Sure it wasn't just the North American date you were looking at previously?

Didn't think so, as was down for a Tuesday release (usual with big game releases in the UK) and when I was looking to pre-order, saw that date? :hmm:

Fridays are game release dates here. Just sometimes (getting more and more common now)a publisher goes with Tuesday worldwide release dates. Although strangely Black Ops 3 went with a Friday worldwide release last year

I played the demo. It was alright, but passing and shooting feels pretty much identical to previous games, and the players are all too thin.

Isn't Tuesday 20th the early access release date for Xbox? Maybe that's what Ziss saw.

It was on Amazon's/Tesco's website when I pre-ordered. Only recently signed up to Early Access for a month and haven't seen any dates for that yet.

Very disappointing, seems the only change the Frostbite engine has brought is the graphics. Physics, character models etc all look and act the same as the previous 2 or 3 games!

I played the 'The Journey' mode in the demo last night. Seemed ok, but I would've preffered it if you could chose a team to start with, or if it was more of a rags to riches type tale, a la Jamie Vardy.

Yeah, it seems alright but being forced to play for Utd is gonna put a lot of people off. Should be like NBA 2k My Player mode, where you can choose where you play. Though I doubt EA have put as much effort into there's.

Quite enjoying the new set piece system in this.

Yeah, they've pretty much alienated all City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale..etc...etc.... fans.

I've played less than 10 games, but I can already feel the gameplay is smoother and (only) a little more responsive. However, I hope this isn't just because of the size of the demo and the final game will be worse because there's more date (I'm not sure if that's how it works). It also feels a little faster than FIFA 16.

I haven't felt the CPU moving the player that I'm controlling, which is a huge relief. Player switching is a little better, but not perfect. Manual switching seems to be manual, but trying to switch to the nearest player is still problematic.

Passing is better, too, although I can see people abusing the new threaded through passes. I do like the improvement of the low lobbed passes: much faster and less floaty than previous FIFAs; although, maybe too low to be distinguished from drilled ground passes. I still cannot cross to save my life.

Shielding is way too overpowered, though. It was annoying in FIFA 16 online, but now even the CPU abuses it.

I didn't think set-pieces needed to be overhauled, but they're fine. They seem pretty straightforward. I've only had one FK, which I narrowly missed with Rooney. I was expecting it to go horridly high and wide, based on what I've read from people's early experiences. And I've never understood people's problems with throw-ins in past FIFAs - just move the player you want to receive the ball!

Overall, it doesn't seem like a massive step up. Visually, it looks better (as it should do) - I like that players get sweaty and their faces seem to get redder. Gameplay wise, besides set-pieces, it's a slight tweak.

You can chose a team in the final version, but only a PL team. I'm not going to touch The Journey until the full game is released.

Well we all know that Mourinho doesn't like giving young players a chance, so it's unrealistic to pick Utd. Spurs seem like the best option. :point:

I wonder, if you choose Southampton, would you end up at Liverpool?

New to FIFA but have custom tactics question

Hi guys

One criticism I hear levelled at FIFA all the time is that the computer AI teams all behave in the same way tactically ie. like Barcelona!

I notice you can change tactics before a game, including making your own 'custom tactics'. Does anyone know if that can be done in edit mode for each team in the game, so when you play them offline they all play in a different way (ie - long ball, counter attack, pressing etc)??

That would make the game so much better and more varied.

I don't think manually changing their tactics will make a difference. They all have different default tactics in the first place. I think the CPU teams are programmed to play a certain way, despite what the tactics suggest. Custom tactics only affect human players, from what I can tell.
