Help! How do I extend someones contract!?

Hey guys, i'm still getting to know the ropes of ML (im a recent fifa convert) and I see that Xavi, Iniesta and a few others are nearing the end of their contracts (I presume thats what the 3/3 next to contract means on their profile). So I need to extend their contracts, but how? I can't find out anywhere where the button is to extend the contract, do I just let it run out then a message comes up saying "you need to agree a contract extensions with Player X, press proceed to go to negotiation" etc... I'm on xbox btw if that somehow helps

3/3 would mean he's got three years left, 2/3 and 1/3 meaning two and one obviously.

Just wait til the Jan transfer window of his last year and you'll have a chance to renew.

Other clubs don't seem to come in for your expiring players, I think they'd just wait until they're released at the end of their deal......or maybe thats just with the sh*tty players i've had ;-)

If you change the settings in Jan to "Let scout negotiate" he will automatically tie up the contracts ... just don't let him flog anyone!

Acc it's the other way round. 3/3 means they are at the end of their contract and need a renewal. When it comes to the transfer period your scout will inform you of who needs contract renewals. All you do is go in to current transfer negotiations and click on the person and then click renew.

It's a bit of a pain when teams come in for one of your players who then wants to leave due to being offered a better deal....would be nice if you could extend his contract even if there is 2 yrs left on it, just to put off other clubs.

when someone agrees contract from another team go on change negogations and at the bottom it says num of yrs on contract 1-5 so if its an old player i awlays do 1-3 and young awlays a 5
