I thought the World Cup demo felt a little more arcadey. Although I wonder if playing with a more zoomed in camera than I usually do added to that.
If ever the phrase "EA football has no soul" can be used, it might be for this. Gameplay felt sterile.
They toned down the first touch control a lot. Perhaps too much. Other than when playing Clubs, I like the first touch errors in FIFA14. Very realistic as long as a player like David Silva isn't forced to be sloppy everytime he receives it.
I noticed the ball sticks to your feet when tackling away from an opponent. Maybe a little too sticky but a relief from FIFA14 where the ball flies as far as it needs to travel to find another CPU attacker. But every tackle resulted in a steal and auto counter by me. didn't like.
Your players will come to the ball more after a pass than in FIFA14. I would just tap an easy pass on Manual Passing setting and that player would come running back to the ball to receive it because I did not have enough weight to get it to him. But damn it, the slightest tap of the pass button on manual setting should not result in the ball travelling 20 yards. I want more ball freedom.
They still cannot get player switching correct. Try kicking the ball directly to a CPU defender in front of you.... you are instantly switched away from the ball. I should be maintained with the same player because he is still the closest to that ball. Eliminates the opportunity to fight for the ball back immediately. This has been a complaint of mine since FIFA12.
Player momentum has basically vanished. They made a big deal about this new physics engine for FIFA14. But now you can stop on a blade of grass and switching directions has no physical limitations. Don't like it. Actually, EA cut this back in FIFA14 in the first update after release because arcadey football video game fans complained too much.
