you obviously havent read my recent posts - I am a lot more open now to a fair debate on this but independent reviews are there to advise on the best product when there is multiple choice.

I have a lot of respect for Eurogamer and while I aknowledge its not the best written review I believe they are unbiased. They score PES 7/10 and FIFA 9/10
How does fifa get a 9 with all the things that are wrong with it, the mm is completly broken, the keepers are quite poor at times. How do these things never get mentioned in the fifa reviews.

The best reviews are the user reviews.

seriously wtf, of course PESFan is gonna sound good, if anything that would be the biased one. ever think that PES just isnt a good game this year thus the score? I wouldnt know i havent played the game but alot of the reviews/previews have said this and suddenly there all biased but ones from a PES site arent?
Don't be put off by the reviews and other peoples opinions, just hang on until next Friday.

F**K all these reviews. I'll review the game myself once I've got it next week.

Not by reviews by people that I don't know that could possibly be baised either towards PES or FIFA.

I think everytime I review a game I get it spot on. I get FIFA and PES every year so I know the games inside out.

That's what all you guys should do too. Review it for yourself once it is out.
And if your relying on reviews to make a decision to buy the game or not - It's the wrong decision.

I believe it's the ign review that sums it up very good. They say that FIFA has become the more simulation'ish game (in my oppinion with settings set to semi/manual - they are right) - but PES IS the more FUN to play. I agree. The WE demo was way more fun to play than the FIFA ditto.

And Shaun: I see what you're getting at, when you try to stress that animation and graphics are not the same. Well they are. All other games are judged by both animations and their looks ("graphics") when they get scored a graphics score. Sometimes games just get rewarded and extra mention because of superior animations - but all in all it's still under the catagory "Graphics".

It's just, now we have two games that are very similar about the same genre/sport. And between those two there is a clear difference in how good they look moving, static and in general. FIFA is far superior when in motion. It's more fluid in every way, and controlling a player seems seamless because of the fluidty. It even has incoorporated some very nice clash-animations, so when two opposing players run next to eachother for the ball, they start pushing and pulling at eachother to get the advantage. Something that works very well, something essential you see everyday in a real live footballgame and something that sorely missing in PES.(

PES - on the other hand - has the player likeliness. That's in statute, build and facial likeliness. Because of that, you wouldn't hardly need a HUD since you are able to see which player has the ball, because the player on screen (even from "wide camera") looks (and to some degree - feels) like his real life counterpart.

What PES also has, is the X-factor that make every game seem different! This is FIFA's biggest hurdle! I think it comes down to, that every team and individual player in FIFA feels too much alike...? So you end up playing the same type of football be you Barcelona or OB (Odense Boldklub - danish league...) - which couldn't be far more from the real life!
I read somewhere, that FIFA has used the engine from their NHL franchise - and that really shines through - IMO. Make quick short passes and the occasional through-pass in FIFA, and you are surely successfull 99% of the time. Decreese those % by scwitching passing to manual, 'cause then you'll have a harder time making precise passes - but then you'll loose whatever small player differences there is i FIFA.

In most of the other reviews I've read today (german and spanish) they also give PES a lower score because of the missing german and spanish licenses... Big deal huh? - NOT! ;o)

But given the choice of either better facial graphics over better animations - I would choose animations any day!
But giving the choice to play the most fun and varying game over the more simulation'ish and reapeating - I would choose the first!
See the comflict there? Both games has one very important thing over the other. And because of that, I just might end up not buying any of the two games this year - because none of them really - really stand out.

And that's eventhough this years PES might be the best PES overall!!
But to sum it all up - IMO the ign reviews sums it up pretty good... (if I remember correctly!) ;o)

Great comment Bro..
I'm only disagree about the simulation part.. I play %90 of the game with manual passing (right stick) . I know it is difficult to implement but it makes the game far more real than the playing only with passing buttons..
The only part of Fifa which is better than PES is the player animations and fluidness in player movements.. beside this pes is the only soccer simulation game for last 10 years...

Because the Fifa 10 gameplay is by and large intact and not broken. Sure theres a little bit of iffy keeping but gameplay wise its solid. its only some of the modes that are buggy, and they should be fixed in the next week or so.

I know but I just don't agree with it. :)

Also I'll get both games as usual and then decide which is better for me.
I'll be fair as always.

Well FIFA10 is amazing at the moment. It does have that 'Pick up and play' factor and the more I play it the more I get used to it.

I personally think FIFA will be the better game this year.

I can't really comment too much on PES2010 as the game isn't out yet, but once it does, i'll be sure to post my feelings and thoughts about PES2010 on these forums.

I could be totally wrong about FIFA being better this year. Just like I was totally wrong last year. I said PES will get back up after being knocked down with PES2008. But it didn't. Not all the way anyway...

This year I think PES will get back up fully and PES2010 will be an amazing football game.
Whether it will beat FIFA is still yet to be seen. Maybe next week.

Even if PES2010 is the better game, I doubt that reviewers and FIFA Fan boys will agree, looking at how stubburn FIFA Fan boys can be.

Anyway, like i've said before - Lets just wait for the 23rd Oct.

^True. But let's be more fair and give both games a month chance? That way we would know better. Because from my experience, pes is best reviewed when played over a long period.

Yh good point. You need to play PES for a while to let it adapt.

I've already given FIFA a few weeks, so with PES i'll do the same.
Sorry if you thought I literally meant 'Next Week'..

They won't be a full in depth review.

Just a little one for each game. You know, just so you get the big picture.
But I think my 'mini reviews' will be accurate. ;)

Thanks ;)

Yes of course reviews should be taken notice of, because not all are baised, and even if they are, the reviews are a good read and provide good info on the game.

But yea I understand what you mean m8:happy:

Hi guys. I am the guy who reviewed the game on gamerlife and gave it a 7/10.

The review was quite short but I was pushed on time constraints. In all honesty, some of you are going to love it, some are going to hate it, a bit like Marmite. It is a shame that trend is developing with PES as it was always brilliant until recent years. But,it is only my opinion, so don't shoot me down!

If you want to ask me any questions on PES, feel free, but please do it on gamerlife. I'm not trying to pull people off this site, far from it as it is awesome, it is just easier to manage on our own site. www.gamerlife.co.uk and head to the forums.

Have to say i'm a little disappointed with the reviews so far. The thought process of most of the reviewers seems to have been: "I like Fifa. I can't play the same way on PES that I play on Fifa. No thanks". I'm not too sure they've given the game much of a chance. The beauty of pro evo is that there is an adjustment/learning period. You need to get a good couple of dozen of games under your belt before you're fully able to make a proper decision.

The most accurate review so far IMO is IGN. The general consensus there is that the game is old fashioned but still plays a damn good game of football. I think that pretty much sums up PES2010. It plays as good as it did during its PS2 heydey but hasn't really advanced the series in anyway. I think this kind of reflects Francis' opinion on the front page.

Personally, after playing the WE demo, i'm convinced this is going to be the best PES yet. Although it doesn't beat FIFA in-terms of 'next-gen' features, it blows it out of the water when it comes to enjoyment. After all, that's what games are all about.

You could say the same about a few on here and Fifa mate.

Thats what winds me up. Reviewers get criticised for not giving it a chance when the review scores are not favourable yet no one is prepared to let Fifa grow on them in here and a few other pes forums. i'd say Fifa has just about as much adjustment/learning curve/period as Pes when you play manually but no ones really prepared to give it a go. Its like people just pick up the controller and immediately dont like it.
