reading the above about picking up games fro 1.99 reminded me again when Pac Man was released for the Atari 2600 in 1982 for $50. The game console wasn't more than $100 at the time. And to think that a top video game today costs about $59.99. It was a crazy price. Most other Atari games sold for $15-25

But that was the heyday of the Pac Man craze with the original arcade version released in 1980.

It is happening again
I also remember being fooled time and time again by an amazingly cool looking loading screen. Like a ninja exploding from a truck firing an Uzi with one hand and throwing shurikens with the other while simultaneously smacking some baddie commando in the face with a flying kick. :ninja: :eek:hmy:

Then the game started and it consisted of you moving a poorly drawn, tiny black figure through a small purple maze while being chased by green squares.

THOSE WERE THE DAYS I TELLS YA! :D

I had a game for the GameGear that I bought because it had cool looking dragon on the front. I forget the name of the game, it was 'Dragon____', I'll try to find out later. Basically it was a fancy sidescrolling type version of that game where you move the paddle to bounce the ball into the bricks. Not a bad game per se, but not what I was expecting.

Talking of buying games based on their cover, i Thought this was the best looking game cover ever as a kid, then I played the game and it was wretched. A first person dungeon crawler that was ridiculously hard. 6 year old me went *nope*

I had some games for Atari 2600;
F14 Tomcat
Dodge 'em
Ms. Pacman
Realsports soccer
Ice Hockey
Crystal Castles
Golf
Indy 500
Pole Position
Skate Boardin': A Radical Adventure
Roc n' Rope
Chess

All of them sucked terribly except for Chess.

I had the activision ice hockey, 2v2, no goalie
I loved Dodge em because for many years it was the closest thing to pac-man before it finally came out. You could have patterns because the opposing "cpu" driver was predictable.
and that 3v3 Pele's soccer. so many games, you are going to make me list them all now
