I dont beleive theres a thread on this game so, i thought I'd make one :D

I am so hyped up for this game man, I've played every single final fantasy game, so it goes without saying that i'm a huge fan, and that i'm really looking forward to this game.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZEW5U2VtL6M&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZEW5U2VtL6M&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I beleive this is the trailer that was show at the E3 show, 2008

Who else is looking forward to this game?

Yay!

I was going to make a thread on this but there was way too much information I wanted to post and I didn't think it would get much responses. I'm a bit of a Final Fantasy geek so I'm uber hyped for this game but I also had my doubts since Final Fantasy XII got amazing reviews which I thought it was... meh.

Here's hoping it will be awesome.

The bad thing is that although this game will be released in Japan in 2009. It has been confirmed by Square Enix that North America and Europe (and presumably Australia) won't receive the game until at least April 2010. It did seem doubtful that we would see this game in 2009 and I did kind of expect it but it still is a kick in the gonads. At least it is now confirmed and we know longer have to speculate, well before April 2010 anyway.

So far they have announced 4 playable characters

Lightning (main protagonist)

Snow Villiers:

Oerba Dia Vanille (she will be known as 'Vanille' in the game):

Sazh Katzroy:

Sorry for the inconsistent pictures but they are very scarce. I think Sazh is the first character to be announced in the new trailer as well as his name confirmed. The other three, particularly Snow and Vanille had been in trailers almost a year before the public with no name until recently whereas Sazh has only recently been announced as a character.

Also, here is the latest Final Fantasy XIII trailer. This one shows you CGI scenes, in game cutscenes, voice acting (Japanese) and most of all - gameplay.

This trailer probably shows you a lot compared to what we have seen prior.

Thats the first i've seen on that Sazh dude....

Lightning looks awesome for a main character, although If i'm honest, i'm discouraged by the lack of amazingly huge swords! :D

But the places that have been confirmed look great, Pulse, and obviously Cocoon...

Wait...
Looks great. A pity we don't get it till a year after Japan, but I suppose I should be grateful it's coming to the 360 in the first place.

Well Lightning does use a Gun Sword similar to that of Squall if you like. :D But you need to remember that this game is set in the future.

EDIT: I noticed that first picture screwed up so I'll find another one.

Final Fantasy IX was awesome - my favourite. I thought Final Fantasy X was good but no ATB and the voice acting really annoyed me. Although I thought the game had a great ending only to be ruined by a sequel. Final Fantasy XII was mediocre. I was an okay name but I would have appreciated it wasn't a numerical game. The game is more suited to the Final Fantasy Tactics (albeit not very tactical) since that spin-off is set in the world of Ivalice.

I have my hopes up for this game and a Final Fantasy VII remake. It has never been denied that they are going to do a remake, just that the Square Enix development teams have got their hands full at the moment which indicates we could see a Final Fantasy VII remake but I wouldn't expect to see one for a few years at least.

Yeah good points Clyde... An FF7 remake would be the dogs bollocks, but I cant see them making one any time soon

Yeah XII was pretty average, but I loved X, I thought it was definately one of the better games in the franchise, especially with the introduction of Blitzball :D

Any news on the battle system this game's gunna use? I know they like to switch it up every game :D

Everyone who bought the original VII would buy the remake. Hell people would buy a new console for it.

S-E would make a shed load if they do the remake.

VII and IX are two of my favourite games. I'm hoping this doesn't let me down like the ones on the PS2 did.

In the trailer I posted in the second posts, there is a much clearer view of what the battle system will be like and it seems like it will be based on turn-based but it also seems there is more to it (Watch the trailer and you'll see what I'm on about). Like Final Fantasy XII, you will see the enemies outside of the battle.

Exactly. Square Enix are known for being money grabbing bastards and nothing will shoot their finances through the roof like a Final Fantasy VII remake. It makes sense, they know themselves that most Final Fantasy fans want it as well as newer folks that may be all about the graphics might play it over the original with outdated graphics.

I was reading this argument on another forum about FF13 crossing over to the xbox360, and lo and behold this argument was between an microsoft fanboy and a sony fanboy right,

So they're going at it, the 360 guy is saying stuff like "ahh sony has lost a big exclusive, its so funny reh reh reh"

Then the sony dude came out with "Well do you know what happens when massive games cross over to the 360? The machine can't handle it...This is primarily the reason why the 360 couldn't handle MGS4, so they're definately going to have to 'dumb' it down for the 360, because the disks are no where near as big as blu ray"

So then the microsoft dude said this " Yeah well, they won't dumb it down for us, they'll just put it onto more than one disk" :faceplm:

Its funny and all, but they if they did actually put it on more than one disk for the 360, I would seriously doubt the credibility of microsoft. After all, whats next gen about a bunch of disks???

So I was thinking, as Blu ray disks are far superior to whatever the xbox uses (is it HD? or just regular DVD? i dno), Do you reckon they'll have to cut a lot out? whether it be in the graphics department, or like, the extras department?

Xbox uses DVD-9 which can store over around 8gbs on a disk.
I don't think owners would be that bothered to swap disks, they were doing it for all the Final Fantasys on the PS1. Hell, it may even be nostalgic.

Obviously there was more money to be had by going multi platform. Sony should have done more because this is one of those few games that would make people buy a console for it.

Yeah it just shows that sony are all about the profit nowadays,

But even though it might be nostalgic for some people, I think the idea of having more than one disk for games is disgusting, and it could even put me off buying this game (if I had a 360 that is)

Sony should've forked out a lot more to keep it exclusive, but I suppose the real decision is down the Square-Enix

I was thinking the exact same thing. I kind of want it to be on more than one disc now.
Tbh who cares if it's on more than one disk. I'd rather have more content on multiple discs than have a slimmed down version on a single disc. On VII the only time you had to change the disc was when you reached a certain point in the story, so it's not like you'll be changing the discs often.

The only game that would make me buy a console would more than likely be a remake of FFVII.

I twice sat down, started playing FF7 and then got sidetracked yet have finished FF8 twice and loved it. I'll probably start again this weekend, especially as all my games have been lost along with all my saves since my last backup which I don't even know the date of :faceplm:
