Far Cry 3

Started playing this today and it is just an incredible game! The map is HHUUUUGGGGEEEE. And it's not barren land like a certain other huge game. The wildlife in the game has been implemented very well. such variety, on and off land.

The story has been brilliant up to now.
The last Far Cry was a bit depressing but this story seems much more interesting. Some brilliant characters in the game.
The bad guy's in Far Cry 2 were just mental because you were under constant attack and it did get tedious, but they have seemed to struck up a perfect balance of patrolling bad guys this go round.

Was jumping off a rock into the water because there was a patrol boat passing, landed in the water and was confronted with a massive stingray and it made me jump out of my seat a bit:blush:. I quickly got out of the water ran up a hill and was then savaged to death by a tiger:lol:

Can't really comment on the console graphics but the PC's are stunning in Dx11.

Only gripe is that the guys have a little glow around them in the cut scenes at times. Think it might be down to the Ambient Occlustion.

Seriously go and by this game NOW.

I'm tempted but don't want to waste money. I played the first one but that seems like a long time ago.

I'm going to pop in Tesco's on the way home and see what price is it. Been reading some reviews and it sounds good.

You forgot to mention the EXTREME handholding, follow this HUGE green on-screen dot, go right, go left, up here, in there. This game is so dumbed down that a monkey could beat it. IT SUCKS! Don't buy it, ever!

Basically, yes. Just because everyone else does it, doesn't make it good. It's a stupid implementation, especially when you're not able to remove it. Those "follow me closely" missions, or as I call it, "follow the big green dot" missions is just filler piss.. put it in a damn cutscene if it's that important and give me complete freedom when I control the character.

If you're not bothered by the "hand holding" in todays games, it's a sign that you are indeed one of the stupid ones that those handicap aids were implemented for.

The big green on-screen arrows in Saints Row the third is a fucking game killer for me, the dots on the minimap is already TOO MUCH! Give me a fucking address, and I'll find it myself! Immersion is losing the battle, people today are too lazy to play a computer game properly. I'm sure they'll release games soon where there is only one button, and it's pressing "enter" or "X" between cut-scenes.

That breaks Saints row for you? Not that it's a crappy game but the radar did it for you?
You have a map do you not expect it to be used? I think the little arrow thing is a little unnecessary though

I think you take games far too seriously, just enjoy them.

Except that almost every game allows you to disable these notifications via options.

To be honest, I don't see the problem with waypoint markers. Assassin's Creed 3 would be a pain in the ass without a minimap.

The fact that I want the waypoints removed indicate that I actually WANT to use the map... how could you miss that?
Besides, FarCry3 is a bad game in every way. There is nothing positive about it, with or without green waypoint markers. It's a dumb game for idiots, whereas Flashpoint Dragon Rising is how to make a proper FPS. Not that I am fan of FPS in general, because I don't like those games especially. I don't like Saints Row either, it's a shallow piss game with a poor story, but I like the humor in SR2 and the graphics in SR3 makes it worthwhile as a sandbox for a short span.

Well anyway....
I've been enjoying this game immensely.
Not had so much fun with a game since San Andreas I don't think.
Struggling to kill the tigers though with guns, they just seem to just soak up the AK bullets before it attacks. Did manage to kill one though in spectacular fashion. I was at a mission where I had to disable an alarm in stealth mode, got seen and just ran out of their site because I was low on health. Hiding in the bushes while the guys were hunting me and I see a tiger roaming, was hoping the pirates would come my way and get attacked by it but it smelt me out I think because I could see it sniffing the air with its head lifted. Managed to put a satchel bomb down and waited till it spotted me and when it started charging I just blew that mofo up. Was epic. Been some hilarious moments as well while I'm stalking and plotting a way how to stealth kill the pirates and you see them shitting themselves because a tiger or Comodo dragons are attacking them:laugh: Even saw a guy get killed by a pack of Ostriches (I think they were)

It's fucking mental roaming through the map because there's so many deadly animals.

Still a pain in the arse like far cry 2 to heal yourself when under attack at times.

I've not done any missions yet apart from the ones your forced to do. I've taken the first base and have just been causing havoc and exploring since then. I keep dieing though Asia run out of ammo quickly as I haven't upgraded anything. It'll probably hold my attention once I get my character some upgrades. I don't like how everything is shown on the map, I like to search for stuff (like in fallout) as I find it more rewarding when you find something awesome. I soo wanna go all Rambo in this game and run round with a knife and a bow lol.
