Was really enjoying playing this again after a while off but the fucking servers are pissing me off. Kept getting kicked from clubs and ultimate team. Really fucking annoying!!
That happened to me for about two days, last week. It works fine now, but I was asked to re-enter my online code last time I tried to go on. I didn't and when I tried to sign back into the EA Server, it worked without having to enter the code. I've only ever started encountering issues once I started playing FUT, about a month ago.
Anyone bought the Euro 2012 expansion?
I've read some bad things about it, AI being worse, not fully licensed teams, poor game modes.
I've just bought the game and I have been playing for almost two hours.
As I start the expansion I am met by a mediocre intro which was, I am assuming, thrown together in less than an hour. I get to the menus and I am noticing that it is the exact same soundtrack as in FIFA12. I start going through the diferent modes, it gives me a new, colorfull and fresh feeling in contrast to the original FIFA12 menus, but that is soon diminished due to the fact that there's no option to Edit Teams in the Euro 2012 game. This, ofcourse, is a major flaw in this horrendous DLC, but that is just the begining of what is lurking in the shadows of this 'expansion'.
I enjoy playing matches online with my friend as a Guest on my side. I quickly realized that the onlinetab has no sub-menu(s). Once you click you are taken to, what looks to be the same interface as the H2H Team Select in FIFA12, but with a colorswap. Is the option for adding a Guest something that is difficult to integrate?
I decided to play one match alone though.
As I finally get to take a look at Team Managament and my Squad it feels as if EA recycled the whole interface from an earlier game in the FIFA-Series. Can someone confirm this? The players no longer have their real photos in their biography, instead, it uses the players models from the game. I get the sense that the ratings and the traits on the players in my team are not accurate/out of place. Did they recycle the database for the players as well? I have to point out that the staminabars (R2/RT) almost look like they have the wrong resolution, they appear cramped.
Sweden against my oponent, with Ukraine and since this was my first match I want to watch the whole presentation with the players and line up's. It looks like and feels like FIFA12 with the exception of the stadium, which was the only thing that felt refreshing so far.
As I am watching the Ukrainain line up I am expecting Tymoschuk, Voronin, Milevskiy and perhaps Shevchenko. They are not licenced, how on earth does the Hosting Nation not have their authentic names nor kits when they have marked it as such an experience, instead the names are fake but tries to resemble the real players. I know there are several other Nations with the same issue, which is a real shame as I like to vary alot. Would've been great to play with Iceland or Macedonia.
I have seen people in this forum complaining about the referee and other gameplay mechanics but I didn't notice that much of a difference (keep in mind I've only played one game online so far). Perhaps I'll start noticing things when/if I play a few more games.
A minor thing that I observed during the game was the logo that swings by when a replay is show, it is awful, it doesn't look finished.
The commentators have new Euro 2012 dialogs and they are addressing a few new playernames while in possession, which is a nice feature, but it still doesn't make up for the handfull of dire things that comes with the DLC.
I want to play a match together with my friend and we head straight into the Euro 2012 Cup as Sweden and I am surprised to see that there is no qualifying stage and I feel that this game is only going down-hill from here.
I like the display of the simulated matches of the other groups in the main menu for the tournament and the statistics are fine, I think it is the same as in FIFA12.
The gameplay against the AI is frustrating, even more so than in the original (Setting; Pro). Just as an example, we won against England with 3-2 and with 16 shots on target against 2 shots on target. When the AI wants to score a goal it is going to do it. There's nothing you can do about it, it either ends in conceding or a penalty shot, usually after having blocked 2 or 3 shots and a reaction save from the keeper. The ball is like a magnet, an invisible force that pushes the ball on the AI players. You know what I am talking about, I am sure people have experienced this in either this FIFA or another. It is just more noticeable in Euro 2012.
All in all, after two hours, it looks like a nifty DLC on the outside, with great potential for a good game but this is such a huge step back from the creative and hours-of-fun South Africa 2010. Why is this such a huge letdown? Will there be a patch? I don't know, perhaps EA want to focus on FIFA13? If that is the case then I hope it will deliver in every way.
(I have not played any of the other modes in the game. Are they worth trying or will I recieve the same disappointment as with the rest of the game?)
TL;DR - A weak presentation both in interface/menus and gameplay. DLC is not worth the money.
