Yes, but in the game itself they are very difficult to pull off effectively. PES's step-over then 45 push was an instant win. Let's not forget PES's weakness for the cut-back and the amazing PES2009 slow zig-zag dribble that made defenders back off for no apparent reason.

All this is circumstantial. We'll probably never really agree and you've not exactly got a great record when it comes to agreeing to disagree either. I've made my points now and am far too tired to get into a 'great' (and I use the word only in it's volume sense) debate.

You buy PES, I'll probably get FIFA, then at some point down the line, PES. We'll never play against each other and we'll likely never care.

The cut back was a joke. We had a friend who would play 4-3-3 and put his FWs right in the corners and then rape us with Henry, Wiltord and Bergkamp.

It was such a kop out that we ended up banning it.

Cut backs are ridiculously annoying in all football games. I know it is legitimate goal in real world football some times, but its so annoying when someone constantly scores that way, knowing full well that it's predictable and almost unstoppable.

Well we played PES so much that we would end up doing Round Robin tournaments, and it was literally all he had in his locker so once we put a ban on it (or ridiculed/called him a prick for always doing it to the point he would stop just to shut us up) he was found out.

Btw I'm talking PES3/PES4 era. The annoying thing was that I'd have to play my defensive line (and in turn my midfield and attack) about 10 yards deeper than usual AND stick markers on the WFs and STILL 5/10 times a simple through ball to either of them would still put them clear of my FBs.

Still, the older PESs fucking rocked. Problem with playing PES5 (Xbox) on my 360 is the resolution is far from fitting my 42" (or whatever it is) and there isn't any great (if any) upscaling (that I can notice). I would happily pay £20-£25 if they released it for the 360, having given it a good polish. I remember beating hitmanuk (the forum's creator) 7-1 as Milan vs Arsenal. Milan's formation (4-3-1-1-1) was proper boss, and I would often find myself 1 on 1 with Shevchenko and would always perform that shexy chip on the keeper

I find it alarming that japanese developers have a better understanding of football fundamentals than europeans. I'll say one thing though, commentry, sound, graphics and Motion capture are EAs for life.

Played the demo yesterday for the first time.

I find it alarming that japanese developers have a better understanding of football fundamentals than europeans. I'll say one thing though, commentry, sound, graphics and Motion capture are EAs for life.

The full game plays completely different to the demo. I can actually play on world class and keep possesion and score etc but the game is still a challenge! Just started a manager mode with United and won the first game of pre-season 1-0 then went off to Bordeaux who destroyed me 4-1.. Couldn't take my chances (kept hitting the post/Keeper made great saves) and Bordeaux punished me, I think they only had 5 or 6 shots on goal.

Enjoying it so far. The sliders are a god send for offline however some seem a little silly such as shot power which I changed to 55 (50 default) and the ball feels like it will burst the net lol and thats only a change of 5.

Changed fullback position from 50 to 55 and they make forward runs and give support on the wings. 60+ gives beastly support up and down the flanks but means there's more chance of them being caught out of position.

TD feels alot better, it doesn't seem as hard as it was in the demo however the AI will still punish you like they did to me in the 4-1 defeat :/.

That's my first impressions...only been playing for an hour or so.

oh before I forget.. Transfers in Career mode seem alot better. Had 4 or 5 teams like Porto, Everton and Fulham(?) bid for Smalling (from £9-£11.5m) and Chelsea made two bids for Nani (£20m + £25m) both were rejected and they stated they would no longer carry on with bids/interest.

I've also had Giggsy come up to me and tell me he is likely to retire at the end of the season but it's not set in stone . You can flick through each player in the squad and it tells you if they're happy, content or unhappy. Interest from other clubs can affect your players!

right...back to destorying Getafe in my last pre-season game.

Seriously I can't believe that goal you scored with Hernandez, well I can since it's fifa, but man that was just piss easy. He was just free to roam in the box as long as he liked. Yeah he ran in one direction then went to another but the AI was so dumb it never tracked his run in the first place. Nani was just allowed to run and cross while the defender marking him looked as if he was just jogging by side as a token gesture to make it look realistic rather than a genuine attempt to win the ball back where he could have easily made a challenge

You can see from playing on World class how easy it is to just exploit the game and win by large margins every match to make yourself feel good. I don't see the point of playing a game where there is no challenge, do you?

The movement very much reminds me of his first goal against Bolton. Cahill didn't have a clue where he was.

I do see where your coming from though. The one bit that annoys me is the defender is stood still a second before he sees Hernandez run infront of him.

I got the EA Season ticket thing which allows you to d/l the full game before the release date. Its basically a full version demo that expires on release day.

The EA season ticket gives you loads of stuff aswell for FIFA, NHL and Madden. I went for it considering I play all those games.

I asked Appswah a question in which he answered. It must have been a relief to find out that cheap goal conceded by the computer was when it was apparently on amateur instead of world class which he initially claimed.

Because seriously if the AI is allowing me to run down the byline unchallenged and leave my forwards in the box unmarked and free to roam as long as he likes, then I'm putting the game back in it's case and returning back to where it came from.

You might find 4-1,7-5 and 10-0 scorelines realistic and fun, but I don't.

Well the Anderson run into the box was shoulder to shoulder with a defender, how you call it unchallenged I don't know?!

As for Hernandez being 'unmarked and free to roam the box' comment ..

The defender loses his man and the attacker gets in front of the ball, happens all the time in football.

You've been trolling this thread for quite some time, you don't like FIFA, we get it. But don't act as if it's inferior to PES, because it hasn't been for a few years now. I used to be PRO PES/ANTI FIFA, but over the years I've learned to like something without hating on something else.

I don't doubt he wasn't playing on a higher difficulty; I too have saved replays of goals scored > Amateur and the video still tags it as so. I suppose PES 12 doesn't have stupid AI, eh?
