Played both for bit now and I prefer pes2011. The new 360 passing system is great however I did spend most of my first match passing to the other team and putting the ball out for a throw in. It does become quite intuitive though and you can string some attractive passages of play together. Fifa 11 on the other hand feels very crowded with the smaller pitch which I found quite frustrating.

Just seemed to have more fun playing pes2011 hope online is better this year, if theres still a slight button lag then this 360 passing will really backfire as it needs to be precise, it could be great or it could be one big clusterfuck.........

I cant make my mind up, both are OK but both have their faults.

The camera angle is doing my head in more than anything else on PES2011 to be honest.

My first goal on PES2011

Pro Evolution is way better to me. I've actually never liked fifa but I gave it a try this year. I just don't get the hype about it. Like somebody else said about it..the player physics just feels off to me, like they're literally ice skating on the field..it's pathetic. Though I will say that the commentary is amazing, sheer class. Pro Evolution really feels like they have revamped the whole gameplay engine for the better. The game is amazing. The passing system is a bit harder than in previous editions, which I feel if you practice, it will be mastered. Plus when you do a through pass, and it reaches your desired player it really makes you feel good. The player animations are better too, and dribbling is as fun as ever. All in all, I really can't wait for this game to release.

Yeah both are a decent play but PES just feels much better. My only critiscm is it seems hard to shoot, maybe I just haven't got the hang of it yet.

PES:

  • The game generally seems to promote good football. You really need to make a good flowing movement to get the ball into a shooting position. There's much less defensive AI mistakes (i.e. completely leaving players unmarked, etc).
  • The new passing system is great. It's much harder and will take some getting used to, but it's all for a more dynamic and challenging game.
  • Animations are much better. More variety and generally more fluid.
  • WTF have they done to the shooting? I've been playing the demo none-stop since it came out so I don't think it's a case of 'just get used to it'. With the standard power I'd use in previous games the ball seems to just fly over the bar more often than not, then with a little less pressure they don't seem to hit it hard enough. PES's shooting was one of the best features, why change it...
  • The refereeing seems way too harsh, and there's no advantage which completely slows down the play and ruins any fluidity.

There has been hundreds of times were i've come at an opponent from the side to put in a standard conservative tackle, take all of the ball before the man, but then as the player follows through to collect the ball he makes contact with the player and the ref blows. It's REALLY frustrating.

FIFA:

I'm not going to go into detail, but FIFA once again seems like a very polished and good quality game. There are much less annoyances, and the football is all very good.

One main flaw is there personality+ and 360 passing. PES does both of these things better than fifa. 360 passing seems restricted rather than free. And as for P+, you can put centre backs up front and your keeper in midfield and they'll still knock it around like xavi and iniesta.

I prefer PES and think its gameplay is better and more rewarding in the long-run. Fifas play style seems too same-y to me, and I think I'll get bored of it pretty soon.

However, I do think that from an objective point of view FIFA is the better game. It's hard to explain. It seems more refined and finely-tuned, where PES is still a bit raw, but that's to be expected. Afterall, PES was pretty much revamped and fifa didn't change a whole lot. I don't think the creators expected pes2011 to beat fifa this time round anyway, they even mentioned this being a base to improve on, and they've done very well at that.

PES easily. Played enough of FIFA to even unlock Arsenal, won most if not all the games on penalties because a 3 minute demo on a tiny crowded pitch is just awful. So, for me the FIFA demo sucked balls. PES on the other hand is still very addicting, the only downside is having to go to the dashboard to skip that trailer at the end which is 7 frickin minutes long! The gameplay is brilliant though and very rewarding. Will be getting PES again this year, not sure on FIFA, FIFA 10 was good but PES 2010 lasted longer for me last year. I still have FIFA 2010 and 11 seems no different, may skip on this one. Can't wait for PES this year.

I stopped reading at graphics. PES 2011 >= PES 2010 > FIFA 11 in terms of graphics. I currently own both PES 2010 and FIFA 2010. FIFA 11 is no different to 10 so I may skip on this one and just get PES 2011.

Played both and so far I prefer PES. I am no fanboy and prefered FIFA 10 to PES 2010 -- the laggy controls for PES last year was a deal breaker. But this year based on the demos FIFA feels the same as last year, except with slower passing. Nothing new. Teams still all feel the same. As someone pointed out, it seems like FIFA 10.5. I was excited for this year's edition, especially after playing the World Cup. That game was great. But this demo... well I am a bit disappointed.

PES on the other hand has impressed me. So far I really enjoy how teams feel. They really do seem to play like they do on the weekends. Barca plays wide with passing while players have that individual feel. I was playing as Barca against Bayern on the PC (I also have the PS3 version) and was down 2-0. It was refreshing to see Bayern compact their defense in in order to nullify me from working the middle and walking the ball in. It was something I have never seen in FIFA. When teams are up late in a game in FIFA, they still play like they are tied nil-nil. It just never feels like a real game situation. So for me I am definitely liking PES 2011.

I will get both like I usually do. Each has something the other does not have -- like my LA Galaxy or a working master league mode. But I think PES will get more of my attention. Now just have to decide which version to get -- PC or PS3.

Just tried out the FIFA demo and was really surprised in how good it was.... I'm a PC player and hadn't tried it since 07 or 08.... the game has evolved A LOT.

There really isn't that much difference between the 2 games...

My PS2 controller + USB adapter doesn't work well with FIFA manual settings, so that's a plus for me prefering PES...

Still think PES passing system is better.

pes 2011 offers a greater challenge than fifa, and the passing system really feels 360 in PES 2011, the fifa passing system doesnt
