Yeah, every year I always end up buying the new FIFA, and within a month get tired of scoring the same goal over and over again. Every year I tell myself "What a waste of money, I'm not buying that again.

But I'm yet to play 07, I'll probably try it out considering the praise it's gotten.

Hey All

Right as you will see from my post count ive properly never posted on here before, but I am a regular reader of these threads as im a huge pro evo fan, as well as a football fan in general.

Their have been many times where i've switched types of game, as well as console... I'll give an example.

My very first football game, I believe, was sensible soccer on the mega drive followed up by Premier Manager 1997

Tastes change as you will see, from there I had Fifa 97, where indoor football was class but the game was still lookin back not as fun, which back at my age then, an technology wise, was appealing. The final game I had football wise was ISS Deluxe
Pro evo today basically, was for its time amazing.
I moved on to an N64 an my first football game for that was another FIFA, FIFA 64... an if any of you have played it surely you will agree with me, worse football game of ALL time on any format.
FIFA 99 an FIFA 1998 World Cup were 2 of my favourite games again at the time, But ISS 98, a game i never owned, was very addictive... it was growing on me. Manager wise, id met a little known game at the time called Championship Manager 2. Im sure, yes this is a PES site but how many of you play, or have played a carnation of that. To this day I have followed CM/FM, modern day CM is a FIFA...

Move on to PS2, an two FIFA Games, 2002, an 2002 World Cup, were okay but no real thrill, I could win 5/6 nil. No problem, but no fun. I found a game around a friends called Pro Evo... bought it for a bargain price an I've only bought one FIFA since...

Pro Evo is by far the best football game because unlike any other Football Game, even management, theres no real set way of winning... Sure i dont lose much now but stick on 6 star an pick a west brom/wigan of the world an take on Brazil an that is a test ;)

Anyways, evading the point now... I've never been one to rule anything out, theres no point an in a way all of you should be happy when games raise their game. None of you have actually Pro Evo 6 yet, you will have played betas , Winning Eleven (which I have played an am so far impressed but i'd rather wait for PES6). So any comparison between the games is irrelevant to b honest, which means 3 pages of this thread have been a waste. Wait till the game is out an compare it then. But, if FIFA is good, all you pro evo lovers, like me, should be happy because, it will mean PES need to raise their game on the next gen. Then EA will... an it results in everyone having a better end product. So yea. Give FIFA a chance, see what you like on it, maybe not in terms of gameplay, but in modes, options, presentation. Then tell Konami about it. If enough people say for example message them saying 'Get rid of Terry Butcher' as play by play commentator then Konami eventually will look at it, either at improving at it, or replacing. Presentation has improved with everygame, but sure maybe that could be looked at. An although I've never seen it myself the master league seems to be falling behind FIFAS career mode? Master League, was, at first, the best thing on pro evo, but now is stale.

All these points you know, all im saying is both games need, an will improve, based on each other. They can learn so to speak an id love personally to see a pro evo with presentation of a FIFA game, not licences but in terms of menus, mayb music, commentators, stadia, graphics etc, an also modes.

Maybe i'll post back a week after the release date (27th i believe), guess ill wait for feedback if any off you lot.

Cheers for the read if ya did anyhow, an thanks for the coverage Pesinsight.com :)

Thank God... Somebody with some common facking sense. Im sick of all of these people saying 'FIFA is shyte, period. It always has been shyte, and always will be'. It hasn't been the same type of game as PES. It's aim, until now, was to be it's own game completely unlike PES. Now they want to emulate PES's style, and thats just fine with me. It was never the best game, but it offered the best of one world that PES could not offer atmosphere... The complete licensing was a plus, but never really mattered to me. The sights and sounds are what gave that game any notability at all. If they can nail gameplay, which they will sooner or later, they'll have a gem.

Well said nickwales.

Bravo nick, bravo.

I haven't had the chance to buy/try FIFA 07 yet, but I certainly won't worry about it beating PES this year around. And to those that keep no saying "FIFA is shite", why still buy it? FIFA is a football game, I'll love it. Maybe not the gameplay, but I think there is definitely something that FIFA will keep me busy with till Pro 6 comes out.

I downloaded the Fifa demo like I do every year, it's been fun to play it a little although I haven't played enough to judge it. The only negative points I have found so far are strange running animations and some heavy swerve on most shots.

People say we should give Fifa a chance this time, but you see, after my history with Fifa I just find that very hard to give it any more chance then having an odd go at the PC demo (I play PES on the PS2).

Fifa was the best game ever, in my mind, back when I played 98. Then came 2000. Felt too fast and the tricks were wierd, and even though I was scoring 2-3 bycicle kicks a match at a high difficulty, I still loved it and claimed it to be the best football game in the world.

Thankfully I gave Pes (Iss) a chance and what an eye opener. After 3 games I was hooked. In the first days I converted many, and even non-gamers loved it. It was just so friggin real.

I tried to play some more of EA's efforts... Euro 2000, the worst framerate I have ever seen. Fifa 2001 with it's dotted lines turned me off Fifa for good. Dotted lines? The worst idea ever.

But the worst part... the very worst part was knowing that people were still rushing to stores to buy the vastly inferior game. And loving it. Sure, presentation and teams have always been better in EA's games. But the graphics have actually been better in PES for quite a few years now. Still there are people who say "Graphics in Fifa are way better" and what can I say, it just hurts.

PES get's better every year (yes I think PES5 is the best... after all, it's been almost a year and it still forces me to rethink tactics almost every game). Minimal changes from last year, you say. Well, I am still playing and loving it, like I do every year.

OK so EA have made a good game this year, by slowly copying more and more of PES over a few years. Hurrah. But they will have to do a lot more then that to make up for years of nonsense games.

fifa is for ppl with no skill, thats the fact im not saying fifa 07 cus frankly i havent played it, but for fifa 06 backwards it takes no skill what so ever to score and the majority of ppl are saying 07 is the same, but tbh i will always chose pes over fifa due to the skill involved and it just simply feels more fuller.

Ok, i feel like i've to put my opinion here again.

I've to repeat that FIFA 07 is the first FIFA i've ever bought, believe me or not, that's the true. I've never liked FIFA style and i'm playing football games since i was a child, if i'm not wrong my first serious addiction to a foot game was with Sensible Soccer (for Megadrive or SNES... can't remember now) and then came SUPERSOCCER for SNES, ok, the thing is even when i was a child i never liked FIFA. Then i discovered ISS PRO DELUXE and it started it all, my PESMANIA! that still lasts and probably will last until,

a) I get tired of videogames

b) I get tired of football

Both options are not realistic.

Ok, all that story comes because i've to admit that FIFA 07 is a good football game and i'm enjoying it, specially after PES5 just because it's the most disapointing game in the series (it's just my opinion), the continous faults that not allow the game to be dinamic and "rhytmic" and the absolutely boring CPU style makes me get tired of the game (it has wondered me because i've never get tired of playing PES in any previous edition).

I can resume it all -> FIFA is improving, obviously is COPYING PES, but... they're doing things right as they already have the best graphics, sounds and comments and now they're approaching to the playability of PES, of course there's no comparison but the efforts are noticiable in the last edition of FIFA.

KONAMI are stuck in their own "We've made the best football game ever", and i really think they'll have to work hard in the next gen if they don't want to loose their, absolutely deserved i must say, status.

I've never enjoyed so much a game as i do with PES, but i'm really dissapointed with them, please wake up Konami!!!

fifa will always be in the shadow of PES its as simple as that. Time and time again konami have kicked FIFAs ass into the curb. The realisation is simple, people play fifa cause its easy to score and win so they will obviously back that. The real hardcore football gamers follow PES simple enough the game offers something new and diff every match and u hardly if never score the same goal twice.

Competition between Konami and EA will for sure result in a perfect football game and I think every PES fan support this.

No way this season. I played Fifa07 and it is very bad. What is important to me or in other words my priorities are the gameplay and the tactics, both of them are zero in Fifa07. However I respect Fifa07 presentation, it is usually improved.

This is what we are discussing here in PESinsight, how to improve the game and what are the points of weakness and power in PES and hope that Konami hear us!!!!!!!!!!

Hope that there is some improvement in the master league of PES6. However I am pretty sure that it will be addictive.

Yes, PES need to improve commentators and music mainly but the graphics are okay and the menus of PES6 are very good lookin from the screenshots that I've seen.

Tried fifa 2007 both on xbox and ps2 (seven games with barnet in division two). I think fifa is an excellent football videogame as PES5 is an excellent football simulator...

I just thought I'd add my two pence worth. I've been playing FIFA 07 on PC for about a week now, and I think it is highly improved. It's too easy - I won an international Cup on World Class on my first go with England, you have too many shots (off target I might add) but you can score some good goals and there is actually a sense of achievement that there hasn't been in the FIFA series for some time. It will hold my interest until PES6 comes out, and I'll probably keep playing it every now and again if PES doesn't highly improve on PES5. I must stress that PES is better and more than likely always will be. but there is no harm playing FIFA for a bit of fun, and this time round, you have a lot more. I urge people to give it a chance, I wouldn't buy it though...I'd rent it if I was you and actually give it the time of day...

I'm happy fifa is improving...but I don't think enough to bother konami. Would be good if they could step up a gear on the next gen...infact I think they have to before fifa catches up in terms of gameplay. I think I need to rent 07 I have NEVER bought a fifa game before.
