GP, Ex Levels and Stars

Hi, I'm new to PES. Please could someone explain to me what the purpose of the Experience levels. I understand the GP is earned by completing certain actions, and GP goes towards the Ex Level, but I can find nowhere in the menus where the Ex Level unlocks anything. Also, the star symbol beside the GP figure on the home screen ... what does that relate to? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the experience levels unlocks better managers to be purchased with GP. But i could be wrong...

You mean the star in a yellow coin? They are MyClub coins which can be used to use players, managers, ect... You can win these or buy them using real money...
