Have you ever noticed that sometimes if you're playing an important game against the Com in ML that it will use a certain pattern to make sure it wins?

For example, I'm currently 2nd in D1 to a dominant Man Utd. I'm only 1 point behind but when I played them recently I lost. Their two goals were so soft that in a fit of rage I pulled the plug and stormed off (like a big kid, I admit it!) When I'd cooled down a bit I put it back on and decided to play and accept whatever the result was. To my amazement I lost again to the EXACT same 2 goals. I don't mean similar, they were carbon copies. 1 free kick from that Park Ji Sung bloke after a very soft foul 27 yds out and the other Alan Smith from a lofted through-ball in a counter move.

Now I know some of yous will be thinking that I got beat again the same because I didn't learn any lessons from the 1st match and played into Man Utd's gameplan again. Wrong. I played some different players, and went with a 5-2-1-2 formation instead of 4-4-2. It just struck me as very odd that the goals should be exactly the same, especially the free kick.

I still own the Com most of the time though cos I'm well hard.

It would help if you didnt commit the same foul in exactly the same place then you wouldnt concede that free kick.

Yes, I've seen it happen many times. Sometimes the game cheats to make it harder for you. Maybe it's because people are always complaining that the game is too easy. But sometimes it can go your way and you win 8-0 too. Strange game with a lack of consistency.

Yep, I noticed that too..now I gave up playing the ML.
As zyg said, the computer cheats, and I believe in any way possible..it annoys me when they keep in posession of the ball and won't pass it to any team player, and wait for you to get mad to tackle them and then get a free kick..

I'm in 2012 now on my ML and ive never experienced anything like that. Just learn to defend, there are ways to defend against the computer. In the big games you have to take your chances like in real life, there is no cheating from the comp, just learn to play better.

Just the other day I was playing AC Milan and was winning comfortably by the 1 goal. Shevchenko fell over (literally I hardly touched him!) just outside the box. They scored the free kick, that part I didn't have a problem with, the fact that JAAP FUCKING STAM scored it pissed me well off. (I was laughing when I saw him step up but that quickly changed).

THEN in stoppage time, they played a through pass that went across the box towards the corner and as my defender was hustling to get first to the ball, Shevchenko went flying, rolling a couple times as they do and it was a pen. Which they easily dispatched.

It's happened a few more times but never as obvious as that.

My friend and I talk about this phenomenon often. I call it "Getting CPU'd."

There are many symptoms when the CPU goes into this mode. Sometimes they are as subtle as having one of your defenders have a slight hitch-and-pause after starting his reaction to a through ball, or watching 10 loose balls in a row land right on CPU feet.

Sometimes the symptoms are incredibly blatant, such as REALLY noticeable sabotage of your men's positioning and movement - horribly unfair fouls called and uncalled, injuries, CPU scoring 4 goals in the last 5 minutes of the game, etc.

I find it hard to believe that so many people who have played this game a long time have not noticed this. When you develop a feel for so many things in the game, the cheating variations become really glaring.

I believe there is absolutely a cheat factor built into this version even more obviously than in WE7 (only version I played other than WE9), put there to compensate for sloppy AI.
