I did another lap straight after when I set the quickest lap that what was ridiculously close.
My technique for the corkscrew is brake early and full throttle right through the corkscrew. As long as you can get the right line you can blast round it. I'm sure I could get a better laptime than that. I'll try it sometime and record the lap.

I've forgotten about GT5 for abit, next time I'm on I'll go for a quick cruse and see if I've still got it (if I had it before that is)

Still think you must've 'fluked' that corkscrew.

How you pulled a full second on me in just that turn beggars belief. There were 3-4 laps where I took it perfectly and still lost that time.

Perhaps you don't remember, but did you enter it too quickly and then somehow manage to just whip your car through it and compensate the oversteer/drift on the exit?

Or maybe, you're just not as brilliant at the game as you think you are?

Sorry, but that came across as pretty condescending.

That wasn't my intention; although fair point, I can see how it would come across that way.

I've raced with Mak before. We're very well matched in terms of speed around the track. The lap times around Laguna Seca supported that theory.

Except for that one bloody corner, which he literally took a full second quicker than me. Don't get me wrong - fair play to him - I was just wondering how he managed to take it that much more quickly.

I have put untold numbers of laps around Laguna Seca and I know the quicker and slower ways to take that corkscrew - I was genuinely interested in knowing his technique for it.

It certainly wasn't sour grapes!

Can't we get the Sunday night races going again?
I had a good laugh the few races with Matt that I had the other day. We were racing cleanly then at other times when we were wheel to wheel on the straights knocking into each other trying to make someone lose control.

Laguna's a track I've raced a million times in various games, and I'll happily admit I never sussed out a way of taking the corkscrew that I'm really happy with. I fuck it up most of the time.

If you do anything other than straight racing I might be on but I can't really be arsed racing round a track miles behind Nifty and miles ahead of Iron. There's no way I can keep up with the better drivers so after a couple of laps I'll probably not see anyone else until the end of the race unless I get lapped.

Yeah, it's nice to do a Grand Prix every now and then, but I think the shorter races make it more fun for most of the people, most of the time.

You don't need as many for a short race either, that one the other night with just me and Mak in the M3s was fucking wicked fun, never more than a second apart, changed places a few times over the race.

Get yourself online - we'll do something that keeps everyone involved.

I think quicker cars will exaggerate the problem, but we'll see!

I should be online in the next 10 mins.

I think what we were doing the other night is about the best bet, a few minutes to get used to the car/track if it's wanted, then a short race, then change car and/or course, rinse and repeat. Then people can join/drop out at more regular intervals.
