Not bashing of any games ... Just a constructive comparison between the both Demo.

as we know the PES 2013 Demo 2 is the same as the final version and fifa demo also the same as the final version ( yah u heard it right , the speed will remain the same ) .. i have not seen any fifa vs pes thread this year ..

make it simple and categorical ...

Pros :

1)FIfa 13

2) PES 2013

Cons:

1) Fifa 13

2) Pes 2013

Overall comments :

Update till now .. :

Neither of them feel significantly different to the past couple of years' attempts. Back to PES 6 it is then...

pes 6 ? oh thats crap ..

:eek:hmy:

I should ban you for such a blasphemous comment!

Anyway, on to your poll question. If I had to choose 1 at the moment, I'd choose Fifa.

Pros:

PES - Attacking can be fun some times
- Passing and shooting feels crisp
- Player individuality

Fifa - I can play as Bolton
- Clubs
- Challenging on higher difficulties (at least for a noob like me) without being frustrating like PE.

Cons:

PES - Loads. Too many to list.

Fifa - Loads. Too many to list, but probably less than PES.

Comments: Though I'd most likely opt for Fifa, I'm still not 100% sure if I will be investing in a football game this season.

Ok to start with....Fifa 13 is the better game IMO.

FIFA PROS

-Attacking A.I
-Collision engine ( Much better now)
-Physical battles
-Revised Skill stats (Not having 20 5 star skillers in every team. Man City has none :shocking: )
- Free Kick Variety
-Skill games ( a small thing but they're just fun IMO)

FIFA CONS

-Game speed ( Just a bit too quick)
-Speed seems to count for nothing.
-Graphics
-No camp Nou :eek:hmy:
-Way too hard to be red carded

PES PROS

-Manual controls ( such a joy to use and better than that found in FIFA)
-Finesse shot (Bout time)
-Game Speed
-Player ID (seems pretty good)
-Graphics( Not a massive upgrade from FIFA but faces are much better)

PES CONS

-Ref is very card happy.
-A.I( Sorry but the A.I sucks)
-Commentary ( LOL so bad)
-Lack of Licences ( I know but it is a con none the less)
-Skills are overly complicated (IMO)

I think both games though have improved substantially over their 12 counterparts.....So great for fans of either or both franchises.

:D

The last few years a poll like this should have been pretty even given that the voters had any clue (for lack of a better word).

This year I have played roughly the same amount of both games, and this one should be easy for everyone. PES2013 is by far the better game in every aspect that involves the actual match, I repeat BY FAR! (Given that you're into pseudo simulation, and not pure action arcade, not implying that one taste is any better)

But as usual, FIFA has a very convenient setup with good game modes and licensed teams all over the place, which PES lack even more than usual in the European section.

My guess is that every FIFA fanboy that have the cojones to try the "rival" will love it, but I doubt there will be a mass immigration anyway. FIFA has a large crowd and does not disappoint any more than usual this year, and FIFA2013 is a solid release by FIFA standards which is nothing special in other words, pure action and an armada of licensed teams. If PES had stayed on the same level as 2012 this year it would definitely been an option, though.

Previous and current PES players will LOVE this years release, and nobody will have to look for Yair and Jenkey to fix the game, finally!

Bugs I've noticed in PES2013 so far;
- Keeper switches place with a defender for a very long time after rushing outside the area.

- Stamina, or more correctly match fatigue, is still an issue even if you don't "stress" the whole game. Messi is knackered at 66-70 minutes even if he's been relatively inactive, for example.

I am sure there are more, but I was just too busy enjoying all the positives at first 15 glances :)

PES CONS

-Ref is very card happy.

Could say the same for the Fifa demo actually. Quite a few of the soft fouls I conceded resulted in a yellow card. Even had my goalkeeper sent off for fair challenge (an obvious fair challenge).

you know guys the thing about pes 6 ? its just a nostalgia and nothing else. pes 6 players feels so heavy to move and lack of 360 movement just too much to miss . so many bad htings about pes 6 compared to today's game. but some people stick to it just because of nostalgia. Just because there were no game of that standard on that particular time. so those people get biased towards pes 6. just put off the colored glass and then compare.

I actually haven't had many in the Fifa demo..........but then I didn't get many in the PES DEMOS either :)

I've gotten more red cards in PES2013 than I did in PES2011 and 2012 combined... two! :)

Both of them are the result of two yellows after badly miss-timed "double click" challenges.

Pretty much agree totally with this.

Pros :

1)FIfa 13
- Collision system and jostling for the ball.
- Keepers (in certain situations may I add). Whilst everyone goes on about the keepers, their animations and generally their saves are very good. BUT - there is the odd goal that I think fk me, even the PES goalies would have saved that.
- Pronounced first touch, excellent. You could argue that PES has this in all touches, but PES still needs to have the feeling that the ball is independent of the player, still needs to be looser. Only with Messi and Ronaldo etc should the ball feel glued to their feet.
- A better sense of the ball bouncing randomly.

2) PES 2013
- Player individuality.
- Team individuality.
- Tactics
- Player positioning, with with regards to their cards and skills and formations and defensive units. Simply unrivalled. This is the major difference between PES and FIFA for my money and where PES is the simulation of real football.
- General AI
- Cards, fouls, randomness. Ball physics and passing.
- Game pace (even on default game speed)

Cons:

1) Fifa 13
- Graphics. I don't know, bit too cartoony aren't they?
- Most games play the same
- Same CPU patterns of attack over and over again.
- No inertia/momentum (BIG ISSUE)
- Players skating
- Defensive AI
- Game pace. Like gummy bears on gummy juice.

2) Pes 2013
- Lack of modes, lack of licences.
- Keepers. I still shit myself with every shot the CPU hits. I just never feel confident in them. BUT - in saying that, real life keepers are prone to error, save some wonder shots, but seem to let in soft goals. I actually think the keepers reflect real life keepers more these days, but for a footy game they could be improved so as to not appear so error prone if you get what I mean. Some of the saves in FIFA whilst they look good, are totally outrageous in terms of goaly reaction time.
- Impact engine and animations are the biggy that needs attention for the future.
- The odd time you get the feeling of scripting, but it is very occasional.
- CPU build up play could be much slower and more pronounced. It still feels on occasion like the human and the CPU have different rules governing how they attack.
- Bootgate - Jesus, what the fk were KONAMI thinking ($ maybe). Childish and stupid and may threaten to ruin ML.
- Removal of League Mode. What the fk were KONAMI thinking Part II - are they trying to piss off as many people as possible or what on purpose?!?

Overall comments :
From the demos, and I stress this is from the demos, I would give FIFA an 8 and PES a 9. The more 'fun' game is FIFA. I can pick that up and get straight into a game and use tried and tested patterns of play and defensive tactics each and every game for a very solid experience. It doesn't tax me. For a football simulation, both more rewarding and more frustrating and requires my 100% focus, then it's PES all the way.

The player individuality in PES is just stunning this year.

However - I am concerned about KONAMI's recent history in fking up the retail game and have heard rumours that it is based more on 2012 than any of the demos. IF this is the case, then I'll be playing FIFA. If it's not and as others have said it feels like a cross between demo 1 and 2, then I'll be getting PES and PES only.

I based my post on the actual game, not the demo. They haven't fucked up, on the contrary, they've improved on the demo in regards to "looser ball" and more "freedom" while passing. You feel less restricted than in the demo, which wasn't really bad compared to the past to begin with.

I never thought I'd see the day when such a beautiful game was released by Konami again, they're back on the throne way ahead of FIFA unless EA Sports make some DRASTIC retail improvements.

EDIT; Yes, I know I'm excited and I know that PES usually materializes ugliness deep into competition modes but I can't see it yet. 8 matches into ML at the moment and 11 matches into BAL and roughly 15 exhibition matches. Normally the ML ugliness materializes in the third or fourth match or at the very least in the first CL match, this year I've see NOTHING ugly so far.

FIFA 13 by a mile for me.

Gameplay is extremely fun and since Konami went and fucked up ML there is no reason to get PES for me. Not only that, career mode in FIFA 13 sounds mint this year.

This is what I posted on the Operation Sports forum:

Games change, innovations are implemented, improvements take place, but every year there is one constant - the good old PES-FIFA debate flares up in all its glory. Love it.

And it's funny how different people find the same exact feature to be "great" or "game breaking" depending on who it is that plays the games.

A particular game will never be perfect for everyone. Everyone will find something that appeals or irritates. In some cases it is the very same feature that causes contention.

In my opinion both games have improved this year, but PES has improved more than FIFA has. It's difficult to make a parallel comparison, because I find each game to have strengths and weaknesses in different areas and again, that is just a personal opinion.

Disclaimer: my observations are purely based on the demos.

For example, some people have said that FIFA looks amazing visually. Whilst this may be true compared to FIFA 12, I still believe PES looks much better, in terms of colour representation, shadows and overall crispness. The screenshot which precedes a kick off in PES is absolutely stunning and if you were to see this from a distance, you could easily mistake it for a shot from a real life game. FIFA looks kind of blurry and the colours are well over saturated (hence the arcade feel that some have commented on). For example the grass looks unrelaistic in FIFA compared to PES and this contributes to the opinion of those people who say that "players float" in FIFA. This is especially evident during penalty shootouts. The players are also smaller somehow... It's hard to explain - they just look cartoonish.

However, my opinion is based on a snapshot of the field, not so much on the animation, where I think FIFA has the upper hand in terms of fluidity.

Controls.
FIFA feels more responsive but this level of responsiveness is at the expense of a realistic feel. Granted that it's played with default sliders, it feels almost too easy to zip a pass across the pitch. PES Is more of a struggle, but somehow there is a weight to actions and movement. It may feel a bit cumbersome, but for me personally it feels closer to reality and most importantly it has momentum and physics.

The reason PES is more of a struggle is because it is more accurate in the way the physics interact. Example: You cannot expect a player to hit the ball if the ball is not actually there to be hit. WIth PES there is a delay between the push of the pass button and the execution of the pass. That is because the AI awaits the foot of the player to make contact with the ball. It can be frustrating but it's simple physics. WIth FIFA this is somehow made easier, but it is at the expense of realism.

The one gripe I have with PES is the pass logic. The same amount of pressure on the button will result in totally (and I mean totally) different trajectories. Some time the ball will go to the further of two players positioned linearly and sometimes to the closer. This is even more of a mystery whee it comes to long (lofted) balls, where teh same amount of pressure will result in either an underhit pass or a wild "'ave it" type shot in the stands.

Gameplay wise, it's more difficult to draw a parallel. I find that both games have their faults and strengths. FIFA has a tendency to stretch the mifield and cluster the action just outside the penalty area. PES has a more organic / balanced feel, but then again it feels a bit weird changing teh action from wing to wing, something FIFA does better and more realistically IMO. Generally AI runs feel more logical in FIFA whereas in PES you have to rely far too frequently on triggering a teammate's run manually.

The one aspect where I feel very strongly though is the sense of achievement, the sense of WOW, the sense of unpredictability and excitement. This is where PES has teh upper hand IMO. I'm not saying that FIFA is weak, but even great chances feel a bit... lukewarm - both to the eye and in terms of control. With PES, I absolutely love the sense of scoring a goal. It's the same sensation I get when I score in real life (a goal that is - no sexual reference here... :)
Scoring a goal in FIFA is cool, but I don't get any urge to watch the replay.

And I think I have localised part of the reason for this. And it's a very stupid / simple thing, but personally I find it adds a lot to the atmosphere. The goals in FIFA are messed up. They are too small in relation to both stadium and players. They lack any definition in terms of net and post/bar shadows and they just look plain odd. Putting the "cat in the sack" does not feel rewarding somehow and I think some of this is a direct result of what I just described.

Scoring a goal in PES is a visual feast. It just looks and feels beautiful to let rip and see the net bulge. The attention to detail is fantastic.

There are so many aspects of the game to discuss, but for me the above are the most important - what make me come back to a particular game more than another.

If I could design my perfect game it would be a mish mash of features combined from two games, based on:

FIFA - passing, fluidity of movement, player runs, first touch control, tackles
PES - graphics / colours / shadows, sense of weight, excitement of scoring

Pes 2013
Pros

- More Realistic
- Graphics
- Bigger pitch
- Lack of Licences (Champions League, Copa Liberos)

I was just surprised to learn that PES and FIFA will cost the same amount in the U.S. PES has been $10 cheaper in the two previous years.
