Been "off the radar" for a bit, so only saw this on the shelves yesterday! Biting the bullet & getting a new slim, hopefully today, along with GT5...

The game is awesome, obviously, but I played it for a total of about 6 hours and it killed my PS3. (see the PS3 thread if you care)

Not so sure about awesome. It doesn't seem to have really progressed. The limitation of damage & cockpit driving views is honestly shameful for the amount of time we've had to wait, thus loses many points against Forza 3. Graphically it is no better than Forza & in quite a few places much worse. Lazy updates of old tracks being a big one.

Oh, and don't get me on the loading times. Even with such a huge install (which lies by the way, "3 minutes remaining" it said... it actually lasted 15. The whole install procedure took just over 30 minutes and the track/car load times are still long.

Damn my love of cars.

so far I've only driven a banger of a Mazda but I'm not overly impressed...I've yet to see the different weather types etc and obviously I'll enjoy it more when my car doesn't top out at 110mph

Agreed with everything, except for the Forza part because I've never played it.

By the way, has anyone managed to get the gold trophy for the first license, last part -- the one where you drive at that oval track. The best I could get is 6th.

Would you guys say this game is more realistic than fun?

Think I'll be getting this with my Christmas money.

It's about as realistic as you'll get on the PS3 at present. Only if you stick to the premium cars though... Really need a wheel/pedals to get the most out of though, can be annoyingly twitchy at times with just the stick. Almost tempted to say more twitchy than previous versions...

I forgot how tedious these licenses were. I think I'm going to buy a proper steering wheel & chair because it feel jerky steering with the pad.

Pictures of my Swift up later. lol

OK so here's another problem I have found with the game...

you need to buy utterly shit cars (eg. Toyota Yaris) to complete certain events, but by the time you've bought it & won it, you end up with less money so it's a pain in the tits!

I'm at a stage now where the only events I can do are the Special events or B events because I just bought an Audi R8 and have done all of the races possible without having to buy a Japanese car from the 70's etc.

I'm bored of it now. When taking licenses, it really annoys me that if the AI bumps on me, I'm the one that gets DQ.

Victim of overhype? Maybe.

They really didn't help theirselves by taking about 4/5 years to release it...and tbh it's not that different from it's PS2 counterparts.

Well you've cleary never played a GT game in your life.

Do you expect to drive your Audi R8 in the Yaris cup???

This has always been a part of Gran Turismo, and it's a way of getting the players not to just choose one super car and play through the whole game, which would be incredibly boring. I can't wait to play this game when I get it for christmas, and one of the things you called a 'problem' is one of these very reasons!

I always thought the whole idea behind gran turismo was building a showroom of cars up to wank over, not just winning races.

Maybe it's just me? Still not picked this up due to funding issues =[

Yeah I agree Dale, that's what I loved about GT on the PS2 - if anything, the less-known, shitty cars are more fun to drive in races.

I, also, am getting this for Christmas :)

I'll be getting a wheel and stand for it aswell, so I can't wait man.

My Mom said to me "Why don't you just learn to drive you fucking wanking bastard", to which I replied, "Mom, fuck off. Also when am I ever going to get the chance to drive a Custom '64 Ford GT40 (or whatever, she wouldn't understand anyway) around the Nurburgring?!"

Silly bitch.

Nothing fun about paying 20,000 credits or whatever for a Yaris, then winning 6,000 for winning it.

I'm at a point where there's literally nothing else I can do unless I get rid of my cars in the garage and buy more shiters - which is a vicious circle because if I do that, I don't actually win enough credits to buy more cars.
