If ever there was a "meh" game this is it.

THIS!!!! omg this.

I played it yesterday at my mates house, and I have got to say, i've never been more " :/ " in my whole gaming lifespan.

Looks exactly the same as MW2, just a bit worse and darker, its ridiculously fast, like played at breakneck speeds.

This is bad man, real bad.

Also, has anyone got it on PC? I heard they really fucked it up.

I'll stick to Battlefield, thanks Treyarch.

After reading some of the opinions, I'm glad that I didn't decide to buy this yet. People from my country complains about the lag and constant disconnect. We don't have this problem with MW2.

I think I'll stick with Bad Company 2. There's a new DLC about to be released.

I think I'll ask this as a Christmas gift instead. No money wasted if I didn't like it.

Don't you think killing people isn't as satisfying? When you shoot someone it feels like you're just shooting a cardboard cutout & the guns don't have that feel to them. Trust me I know how killing someone feels so I'm an expert.

I'm enjoying Black Ops alot more than i did with MW2 when it was first released, which is a good sign i suppose.

Has anyone else tried sniping yet? Treyarch have managed to completely ruin it :(

Theres enough in the game to keep me entertained for a good few months (Zombies), but no doubt i will return to CoD4 after i get bored with it.

A few Tomahawk kills i got

I know me too, i've killed over 9000 people. All jokes aside, I totally agree. There's jsut no weight to anything, people move way too fast, guns just spit out bullets like peas, it just doesn't feel right.

Disagree with this. Don't think it looks anything like Modern Warfare 2. And it definitely doesn't feel like it either. One thing I have noticed about Treyarch and Infinity Ward is that both have their own identity even if they are making the same game.

I should know this though, as I played MW2 for more or less the whole year

I am enjoying this, but I prefer the MW series. If all the changes are just maps, guns, equipment, perks, killstreaks and minor tweaks to the game, that does not bother me at all. Reason why is because I think it's an excellent game already and it needs no massive overhauls. Just tweaks to make it feel different and I feel it has delivered.

It's by far better than World At Shitty Ass War, so they've improved on their last game.

It's actually a bit too easy online at the moment. I killed six guys on a bridge on one map. They just kept running across even though they saw me taking out all of their guys.

They need to transform from n00bs faster.

Well I guess it was just the level I was playing then, I suppose I was being chased by people, so it must have seemed fast.

Looks exactly the same as MW2 in my opinion, and it doesn't look like they have changed anything at all.

Major disappointment, but then again, I wasn't going to buy it anyway, so no money wated for me :D

I agree with Joel, this game is definitely better than MW2 in my opinion. COD4 was the dogs bollocks, WaW was shite, and while MW2 was very good, it just didn't hit the same level of immenseness that COD4 had because of the sheer volume of glitches, hacks and bugs. Every match on MW2 involved some form of glitch, hack or bug, and that is being totally honest. It had potential to be an outright classic but Infinity Ward fucked it up by not protecting the game enough.

Black Ops though is really brilliant and the new points/currency system is a touch of class. Why should I have to wait hours and hours and hours on end just to unlock certain scopes for specifics weapons, providing I've levelled up enough and used the weapon in question constantly. It's a far better system now and gives the player a great freedom of choice, and allows the player to fully customise his weaponry on his own terms - to an extent. Treyarch have struck gold with the new system.

The gampleay itself is great too, and feels a shit load more balanced than MW2 ever did. The kill streaks aren't overpowering anymore and there is very rarely the sight of a noob-tube. The game encourages more tactical and precision play, even in the smaller faster paced maps. Whereas on smaller maps on MW2 it descended into frag fests and grenade launchers, in BO however, everyone is using bullets instead of bombs. The weaponry itself seems a lot more fun to use also, bar the sniper rifles unfortunately which I'm finding a bit hit and miss now. Sometimes I get one shot kills in the upper body, other times the enemy sprints away. Anywhere in the chest up should be an instant one shot kill I believe using a sniper rifle, however I hear the "classified" sniper (classified as you have to purchase the other 3 before you receive the chance to unlock it) is a one hit kill sniper rifle so that will be great to use I can imagine.

The whole interface for Black Ops is a lot nicer too, and while the graphics are probably a step down just ever so slightly, the gameplay at it's core is a lot more balanced making it more fun - even if I am getting my arse handed to me most of the time at the moment.

I'm happy they took out the quick scoping geeks that go on small maps and end up getting your team beat. Got my game on Friday, and have been playing it non stop I think! Completed the campaign mode last night. Found the campaign good and weird at the same time. Online is great also, love how you can customize loads of stuff, and use points you've gained to get weapons, perks and attachments. Overall I'm very happy I bought it.

Nice to see you're enjoying it as well.

I'm currently playing through the campaign and I'm probably 70% of the way through I'd say at a guess. There isn't as many "epic" moments as there was in MW2's campaign I don't think but as a story, it's a lot more solid and you feel a stronger connection with the character(s) as they progress. There are still some great moments of course and some really well thought out missions. I'd say the campaign is a step up on MW2's as well in terms of it's story telling.

Definitely! I never really liked MW2, due to the cheaters being able to use aimbot and cheat to get the rank 70 10th prestige. Really put a downer on a game that could have been so much better. I think that's why everyone that didn't like MW2 went back to COD4, you do get cheats on all games, but MW2 was something else. Yeah, the story mode was brilliant, you're right about the epic moments. But, like all games, it gets better as the story progresses. Good to see you're enjoying it too. I only have 1 issue with Black ops - when you invite your friend to play alongside you, and he can't connect for whatever reason, sometimes it doesn't let you send another invite. I don't know if it's just my game or if its happening to everyone else.

Yeah, Infinty Ward lost total control on the COD community once hacking and glitching came into play. The best solution they could come up with was hoping Microsoft would ban some consoles, that was about it. The community definitely took MW2 into their own hands, and bled it until there was nothing left.

I slightly misjudged my calculation on how much of the story I had left - I've just finished.

You're right, it did get more epic as the campaign progressed but I didn't want to actually say it incase people didn't actually want to know a thing with regards to the campaign. There really is some great moments in the campaign and I have to commend Treyarch and Activision on the story, as they managed to hit all the right notes and really string it together well.

After reading through here, I can't wait to get this next week... The new points system sounds great! I also heard at school that you can create your own emblems after a certain level, how exactly does this work? Is there a large range of images to choose from?

How are the maps and weapons on it? I heard the maps are more compact, and there's hardly any places to snipe on the maps.

I've also heard sniping is horrible; can anyone confirm this?

Congrats on finishing the game, yeah, me to, I hate when people ruin it for everyone. It's one of my pet hates! Treyarch have done a good job this year in my opinion. Taken over from Infinity Ward, and possibly, have done even better. I played zombies yesterday, even the zombie mode has improved since WaW. Seems harder to kill the zombies, so you need to get your power guns out quick style.

Fair point on n00btubers. I haven't been killed by one at all yet. But tbf, in the first months of MW2, it was the same.

I love the MW series, so I'm probably very biased towards it, but I've had fun with this so far. Deaths feel a bit more fair and killstreaks aren't dominating games (so far). It's all about skill so far, but I feel as the game gets older that will be thrown out of the window, because people always find ways to spoil a game (MW2).

I've also heard sniping is horrible; can anyone confirm this?

Read through Hunter's posts. He pretty much confirmed this.

Edit: Shame you're not getting it, Guillermo. We had some pretty good games in the first few months of MW2

Yeah, I agree. The hackers will always find a way to get through. Pretty much ruins the game for all the people who play fair. Then again, you'll always get someone who will try to fuck it up for everyone, and find it amusing.
