and the foundation that PES11 was built upon?

As far as I'm concerned, it is the very same foundation attached to a different button and yet still restricted by the very same D-PAD RESTRICTION.

So considering the FACTS, I think it's very far fetched to think that PES11 will be the foundation towards something new, because the foundation of PES11 is very outdated; but hopefully I'm wrong, and PES11 will be the foundation for a new game and not just an updated and unresponsive PES5.

Again, someone who doesn't read properly...If you'd read the rest of this thread you'd see that I gave it about another 4 hours the next day - my opinion was still the same, FIFA is better (for the record, I rarely play FIFA offline..only online)

A trick question for you Mr. Gun

There are 5 apples in a basket and five people in a room. How can you give an apple to each person in the room and yet leave one apple in the basket?

I find it funny that people will defend any game to be honest.

Just sit back and enjoy or get rid. Simple.

Why waste your time trying to convince someone into liking a game (purely because you love).

I must admit..... I'm one of those folk who hasn't given Fifa the time of day since......... It was first released on the PS2. I'm a die hard PES Fan.

Please dont attack me. I repeat... Im a Die Hard PES fan. This doesn't mean that I think Fifa is shit.. Doesn't mean that I think it's great either.... Either way I cant judge because I don't wish to allocate any of my time to it lol.

That is my view. Don't argue with it..... Dont even agree with it..... Just accept it lol

In my opinion there was no need for Konami/Seabass to completely rip up the game and start again. Why not just work on the older versions and make improvements where needed. Almost every year the shooting techinique is changed amongst other things. Here is a list of some of the dumb-founded mistakes/unnecessary additions Konami have made in PES 2011.

1. THE CAMERA ANGLE AT KICK-OFF – wtf is that about. How many of you have been confused by it losing posession almost immediately as you cannot tell from the angle how to make a measured pass?

2. REMOVAL OF THE NAME PLATES/ADDITION OF THE NAME TAGS ABOVE PLAYER’S HEADS – Why add something as stupid as this? and even if they had to add it why not have an option to remove it? and before anyone says you can remove it – yes you can but not for the CPU. The CPU always has it.

3. SPECIAL SKILLS/MOVES USING THE RIGHT STICK – Some might like it but I hate it. It was much workable using the shoulder buttons (R2/L2 etc) when performing the special moves. And anyone know what has happened to the ‘fake shot/cross’ mode done in previous versions by pressing both the shoot/cross button in combination with another button?

4. SPRINTING – Can hardly tell the difference now between running and sprinting. If a Torres/Drogba is through on goal you don’t expect them to be caught by a defender (especially by one that you know should be slow as a snail!) but that is exactly what happens.

5. DRIBBLING – If pes 2011 strength is passing then they have completely abandoned the art of dribbling. It’s very difficult to do. You could (if you’re lucky) dribble past two players at the most (when playing against CPU).

6. SHOOTING – I have written a lot already about this. I have got much better at this but this is because I have tried to adapt to the new shooting techniques, however, it still feels a bit alien in the sense that when you take a shot (even if you score) that you didn’t mean it to go there (bottom/top corner of the goal) etc. It’s also annoying that I’ve skied so many shots over the bar from virtually on the goal-line and that too from a gentle tap of the shoot button.

7. OFF-SIDE – PES 2011 AI needs work here. Players are constantly straying offside. PES 2011 apparently has given a lot of time to passing but it defeats the object if you cannot play a ball forward without your forward (stupidly) running into an offside position.

8. REPLAY CAMERA ANGLE – Why Konami? Just why? what reason could there be for that stupid angle?

And to be fair here are just a few positives from the game (Note I have yet to play MLO and BAL);

1. TACKLING/PRESSING – No more running past defenders as if they are not there as we saw frequently in PES 2010, especially where you could just run from midfield and suddenly be through on goal.

2. ONLINE – I have played some 20 games online without any connection issues or lag. I’m on a 6MB internet connection.

3. USING CUSTOMISED KITS WHEN PLAYING ONLINE – This is very welcome. So in my case I can now play with Liverpool rather than Merseyside Reds and with their official kits. So option files will have an extra benefit this year.

If I remember anything else, I’ll add.

Using the Right Stick for skills is the only thing that puts me off. I wonder whether you can alter the buttons.

Reading most of the threads there are a lot of negatives about things like shooting, passing, dribbling etc. With my experience of PES I always find it can take weeks, sometimes months to perfect the art of playing it. This one could take a little longer as there have been big changes. With FIFA, it has always been a pick up and play game which isn't a bad thing, but with PES when you do perfect it, especially a good PES there is no better feeling.

I struggle with certain aspects of it, but as of previous experiences with PES I no once sorted this will be a great game.

Will be interesting to see the reviews of the game in a months of so's time. Not all, but im sure many more gamers will be happier with PES.

I signed up to this website to hopefully share some tactics and knowledge of the game, also thoughts on the game itself, however, all I can see on these forums are negativity. While feedback is good, it is important to point out the positive things as well such as the new animations, the much MUCH better passing system and general fluidity of the game, there are bugs still there yes, but i think people are somewhat foolish to think you could stick PES 5 game physics in there and slap next gen graphics on top, it doesn't work like that. I do agree with some points on here about the bugs but it's mostly an enjoyable game, and while the bugginess can get to you sometimes just have a break and do something else, if you play too much of course you will start getting frustrated, you need to balance things out.

I will state a few of my irritations with the game, the bits which i think are the key areas which need improved upon, I think it is fair to state these but to go into mass detail about why Konami suck is a little strong. If like me you paid 30 quid or more for the game you dont want to read all these negatives lol, i was worried before i picked it up due to all this feedback, anyway heres what I'd like to see fixed -

1. PLAYER-SWITCHING, why they don't offer a higher player cycle when switching I have no idea, this can be very frustrating, especially if you want to bring a player deep from the back up to make a challenge.

2. OK, I dont know what to title this one so i'll go for, THE NEED TO USE SUPER-CANCEL TO FEEL FREE ENOUGH TO ROAM-

I dont know if anyone else finds this irritating but the automatisms in this game which prevent you from running at full pace when trying to defend or track your player close as possible without the need for SUPER-CANCEL is something i would like to be eradicated altogether, you should feel free all the time, it doesn't make sense to me why you need to hold these buttons down to run sharper.

3. PLAYERS GETTING IN THE WAY OF YOUR OWN PLAY -

4.
COMMENTARY - Nuff Said.

Too many times have I constructed an attack bringing players up the field only for the killer pass to be deflected off my own man and left defenseless because of this with the opponent now on a deadly counter-attack, I will sayI haven't seen too much of this in 2011 but this was a major reason I hated 2010.

Now, with all that being said, the rest of the game is, for lack of a better description, bloody brilliant! It really feels like Konami grafted this year and features like the stadium editor and improved menu-screens and presentation only compliment the (in my opinion) drastically improved gameplay, 1-2s have been resurrected from the hell that was pes 2010 among many other gameplay enhancements. While the tag-line "Engineered for Freedom" isn't entirely true in a lot of aspects including the aforementioned automatisms, it definitely is alot more-so than previous next-gen PES'.

I'll end on a high note and say to all those worriers reading these forums like I was 3 days ago, PES 2011 puts 2008, 2009, and certainly 2010 to shame. It is easily a true competitor to FIFA now and I think as these are both great games, flaws aside, lets keep this positive now, It is purely down to a mater of preference.

Enjoy. (You might see this on more than one thread because i want people to see this.)

#2 - Agreed. The player that's under the users control should NEVER move on their own ! Why do they feel the need to make these games practicality play themselves ?

Back in the day, if you played Maddens on sega ( genesis ) with manual settings on, the player that was under your control, never moved on their own. Now, everthing is totally automated.

Same thing with RBI baseball and manual fielding. you were in FULL Control of the player that was highlighted, and if you took your hand off the controller, guess what ? He stopped dead in his tracks. Now in MLB the Show 10 ( which is a good game because of the hitting & pitching, NOT the fielding ) the fielding feels very automated, even on manual.

Why are they dumbing down all these sports games nowadays and making them more automated ? It has to do with all these fancy animations, and trying to make it LOOK so real VS. giving the player more control over what actually happens out there.

I'll take the control over the eye candy myself. After all, i want to play the game on my own. I'll watch real games for the visual stimulation.

It's an awesome game of football. The variety of goals that can be scored puts fifa to shame. Nothing comes close to the joy of hitting a 30 yard screamer in the final minute to win the game by the skin of your teeth.

Annoys me when people say this. True, in FIFA you end up scoring a lot of one-on-one's, but PES was the ultimate game for scoring identical goals ALL the time...as in, run to the touchline-cut the ball back-tap in, even when someone does this in FIFA to me I call it a Pro Evo goal because it was made famous online in PES.

I don't find much joy in hitting a 30 yard shot which the keeper always parries, for my striker to run in for the tap in...not exactly a brilliant goal eh?

Not to mention in PES (as well as FIFA) you score from about 75% of crosses - not much variety.

Last minute goals do happen in FIFA as well.

its your choice if you want to score that type of goal where u run to the touchline & cut it bk. people will always take advantage of it but if your a good player you should be able to combat that type of goal.

when i play my mate we outlaw that type of goals ie it is not allowd and if you do cut it bk and score you would have to give a goal bk.
