well ive been playing pro since iss 98 and for about 8years now all my mates come round mine and we pick dream teams from all the players on game and form a club of our own to compete in a league against each other...one CERTAIN mate has won every league of all time must be at least 500 now he had always used a 4-4-3 formation puts his wingers rite out wide cuts in and his striker scores open goals! what formation is best to play against him????

and how important is the teamwork rating for players as my new tactic has been to pick all the best teamwork players like seedorf, xavi and perrotta?:erm:

thanks

Hi there, your mate is what we call a cut-back whore to be exact. It's not particularly an appreciated tactic he is using as he is taking advantage of a fundamental flaw in the game which sees the goalkeeper mispositioning himself during the cut-back pass into the 6 yard area or further out.

Being a longtime PES fan yourself, you probably already know that this cut-back flaw has been unfortunately available since around PES6 I believe. I used to play in an online league myself, however we frowned upon the use of the tactic and often made a conscious effort not to score such goals as they were effectively considered 'cheap'.

As for how to counter this tactic that your friend utilises, it's a tricky one, but it can be countered (for the most part) through practice. This includes using the pressure button when defending (X for Xbox 360, Square for PS3 of course). By using the pressure button to defend, it will move your closest player to the ball towards your opponent who's in possession in an attempt to put pressure on him through either tackling or jockeying. This pressure of course is applied without you even controlling the man meaning you effectively have a free man to control, which is the key here to defending the cut-back tactic. You can use this free man who's fully under your control to either double up on the winger who's preparing to make the cheap cut-back, or you can alternatively use the free player to back off and fill in the space within the box where your opponents winger is likely to pass the ball, ultimately intercepting the cut-backs.

In terms of formations, I probably couldn't help you out with that one, but I wouldn't advise playing 3 at the back, and stay with at least 4 in defence. I often utilise the counter attack strategy too which tends to work very well, especially if my opponent is committing many men forward which I imagine your friend does if he indeed plays the 4-3-3 formation.

As I say though, the key to stopping the cut-back tactic is mainly in the pressure button I believe, and it's a matter of practice. You've been playing a while mind (I started with ISS 98 too! High five!), so I imagine you can adapt quite quickly. You just need to really use your own judgement in the moment as to whether to double up or use the free man in your control to fill in the space and intercept the pass. The only other thing you then need to be wary of is overusing the pressure button and the location of using it, as the AI when under the control of the pressure button are known on occasion to slide and give away fouls which isn't particularly helpful in the box. So just maybe ease up on using the pressure button once the winger is in the box, but it is a judgement call of course, and in the moment you're the best judge.

Hopefully this has helped, and to repeat, it'll probably take a few matches to really get to grips with this defending tactic if you're not trying to implement it already.

Oh, and just a little word, we don't really condone swearing in thread titles so just keep that in mind for next time - and try to refrain from double posting. We don't mind double posting if it's a few hours apart or so, but not a few minutes. But you're new here so it's only right to cut you some slack brother. :)

Anymore thoughts or advice, just post back, there's plenty who'll be happy to help. And good luck beating him, he deserves to lose.

:)

haha thank you so much i have beaten him about 6times in the 500+ games but that just is not enough as out of the 6 of us who play 3 have never beaten him in 500 odd attempts and we all beat each other. its such a cowardly tactic he openly admits to scoring around only 10 goals from outside the box in the last 8 years which is ridiculous.
we done a 4 man league yesterday and he won 7-1,6-0 and 10-2 btw we play ps2!!

so do you think if alot of my team are 90 for teamwork i stand a better chance?

Thanks for that post jesse james, i shall def take on board wot u said. I'd do anything to beat him, but if it works... remains to be seen. The mate macca04 is talking about is very good at the game though(he was ranked world number 1 at fifa 09) I shall def be calling him the "cut-back whore" now though i like it lol.

I myself hav played pes since 98 too. I find it a shame that the ps3 cannot produce a game worth playing, thats why we play on ps2( Can't beat it).

So do u know much about pes 2012?? is the gameplay gonna be the same for the ps3?? Hope not!!

This is my squad
GK J Cesar, Frey
Df Lucio, Nesta, Gallas, Chivu, I Cordoba, Vargas, Adriano
Mf Essien, Mascherano, Meireiles, V D Vart, Gourcuff, Veron,
SS Messi, Del Piero, Aguero, Arshavin
Cf Villa, Torres, Defoe

How would you honestly rate it? Compared to Macca04 squad??

Teamwork always helps when it comes to organisation and positioning, and over 90 would be brilliant for your team. I wouldn't say it's absolutely vital though, if most are over 80, or 85 then you're in a great position to beat your friend if you organise your defending a bit better I imagine.

You say he's very good at the game, but he can't be that good if he has to resort to the same tactics - and cheap tactics at that which only really work due to a programming error of the AI on Konami's part. I wouldn't take rankings seriously as competition is so fierce online that people adopt all sorts of cheap tactics and unsporting play in order to win, quite like your friend from the sounds of it to be honest.

It's difficult to really judge teams as I can't remember stats from old PES games, but I do remember playing it on the PS2 a hell of a lot. Random selection match! Babandiga/Babangida! Roberto Larcos!

Good luck with the attempts to beat him though, if you still can't beat him, and he continues to use the cut-back, just tease him, it'll eventually get to him.

Hi there buddy,
WEll, what I usually do is to get my DMF to help out in defending by marking the striker in the middle if he is that good/clinical in scoring but make sure you have the right DMF to mark the striker as a slow one will be hopeless in marking a quick striker and on the other hand, quick DMF might not stand against big strikers such as DROGBA or Ibrahimovic. Hope it helps, :)

me also got same problem, some how i found out that Team Style adjusting play a big role here. With the same team and I can bounce back sometimes after a little fix on tactic. But still I cant find the proper Team Style to match my team and keep on good positioning and movement.

any ideas?

4-3-3 is not so easy you are looking for players with skilled dribbling to hold the ball in the middle until they can pin point the pass to the attackers, when they get them selfs to the right position.

So you are looking for players with the hidden skills tactical dribbling, playmaker, center such as Xavi Alonso for a defense midfielder for example. He has form 7 but his age is a bit a problem 28 can give you a green in some matches but the pint point pass, passer, covering cards he has can be proved really valuable as he can steal the ball at the back make some dribbling and pint point the pass to the attackers with fast dribble in front may score a goal easier. Hidden skills tactical dribbling, playmaking, shooting from distance, center. You have better chances to score from distance after they move away the ball with him also.

Cesc Fabreskas is good for the position 2 he has the hidden skills tactical dribbling, playmaking also only but he has 7 form/condition and in age 23 is near the top of careers can give you many games in good condition.

At the top i suggest players like Gourguff hidden skills tactical dribbling, playmaking, shooting from distance you need this in there also. Form/Condition 8 his age is 24 can be a small problem as he can give the green in some games.

Also Montolivo is a good deal hidden skills tactical dribbling, playmaking, shooting from distance form/condition 6 age 25 almost at the peak of his career can give the green in some games but these are the kind of players you starting loading them with skillcards from the begin and you waiting for them to reappear in the game later for sure.

A good tool to view the hidden skills is also very helpful to locate players like that is a must! Some good players with the same hidden stats are veron, pjanic, oscar, etc.

Good luck is also needed.

in order to make more complete my post

see this couch here:

Pjanic that i overload him with skill cards in order to have him ready when he reappears again retired to my club and reappeared as a couch with so much spotting potential that overcomes any existing couch!! Is sure that if i put him on my youth team will be filled with 65 minimum players and some of them ready to start in the first team! Especially if i combine him with ferreta scout that has the maximum points in the top teams expert!

You can see ferreta here:

So we speak about 10 millions + 10 millions i must invest, pjanic will cost me more 5 mill btw as you see......

The problem is pjanic supposedly has maxim points in youth development but has lower points i can set in the manual training i always doing.... And i find more convenient to use the scouter that knows the players without viewing them so i can scan my self faster all the youth talents that appeared every season! The problem is some low money teams that don't have 10 million by default in the youth team and if an existing high talent appears in their club it appears as a low clash player.

Personal i will bypass pjanic is not that i dont have the money as you see in the pics is just i gave him as much skill cards as i could and he is a playmaker he can fill my center pretty nice when and if he will reappear in me i have 10 mill to the youth team anyway.....

Bottom line yes you can fix a team with youth talents and high stats but it cost.

I just thinking

I kind carried away a bit and not really helping if you play online getting good young players is not as easy as the money problem is HUGE in there.

So if you speak about systems and ways to get an advantage over another player I have something for you! You can set a player to mark the star player of the other team all over the field if you like! You just selecting the game plan when you have a match with someone move the pointer to a defense player press the shoot button and select the mark settings as you see here:

You can put him running always around Calleron as you see here:

Finally calleron will never make an easy shot or receive the ball easy! But there is a problem to that also! Some teams they play change position and if calleron will go back another player is getting forward in the example case I’m using de la penia or luis Garcia, he has the special card Maurice and always trying to get behind your defense lines, may find the defense wide open! In order to do that you need defense players in the wings with skill card covering in order someone else to get the position that Puyol left behind open by following callderon at the back.

Finally I don’t get anyone that got in pess 2012 and is saying they like it better. You can’t fix the defenders in your line the way you like them and the covering skill card is easy to give it to your defenders and solve difficult problems like this.
