Waiting....
I like PES6 and PES2008.

The thing I'm not liking about FIFA10 at the moment is that chipping is way too easy. When ever the computer gets in a one-on-one position with my GK, the goalie will step out for an easy chip. Apart from that, I don't think I can complain (apart from the obvious underrating of the goalies in the first place).

BELIEVE
PES6 was rubbish on the 360.

It was quite possibly one of the best online sports games ever to be fair. Single player it was very dogged by a lack of edit mode, but in terms of online play, it is still regarded as the premium example of online football.

I had another go of FIFA last night. Some of the "fouls" the ref blows up for are ridiculous. They're as bad as PES of old. It can be a bit annoying when that ogre Essien can knock you flying with a shoulder barge and get away with it, but when you attempt to do the same back as Inesta the ref will award a foul or play advantage, which more often than not gets called back for a foul anyway.

What is everyones preferred method of control; assisted, manual, or semi-assisted?

I was playing on assisted, which is (if I'm correct) the method provided in PES, and upon switching to semi-assited (and manual were semi-assited was not an option) it was a world of hurt, as well as a world of change. What that change did highlight, though, was how "on the rails" PES has been, and still is. In PES 2009 and on the PES 2010 demo you simply have to flick your analogue loosely in the right direction and the computer does the rest for you. The computer can even put your pass to the incorrect player simply because they are calculated to be the better option, even though the pass you wanted to play was one hundred percent on.

I was specifically aiming my pass to go x amount of yards behind the player to recieve it, and it was still being put right to his feet. The same attempt in FIFA 10 (on semi-assisted or manual) will actually go x amount of yards behind the player on the receiving end of said pass, meaning it brings gamer skill into the frame much, much more.

Perhaps there has been/is an option for this on PES 2009/the PES2010 demo?

The one area where semi-assited and manual leaves me a little confused is in regard to how player stats then come into it. Does the gulf in class then become more blurred between players like Xavi, one of the games finest passers, and Momo Sissoko, a player who can't pass for the life of him. If we, the gamer, have more control over directing our passes, are player stats still brought into the equation to determine just how accurate, crisp, and properly weighted the passes shall be. I would hate to lose player individuality as such.

Then there is semi-assisted and/or manual shooting. That made the passing look like a walk in the park!

I completely agree and genuinely struggle to understand the PES fans who say FIFA 10 plays badly or the same as 09, of course it's personal opinion but maybe you had to have played 09 to death before realising the brilliant changes implemented into 10.

i agree, like any deep game you have to play it to death to realism how good it is. For me the true excitement of getting a brilliant football game is back this year, i haven't had this since the last pes released on ps2. Many people just say things to try and prove there point which for me is the most frustrating thing about this forum

FIFA 10 v PES 2010 (demo)

for me. FIFA is the only winner. In PES the movement and passing etc seems very robotic & controlled. The only decent part I've found is the shooting. But in terms of movement & freedom of play-FIFA pisses all over PES.

Just my opinion

fifa feels more like pes than pes does if that makes sense. I really looking forward to seeing what the manager mode is like. Been reading some blogs by marcel kuhn and it sounds like they really have listened to the feedback at EA.

Yeah I don't like either game so I guess I'll be sticking to playing real football this year :p

Scored this absolute screamer with Schweinsteiger last night.....defender misjudges the header and then a rocket of a half volley is unleashed! Should of got a different angle of it because the bend on the ball was amazing!

Cracking volley mate. Well played.

Whenever I play FIFA, and even if I was trailing or drawing, when the ball sits up like that I always have to hit it, I couldn't have taken that ball down and gone one on one with the keeper, it's too tempting to hammer it goalwards first time so for me that goal is a fine example of how I like to play the game.

Eh, it was OK, but any normal person would've run in on goal and scored the one-on-one. Given that it's a demo and the matches don't mean anything, I probably would've done that too. >_>

Haha, i'd of done that demo or not dude! It sat up perfectly and Schweinsteiger has got a beast of a shot on him on this game anyway so the one-on-one never even came into my thoughts! lol. Just couldn't get over the power of it as soon as it left his boot!

As Alan Partridge would say...."SHIT! Did you see that? He must have a foot like a traction engine!"
