Man City have pretty low expectations although I would say they have too much money.

I very briefly attempted to manage Man City on one of the previous versions. I got slightly disconcerted when my only two signings were Michael Ball (weeks later he actually moved there) and Craig Gardner, and I was out of money.
I'm currently managing FC Emmen in the Dutch First Division. I have taken them from 19th to 18th in my first four games in charge, with only one defeat.

Is Evander Sno of Celtic a good buy?? I put in a bid of 3.5mil for him and Celtic keep declining. He looks like a quality buy.

I'm fucking loving my Alfreton game, promoted from Blue Square North in my first season (Tipped to finish 21st)
Signed players like Nathan D'Laryea, Tomi Ameobi, Owain fon Willams, Mike Pearson and more.
2nd in Blue Sqaure Prem, by like 4 points (Tipped to finish 23rd), Amoebi has scored 40 goals in this league this season in 35 games or something like that, and Jarman has 27 goals and 15 assists, fucking laughing, bought in someone called Anthony Mason from Plymouth, who released him, has good stats, hasn't settled as of yet, but 2 goals in his last 2 games.
Mike Pearson broke into the Wales Under 21 team and Mason the same with the Irish Under 21 team, happy days at Alfreton

I didn't play much of FM 2007. Didn't find it that interesting but now I can't get enough of FM2008. Back to the point.
There are some features that really bug me... infact a lot of things
1.For instance the number of offside and controversial goals scored every single game is only irritating.
2.My team's (Arsenal) inability to hold a lead even against inferior opposition. Immediately after I score a goal, the opposition replies almost instantly.
3.Why is it that Van Persie, Van Der Vaart or Adebayor will keep missing over and over again and yet a mediocre like Leroy Lita scores at one attempt
4.All my goals scored from corner are disallowed. Is it my tactics or what
5.Every time the scout says a certain opposition player will be a threat, he always is. That player almost always scores me.
Either I just suck at the game or there are more bugs than are supposed to be
I also wanted to ask, Van Persie put in a transfer request which I obviously rejected but now his status is Unhappy/Considering his options/Looking to change teams....
He has been unhappy since half way my first season until now (Am in the second season). And even Hleb announced that he might leave on a bosman transfer when his contract ends.. I should also add that I play Van Persie in every game and he is even my top scorer. What more does he want ?
Is there a way I can make my players happy and willing to remain at the club.
Another thing is, why is it that only the same clubs keep harassing me and unsettling my players. For instance Inter and Ac Milan are always bugging me for players and I always reject but they keep coming back. I even went as far as making negative comment towards the AC Milan manager so that he can F**k off...
Is there a way to get them to back off. If other clubs were asking then I'd be fine but the same clubs over and over.

I'm no FM expert, but I highly doubt that your inability to retain leads is a game fault, rather a tactical error. I have to say that I don't personally notice that problem or the issue of many off-sides/disallowed goals in my Villarreal game.
With regard to van Persie's unhappiness, I can only speculate really. If your results are consistently poor, he may well be disappointed, particularly if you are a new manager, in which case he may not have faith in your ability. If you make frequent comments in the press about this that and the other, he may not like your style. If you don't handle him properly after good and bad performances then maybe he's feeling under-appreciated/unjustly treated.
I also have a similar problem with Inter Milan who won't stop bugging me about Matias Fernandez. I just refuse any enquiries they make and carry on regardless. Fernandez is tied down for the next 4 and a half seasons and is a professional character, so I'm not too bothered.

The disallowed goals issue was fixed on the 8.0.1 patch.

No it wasn't. It continued for me after the patch until I made tactical adjustments.
But what person in their right mind is going to wait four months for a patch from sub-standard SI and then delete the game they've spent a valuable amount of time playing in order to get fixes that should've been resolved prior to the initial release? I wish Championship Manager were better as it would force SI to do a half decent job again.

Well, in about March I look at the players who's contracts are expiring and just make a note of it.
Then when 30th June hits or maybe early July (when contracts run out) I look at the players who higher clubs have released and scout them to see if it's worth buying them.
Takes a while, but you reap the rewards later on in the season.
