Okay, played three pre-season games with Liverpool.

Surprised the budget was only £3M, but I have a decent enough squad. Just spent £2.8M on Ivica Olic, as I want another pacy striker in my ranks. Nearly signed Heskey but went for Olic instead, as I don't think Heskey would get enough first team chances.

Had Edgar Davids on trial for a couple of games, he performed well but signed for someone else during my trial.

I am impressed with the 3D match engine... still prefer the 2D one for normal play though.

I am sure a few times the game has chosen a different choice to what I clicked, as I accidentally said I was interested in offers for Gerrard, when I am certain I gave a hands-off warning. Also, whenever I type, the letter comes up twice... so when searching for England, I got "EEnnggllaanndd" which is a bit silly.

Anyway, I have two questions about FM09, about things from the guide:

Tutoring - it says you can get one player to tutor another player, how do you set this, and what benefits does it give?
Trial matches - apparently out of contract players will play in special games organised by the player's union to get managers to buy them. Might be useful if I could have any idea how to view them?

Who thinks this is the shittest fucking installation to go through. What was wrong with the simple stick in the disc and install instead of using a steamy shit and downloading it :faceplm:

You don't have to use steam, at least, that's what I did.

Yeah, It tried making me install it through Steam, but, I used the normal installation after that, but, now I uninstalled it, because Steam had released the new patch for it already, and then tried to install it again, and it wouldn't let me because SIGames are down and steam doesn't recognize the code.

It's one of the most stupidest games to install...EVER.

I fully agree. My Uni internet blocks all gaming access, so I had to do it the long way, with the gaming code... which is printed very badly... I failed the first two times because the T looked like a 7 and the O was an 0 (silly me).

SEGA are aware that there have been some problems with the activation of Football Manager 2009 today. This has been due to a combination of issues relating to the printing of keycodes and the huge demand for the game

A solution is in place and is starting to clear the problem, we are confident that the issue will be solved today. The chances of successful authentication are increasing hourly. At this point consumers still experiencing difficulties are advised to leave a 10 minute gap between authentication attempts.

SEGA apologises for the disappointment caused by the problems with activating the game and asks for Football Manager fans to remain patient.

It seems a lot of people are having problems installing/getting the code to work. It wont work on my laptop or either of my brother's two PCs. Bloody useless. :faceplm:

If you are having trouble deciphering some characters in the license key on your Football Manager 2009 packaging.

Characters O and 0 as well I and 1 are printed in a very similar manner.

To help with this please refer to the following link:

Enter your key at the link and the system will determine if you have made a mistake and display the correct key.
