I was thinking the other day, is there any other genre of video game that fucks you over so much? Football (and perhaps other team sport) games are the only games where the action doesn't always match the imput. Eg you tap the pass button... the player whollops it, you aim left... he shoots right, you try to power the shot... he places it. I made the comparison a looooooooong time ago (probably one of my first posts) - it's like playing an FPS, pressing the button to fire, but your guy decides to throw a grenade instead.

Just last night, I tapped pass for a ground pass from my LM to CB, but he smashed it past the CB and the GK had to chest it. The power bar was barely registering anything, so I don't know why the games thought I was trying to pass it so hard and high.

A few days ago, EA were giving out gift packs via the web app, but one of the packs I got got deleted as it was opening.

I don't think there is. Madden was notorious for letting the CPU ball carrier break every tackle in the house right before halftime and right before the end of the game if they needed a td to go ahead. But other than that, there was no "sabotage" (as jonno deftly coined it) of the human AI or physical abilities. NHL always played fair in my opinion.

I was complaining last night at how bad our AI controlled players are in making runs. Repeated situation where a winger or forward would be cutting inside of the defender for a perfect line on goal, then suddenly they would divert this route to move outside the defender so they were no longer open for the through pass. This happens on almost every attack. This game is really bad.

why are you still playing this Ali? Just sell it and get PES.

I will when Konami stops cocking up my team like this :folarm: :

(FYI he's a winger not a CB)

On ps3

Goodbye EA with

1) players that don't make runs
2) defenders that don't get into position or purposely seem to be out to surrender goals
3) balls that magically float back to the cpu after i tackle or their headers/keeper clears
4) passes that slow down appropriately, but then speed up to be sure it goes to the cpu keeper when I enter the box
5) my players running away from air balls even if they are about to fall directly to them
and can't exclude
6) PLAYERS WITHOUT HEADS

I just bough PES. What a balanced game. Realistic midfield, no ridiculous EA pressing. I do miss the EA presentation, really do, but after 3 games of getting the feel of PES, my last match was a beauty.

I visit the EA FIFA discussion board regularly, mostly to complain. You can see a huge difference in the number of posts there since people have caught on the PES is a good game. Just a few complaints trickle in every day. FIFA fans have given up.

I think I've been lucky not to have too much to complain about. It's the standard scripting in football games - which I can't see every going away - and the GK glitches that bug me. But the thing that annoys me most is the way people play online, trying to beat their opponents by using as many exploits as possible, rather than trying to play something that simulates a real football match. Yes, it's a video game, not real life, and "the aim" is to win, but I can't see how trying to run with player over and over again can be enjoyable to some people. I watch FIFA YouTubers' videos and some of them get excited when they see a 40+ yard shot float in, while the GK just stands still, as he does, and then they'll claim it's an amazing goal. If something goes my way because the game is programmed poorly, I sigh.

I'm sticking to offline for now. I'll finish my Ultimate Team seasons and will then move to Career Mode. Offline is much more enjoyable than online.

Have you got the same game as me? From my experience of this game and the previous instalments, offline is horrible. At least with online you don't get League 2 defenders dribbling forever, twisting and turning so you have no chance of getting the ball without 'fouling' them. By 'fouling' I mean winning the ball fairly. It gets worse as you move up the difficulty levels.

CPU players playing beyond their stats is annoying, no doubt about it. I've found a way to win the ball off the CPU quicker than usual, so I don't really see Irish League defenders playing like Messi, anymore. Despite that, it's the way people play online that makes offline more enjoyable. It doesn't mean offline game play is perfect. Far from it. I just see it as the lesser of two evils.

Although Phats hit it on the head, my other monster issues with offline are the ball magically travelling to the CPU if I tackle it away from them (thought they fixed this), magical clears (a keeper or defender clear out of the box looks exactly the same every time), and how my ability to pass changes depending on how close to goal I am.

A CPU defender tackles the ball away from me by barely sticking a leg in and the ball then travels 30yds like a rocket for a perfect pass up the pitch.

I would spend an entire FIFA offline match shaking my head over and over with frustration and disgust. But I am now free.

Or simply touching the opposition player.

The other day I was beaten 4-1 by Citeh. At 3-1 I was in their box and was tripped.... it was a definite pen any day of the week. But of course, the ref didn't give it. Needless to say, they went up the other end, I did the exact same thing to them, and lo and fucking behold the ref gave a pen.

I agree with this. It feels more like a real game offline, whereas online is just about using pace and exploiting parts of the game that give you the best chance to score. Much prefer playing on a slow game speed in career than playing some random online.

Is there a slider to reduce the amount of slide tackles the CPU team does? Just played a match, and no joke there was about 30! And my players keep hurdling them, which means the ref doesn't give a foul, but it still fucks up my move!

player vs player mode

Any idea how to play against each other as I can only see a co-op in cup mode. Cant seem to be able to take control of the other team.

Thanks Ciaran.

I started Seasons yesterday. The game feels a little slower, which I like. There seems to be less people trying to use exploits, although that might just be the case for lower divisions. I'm in D7 now, winning all my games along the way, with about a third being rage quits. I'm expecting the standard of opposition to be decent from D5 upwards. I'm doing a PL "one club, one season" tour, starting with Arsenal in D10, Aston Villa in D9 and so forth. Next up is Chelsea in D7.

So far, this is much more enjoyable than Ultimate Team, at the same stage. However, I've yet to come against Cagliari and Ibarbo & Sau (and other teams with pace whore strikers).
