Is anyone else finding the fact they've moved the skill controls from the right stick to thr left stick annoying? :realmad:

Any idea if you can swap them back? I've tried but can't work out how?

Anybody????

I've tried changing the controls on the option file but I can't find an option to change the right and left stick functions?

Enhance your calm. If you can't change it, learn to adapt. Consider it a challenge. Either way, shut whining & just make the most of the fact this is more than just a lazy update for a change.

That's a great help!!

By the way, I love the game, I just want to know if you can swap the functions of the left and right stick.

Hang on, are you saying that you can't play with the left analog stick? Or are we talking about the left and right triggers?

I can play with the left analog stick but I use the D-pad to dribble so I want to use the right analog stick to do skills.

The current set up has the left analog stick for the skills and I was just wondering if it was possible to change this so the right analog stick does skills?

If the left analog stick does skills, how can you also move players with it? I am confused by the setup...

If you flick it left to right the player does a quick turn and if you flip it all the way round (360) they do a twirly thing like always, otherwise it just works like the D-pad. I find if I use it for dribbling though I keep doing tricks by mistake.

The probelm is that if I use the D-pad for dribbling I need to take my finger off the D-pad to perform a trick on the left analog stick and so the player stops in mid-flight. I just can't understand the logic behind it?

Not Sure? I'm at work at the min but I'll give it a try when I get home. I just thought it was really strange that you couldn't change the functions of the two analog sticks?

The left analogue has been a control option for a while for direction (with the left for manual passing), so I would assume this was still the case rather than a dedicated trick stick a-la FIFA. By all means correct me if this is not the case for 2009.

Yeh it's still the case. It's just that the right analog was used for tricks last year and this year it's used as a short or long pass option, so I keep passing instead of doing a step over or twirl! I'll have a good play around tonight, maybe it's just a case of getting used to the new controls?

ok when setting up your controllers (for PC) in the settings thing just tell it that your right stick is your left and vice versa.

voila.

If you're on about a console version - unlucky.

Do the tricks not work in the same manner via the d-pad? e.g. quick left-right...

Oh me of little faith!

You were right Fick, the D-pad now does the little feints and the twirly thing! :w00t

I'm keeping the controls exactly as they are! I didn't quite understand how the manual pass worked last night but just been on training mode and its brilliant!

Which ever way you push the stick is the way you pass. So if you running forwards and press down and slightly to the right, your player will back heel it slightly to the right! I know it sounds fairly obvious but I thought it just worked like a through ball and automatically passed towards your man.

I'm really getting into this game now!! :D
