Ok, we’re nearly at the end of the year and even though a lot of people will be picking up a variety of games at Christmas, I thought I’d tentatively start this thread seeing as all of the major games of 2012 have been released, barring those for the Nintendo Wii U which I imagine I will be the only one to experience on this forum this year…

Anyway, the poll has been added for 15 top titles based on metacritic scores (excluding PSN, XBLA, IOS etc) but I have also included “other” for those people whose title is not featured, so vote, discuss, slate other peoples decision etc

I've gone for Max Payne 3. Loved everything about this game, especially the flashback levels set in New York, would love another whole game just full of them.

Playing through on the hardest difficulty without aim assist was a real challenge, but allowed you to appreciate the brilliant game design that went in to it, especially considering there are times when duck and cover just doesn't work, and dodge rolling and slow mo dives just need to be constantly used and merged together in a constant flow. Max's dialogue was as brilliant as ever, and that Hawaiian shirt.......

That fucking dock level though, Jesus Christ I nearly gave up on the game right there, the amount of times I died, the fact there was no midway save point from the start of the dock sequence to the end of it....thankfully I pushed through and got to experience the rest of this brilliant game.

My top 3 would be:

Max Payne 3 (PS3)
Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D (3DS)
Rayman Origins (PS Vita)

Legend of Grimrock for those of us who enjoy old school dungeon crawling? Guild Wars 2 which many people rate? Admittedly I'm probably the only one on here who has played the former and I've only played the latter on free trial for about five hours. Meh, I'll vote eventually.

I am so out of touch with games. I've only played 2 games on that list (FIFA and NBA) and have one still in the wrapper (Football Manager).

Mass Effect 3 was disappointing. Max Payne 3 was awesome. Haven't played any of the other games, except Dishonored. Got bored after a few hours. Still need to play AC3.

RE 6 was just so polarizing, that's it's main problem. I played the demo and hated it.
