Controlled/Placed Shots

Ali

Why is it, that it's so difficult to play a controlled shot (ie R2 whilst shooting on the PS3/4) "across body"? By this I mean a right footed shot to the left of the goal and a left footed shot to the right of the goal. Seems to be a shit shot every time I try this!
If I'm on the left side of the goal (ie keeper's right) with a right footer and play it to the right side, it's fine, if a little overpowered. But if I'm cutting in from the right with a right footer.... completely the opposite!

I think what you are referring to only works with players who have the 'outside curler' skill card. But even then it is not a sure shot goal. The thing is that the goal keepers cover their near post better, I think. I have only beaten keepers at the near post when the shot is along the ground and the player taking the shot had a high 'Kicking Power' stat. Also, players who have high stats of shooting and kicking power, who also have 'Long Range Drive' are totally overpowered (eg. RvP).

Ali you mean doing a Quaresma?

If yes, what Parkinfed said is not necessarily true. I've given the Curler card to Ruben Neves, and he does uses outside-of-the-boot passes much more often, but mainly they are more accurate. The same when shooting, a player does not need the card to be able to do them, but it's very, very rare and difficult for them to do it if they don't have the card.

From my experience, in order to shoot (somewhat) like this, you don't need to have R2 pressed. If you are on the right of the pitch, with a right footed player, and aim towards the left post (your left), like a crossed shot, the player will most likely shoot with some kind of inwards effect, but not really a trivela. The bext example is Roberto Carlos' freekick. These kind of shots are quite normal in PES2015 actually, just give it a bit more power and they will go like this.

To make a true trivela... that's more difficult. It is indeed very rare, and I do think you need to have R2 pressed, aim to the far post, and press [] when the player has his left foot on the floor (for a right foot shot). Honestly, it is a bit too random.

rebelinho - no, not that.

Let's say I running through on goal slightly towards the right from the attacker's point of view. I want to place a controlled shot in the left corner. If the attacker is left footed, he will simply try to curl it round the keeper, and it often works very well. If the attacker is right footed, more often than not the shot will go straight at the keeper or hopelessly wide of goal.

You want to make the red shot, but it's the blue that happens all the time?

Or should the red shot be aimed to the other post?

Not quite. I want to make the blue shot (controlled), with a right footed player. The ball usually goes miles wide, or straight at the keeper. If I did it with a left footed player, the ball would likely find the net.

You mean like if you were taking a free-kick, where you curl it with your instep, where you try to curl it to the near post, while facing the far post? I.e. you're curling the ball away from the GK, rather than towards?

Yeah. But even just a simple placed strike to the opposite side of the goal to the striking foot (say I'm running straight at goal roughly in line with the right side of the semi circle). If you can remember Michael Rickett's goal at Old Trafford (which you probably won't), that's a good example.

Well, it must be difficult to place a shot like this, and it will most likely go way off the goal. The smallest mistake when touching the ball will mean a big variation near the goal line (irl), so ingame it must be even more difficult.

To be honest I don't remember if I ever tried a similar shot, but knowing this game I find perfectly possible to be almost impossible to score.

I know what you mean. Only works for me if it's a low shot (even then hardly works) or close to goal. Never a top corner from range sort of goal.

I know what you mean. It's not difficult. That's because the game decides alot of things against you and has the control. It's like the game engine has primary control and you the secondary. The game even forces your player to use the wrong foot, whe you're not supposed to score.

Is this the type of shot that you mean? but with more curl away from the GK and the striker is more to the right?

Yes, it's very difficult to do in PES(even using messi on the left side with his high swerve and finishing stats) and i can't remember a player in real life who scores that way.

If you really wanted to target the far post using a right footer, A more practical shot to do in that angle is the Suarez goal. A normal low shot.
