Just got the game a couple of hours ago and I must say, its is highly addictive. I suck very much right now as I am still getting the controls and all. Also is there rainy night or rainy day in this game. Thats one thing Fifa could've improved on along with more accurate through passes. Overall a tremendous game.

I'm gonna buy FIFA for the ps2 tommorow. I kind of have mixed feelings though, as I don't know what to do because I've seen trailers where the graphics and ball physics are really good and some which are extremely bad (for the next gen consoles as well, worse than '06). I hear some people say it's good and very much improved while some say in terms of graphics, physics etc. it's gone down from previous versions. Can someone who's played and/or owned FIFA tell me the truth because it's tommorow when I'm going there to buy it.

ive played my mates version on the PS3 and Imust say I was quite surprised when playing it, the gameplay has improved and little things like the commentary and the licensing makes it even better. Obviously nobody knows how its gonna compare to Pro yet because Pro hasnt been relesed yet, but ive already made my mind up that im not gonna buy it until ive played pro.

Btw - The 'Play As A Pro Mode' can you do that as a carrer or is it just indiviual matches?

For the ps2, there are some ups and downs. There is not a new game engine for ps2 so you can still make those trademark Fifa runs past everyone. This year for ps2, they did include refs and there are rainy weather options which are not in 360. For the next gen consoles, there is a whole new game engine which is slower and is even harder than PES but they dont have many weather options and there are fewer stadiums. For ps2, I would prefer thatr you just wait for PES. If you might be getting a next gen console then definetely get Fifa.

Only single matches. Their bringing out a 5v5 patch though so you can have 10 people controlling 10 players in one game.

I have it on PS2 it and seems great compared to '07. I know ive heard great things about the next gen console version 'but if what I have is the PS2 version' than on 360 or PS3 it must be amazing. Every pass or shot is based on the direction of the left analog control and through pass are alot more realistic and difficult (as they should be) depending on the direction of the left analog stick and the length the triangle button is held (weight of the pass). Envioromental graphics are way better than people graphics (at least on the ps2). Licensed teams and many leagues make the whole things a bonus, instead of names like north-east london and Izar. I didn't mind it at first but it's really getting old. I think Konami are truly challenged this time around, but that's just my opinion. Oh ya, and might I mention that the last 2 matches I played Ended with me getting only 15-30% of my shots on target, while on '07 or '06 I would've gotten at least 50% first time playing and 80-95% when you get used to it.

Sad to say....PES 2008 is not much better than FIFA 08

Just got the game a couple of hours ago and I must say, its is highly addictive. I suck very much right now as I am still getting the controls and all. Also is there rainy night or rainy day in this game. Thats one thing Fifa could've improved on along with more accurate through passes. Overall a tremendous game.

Totally agree and I am a Hard Core Pro Evo Fan. The demo has been finally released in North America, PES 2008 and after playing FIFA 08 for two weeks, I have to admit that FIFA 08 looks very good and it is really addictive. Hey, I also suck at the controls because I am used to play PES but it is a shame....

Never thought Konami would let this happen, letting EA get a Football game in certain parts (a lot I have to say) better than PES.

I have played only the demo, that is the comparison I have so far, I will have to wait till 2008 when Konami releases the game over here (It really hurts that Konami thinks the hole American continent from Alaska to Argentina does not count) the game will be out early 2008.

This is my humble opinion I understand that not everyone will agree.

Again, it is a shame......

The World Is Yours
My cousin brought this round yesterday and we had a few games. It's pretty good, much improved since I last played Fifa (which I think was the 05 version). Now that it's not so easy to score, it's more enjoyable, although it surprised me that Paul Robinson was capable of pulling off 3 or 4 near miraculous top-corner saves in our co-op game against the computer. Hopefully they haven't gone too over the top with the goalkeepers abilities, but I haven't played it enough yet to have a good idea of whether that is the case. At least it's better than curling into the top corner from 30 yards almost every time as in older versions.

Jermaine Jenas managed to curl in a 35 yard free kick past Jens and hit the crossbar with his next effort from around 30 yards, so I hope free kicks haven't become a cheap way for the computer to score now.

Overall, though, it was good fun, the graphics were very good, and I thought the commentary was great. I'll get it for the 360 in the next couple of weeks.

i agree with you, we are just as addictive to pes here in this side of the world, but maybe this time i wont feel the anxiety that much since fifa is goood.

Konami forgets about the American Continent

Yes, you just said it, in this side of the world -America- there are million Football followers, and Konami just ignores part of the world and with no reason -at least I do not know of one- simply decides to postpone the release of the game at least 3 months.

It is so stupid. Most of sports games, are released around the beginning of the corresponding sport season. It is like releasing an NHL Hockey Game in the summer.

Anyway the demo of PES 2008 looks like PES 2007, the Japanese company made just NO effort to improve the game.

I am pissed and so disappointed.......but getting better at the FIFA 08 controls!

I said this in the other Fifa thread but i really have to re-iterate a point here,

Fifa is a decent game-if you play one game it seems pretty much the same but if you give it a geniune chance its a pretty decent game, BUT KRIS BOYD £11million, ABSOLUTE NONSENSE

I have to say that Fifa has delivered this year, it really has. I rate it higher than Pro Evolution Soccer. The gameplay is much more realistic, in fact, everything is more realistic. It really focuses on build-up play, which is great whilst playing as Arsenal. I play it on the Xbox 360, I will post my updated squad on Manager Mode here maybe tomorrow after I have played football myself. It has real money in as well, just overall much more realistic.

Of course, their licenses is obviously a boost. Every single team with perfect kits, names, great. I would recommend the next-generation version to anyone wanting to buy a football game. Come on the Arsenal.

My wee bro got a PS3 from santa this year. He got smackdown vs raw (decent) but most importantly he got Fifa08 and PES2008. I've got both for PS2 and PES2008 wins by a mile. But on PS3 Fifa08 is a totally different experience. It feels at home on PS3, it is phenominal

Fifa 08 is pretty good.
It certainly pisses all over PES in the aesthetics of the game and game modes. Except for the closeups on the faces.

The passing is great on long and short passes and you can string together a few good passes to open a defence.

My gripes however are:

- Ball dynamics, it's too beach ballish, seems to bounce in slowmotion.

- Response, players dont slide tackle quick enough

- I didn't like the
size of the pitch either.
