Luton town fc
If you don't mind the ramblings of a PES nerd ;-)
Started a ML (Pellegrino ops file) and took WE United with the Defaults and made them
Luton Town FC! Currently on the back stretch of season1 and mired in mid-table, with grim promotion hopes for the Premiership this term.
The gutting of the defaults and bringing new blood to Kennilworth Road began as soon I got my keys to the office

Following the Wenger model, who train 10 miles down the road, it was off to Ligue 1 and Europe for undervalued gems, along with mass promotion from the Youth team. The club lacks the money or prestige to go any other way.
With a 5 year plan to be winning the Premiership/Champions League double and sustaining that level thereafter, skilled teenagers and players in their early 20s are the targets.
The pre-season transfer window brought in:
CF – Schwarz - Youth
CB – Palmieri - Youth
SW – Schmidt - Youth
AMF – Shimizu - Youth
SMF – Pelaez - Youth
GK – Fatecha - Youth
CB – Mattson – Youth
SMF – Goossens - NEC Nijmegen - £373k
CF – Riviere – AS Saint Etienne - £1.782mil
CMF – Sivakov – Cagliari Calcio - £308k
CB/SB/DMF – Kana Biyik – Stade Rennais FC - £946k
CF - Giroud – Montpellier HSC - £784k
AMF – Eriksen – Ajax - £1.475mil
With the exception of Giroud (24), all the other players were 22 or younger. Eriksen, Riviere and Giroud could be Luton's 3 prong attack for 5 yrs, when Giroud gets swapped and someone else can partner the other two who can reach a decade playing together. As everyone starting with the defaults knows, Palmieri can be given the captain's armband now and be the rock at the back for as long as you play.
Mediorce results and a lack of goals dominated the 1st half of the season as the manager - ahem, my poor playing skills ;-) - wasn't doing a good enough job with the players available.
The January window provided the 2nd chance to punt out the old and bring in the new. Trying to bring in 'home nation' players is an expensive and largely futile proposition for Luton Town. Apparently players expect more than a Nandos, Pizza Express and Lloyds Bar and also expect a load more to come and play. You can try and sell them on the leafy wonders of Hertforshire but kids these days.
With that, the following were brought in:
CMF – Meyler – Sunderland - £1.008mil
WF – Griezman – Real Sociedad - £1.566mil
CF/SMF – Kramaric – Zagreb - $270k
CMF – Ekdal – Bologna FC - £1.418mil
MF – Wilshire – Arsenal = £2.700mil
Those moves put 4 new starters into the lineup and finished removing the defaults from the starting 11 and effectively the squad. In his first match Griezman destroyed the opposition's right back, setting up all three of his countryman Riviere's goals.
For around £12mil minus the default sold, we've settled on the following lineup, as a 3-2-3-2:
--------------Giroud---------------------------------
---------------------------Riviere-------------------
Griezman--------------------------------------------
---------------------Eriksen-------------------------
----------------------------------------------Wilshire
---------------Ekdal----------------------------------
---------------------------Meyler---------------------
-------Mattson-----Palmieri-------Kana Biyik-----------
-------------------Fatecha----------------------------
Bench: Schwarz, Kramaric, Shimuzu, Paelez, Sivakov, Schmidt, Goossens
So far the 2nd half has been better. Promotion isn't looking likely, but there are some signs things are picking up and that next season should definitely see a move to the Premiership. Eriksen's breaks into the box, Giroud's headers, Greizman's runs and Meyler's dirty work have been the bright spots and working Ekdal and Wilshire into the game more is needed. There are some quality players out of contract to try and poach before the season ends and tactics to improve.
