BELIEVE
Just found this and thought I'd let you know about it.

Pre order MW2 from Argos and use code: Game20 for a 20% discount

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5735552/Trail/searchtext>MODERN+WARFARE+2.htm

I should think so too if they're charging £45 for a game pre-order. It'll be on shelves the release day for probably £36-£40, and maybe just over £30 a week later with the way game prices are heading.

Thanks for the heads up though, keep them coming.

Shame Activision game out today and announced the RRP for the game in the UK due to "poor exchange rates" will be £55 (roughly $90) for the BASIC version.

They can take their game and shove it. I only wanted it for the SP (I think the MP is a sprayfest, don't like it at all) so now it's a rental instead of a buy.

I so hope their UK sales suck so much - this is daylight robbery and it's bang out of order.

I hope he's trolling.

EDIT - Maybe not..

I'm not sure about that. 2 years ago when I was coming home from college, I went to GAME to buy Modern Warfare and it cost me £45. The thing that annoyed me was that it was for sale for £40 on their website.

If this £55 is for real, then Activision can suck my balls.

Modern Warfare was one of the very few games that never seemed to go down in price. I can see this going the same way.

They'll never retail the base version for £55 considering most sites are already taking pre-orders for £40-45 anyway. If it does retail for £55, I hope the game dies a significant death and is considered the biggest gaming fuck up of all time. How any company can charge £55 for a game is beyond me, and also claim it's only a £5 hike in price - no, in fact it's a £15 hike since all new games retail for a maximum of £39.99 up here unless it's in special packaging.

£55? I'd rather gouge my left eye out and stick it up my own arse - facing inwards.

It wasn't long ago my parents spent 60 quid on N64 games.

Although it did mean I could only get one every year, 2 if I was lucky.

Ah the days of when games were £50/£60...

I can't find any websites with the prestige version available for pre order.

BELIEVE
HMV.com are now selling pre-orders for Modern Warfare 2:

Base Edition = £45
Steelbook Edition = £70
Prestige Edition (night vision) = £120

At least it's good to see that this "£55" rumour is just bullshit, and won't be enforced. While on the other hand, the steelbook and prestige editions are stupidly overpriced - no doubt a few freaks will buy them though.

I always used to laugh when people would make petitions and "boycott" games, but this is different. I'm not paying £55, £50 or even £45. The greedy bastards have already announced there'll be two map packs too, (with more to follow, I imagine) so you're looking at paying £70 at least, for the full experience.

See in absolute darkness up to 50 feet
Ability to view in black and white or night vision green
Custom-Designed and painted to replicate the in-game goggles
Wearable, adjustable and hands-free
Individually-numbered and engraved collector’s stand inspired by game character Captain “Soap” MacTavish, displays goggles when not in use

£45 for standard edition.

£70 for steelbook edition.

£120 for the prestige edition.

Has Activision gone mad, whats wrong being priced at £39.99 with online retailers nevermind the high street prices.

fuck me sideways.

I think the best bet is as Nev suggested, and using the GAME20 voucher on Argos to bring COD6's price down to £36 which is fairly reasonable.

(You can also use the voucher for other pre-orders).

UK retailer HMV has secured an exclusive on the Prestige Edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. (Y'know, the one with the night vision goggles.) The chain's online store confirms availability of the title on November 10 at a price of £149 ($243). It's noted that the edition will be in limited availability, although the limit of three to a customer is quite generous for a collector's item.

We've also received word from a retail source that GameStop will carry the set exclusively in Ireland, where it will sell for €149 ($211)
