- The game does not force you into any kind of gun battle outside of the tutorial. There are places where brute force is encourages, but can be avoided.
- There are Signature Kills that show more unique deaths and doing so will unlock extra abilities; like speedier movement and more accurate shooting abilities.
- The manual checkpointing system is broken; they neither save the NPC incapacity status, nor NPC positions. Everybody except killed targets are reset after checkpoint reload.
- There are no giant-sized levels like in the scale of a Beldingford Manor from the older games. Levels have been broken down into smaller, distinct chunks.
- Reviewer advises to bump up the difficulty to dial down instinct’s benefits a tad if you want to play like a true Hitman.
- The game’s scoring system was broken in one instance: they played a two part mission where they killed ten people in the first part, then entered the second part and noticed that nobody was suspicious of the earlier events. The then played the second part of the mission silently and earned a Silent Assassin rating.
- Other missions handle the scoring system much better, noted that there are so many built-in score-boosting challenges it will take hours to finish them.
- The campaign is huge with each containing hours of alternative kills, pick-ups and Easter eggs. On its own the campaign is a winner.
- The mode Contracts is a great inclusion to the series.

Seems like it doesn't suck :w00t

I'm really interested in this. It's released at the perfect time too. By the time it's available here, my exam already finishes.

All linked to the review text. Mixed consensus. Some saying it doesn't capture the earlier games feel. I'll wait until its sub £20

I see it as action/reaction, the Hitman series were (for me) quite ground breaking, a guilty pleasure and unlike anything on the market. In turn IO devised Assassins Creed, which was undoubtedly spawned and nurtured off the back of the Hitman ethos but obviously more adventure action based as opposed to strategy.

I think had Assassins Creed been a flop, HA would have been a very different kettle of fish. The inclusion of AC Eagle Vision, which essentially it is, for me is unwarranted and unwanted, there was nothing wrong with the old mapping system. It sake is not tangible improvement in my eyes.

I'm rather looking forward to its release next week, very much as I was with Hitman Blood Money, that delivered in spades for me. Still one of my favourite games of all time (not sure if I included it on the list for Jonno though).

The views expressed above are those of the poster and are not representative of Matt Holme, PESGaming, its voluntary workforce, the affiliates of PESGaming, the SoccerGaming network, my cats or anyone of sound mind and body.

I'm only in Chapter 1. I'm at a mission where I need to escape a library filled with police scouting the place. So far, it's really enjoyable.

Whilst its not as pure as the originals, what it introduces do not detract from its gameplay. All in all It's a worthy addition to the collection. I'm loving it.

After completing my missions, I tend to watch a youtuber, tetraninja, to see how his approach differs than mine. I really like the fact that this game allows the gamer to decide how to approach the mission, rather than a linear one.

You've reminded me to check out HitGod47 on Youtube, the guy is a bit of a legend.

So Hitman is actually a good game? I wish there was a demo...

I don't really think there was any doubt this game would be good, I think perhaps the marketing and chatter surrounding it caused misinformation to be spread about it. Wrongly so. I can happily eat my words and say that its incredibly enjoyable and faithful to the originals.

Hitman is one of the best series ever. Their replay value is unmatched in the history of games. At least for me.

Absolution for me has to be my personal GOTY. Yes, it has things that I don't like such as checkpoints dividing a level up, but overall, it is a great addition to the series and I love the fact that 47 now feels extremely dangerous in the right hands. ;)

It depends on the people, I guess. It's mostly about finding your way from point A to point B without being discovered. I think if you're a fan of Metal Gear Solid, you'd most probably enjoy this.

^Are you playing on the PC?

I am on ps3 and my game never froze. My ps3 freezes from time to time but it only froze 1 time during Absolution and I played it over 40 hours, so I guess it was a normal ps3 freeze.

On the PS3 actually. Every once in a while I'd get some sort of input lag. If I move my character forward, he'll continue to move forward for about 5 seconds despite you already changing the analog direction.

Welp, if anybody doesn't like Absolution, they can always go for the impending release of:

I have no idea what's going on in the bottom right quarter of that.

(This is a real thing btw, coming out in January)

You mean the wheelchair guy? Or the guy above him?

Foxhound Seriously? That took me by surprise because I've heard some people complaining about save game crashes but not delayed controls.
