I seem to have noticed that pace on the ball this year is really a lot slower, even with players like aguero or Walcott, has anyone else noticed this?

Im not saying I dont like the slower and more methodical pace of gameplay but it seems like every player loses most of their pace when running with the ball. It only seems to get better if you punt it forward by double tapping r2, but thats a lot more awkward than fifas right stick flick, dunno why konami think would want to double tap a button over flicking a stick.
Overall I like the pacing but its annoying that no pacey player can pull away down the wing, even if there is 30 yards ahead that is completely free, its like a mix of the catch up bug from 2011 and the game from last year. I dont want it to be fifas style of 12 aubameyang hacking but to have antonio caught by david silva, just because he is dribbling is a bit jarring.
